Sarah and Jason hosted their intimate Captiva Island wedding at the gorgeous South Seas Island Resort. Sara’s parents have a home on Captiva Island, and they knew it would be the perfect place to celebrate with family and friends.

With a  stunning view, and a salty ocean breeze, the setting couldn’t have been more gorgeous. They chose a color palette of purples and mixed metals, and we love the variety and texture that was incorporated throughout the design. One of our favorite features was the plant wall, which is a fun update to the traditional boxwood wall. With pops of pineapples, lush greenery with bold blooms, and a romantic candlelit dinner, we love how this evening of celebration came together, and you couldn’t have asked for more beautiful images captured by Hunter Ryan Photo.

Kelly McWilliams Weddings & Celebrations helped blend the couple’s vision of rich hues and a speakeasy feel for their wedding day and executed it beautifully with hints of island elegance mixed in.

We’re thrilled that Sara, the lovely bride, shared a few details regarding what she and Jason drew inspiration from for their wedding day.

We were so excited to gather our families together in paradise and celebrate our marriage! We had been together for almost eight years and couldn’t wait to finally be husband and wife! We had a blended Jewish and Christian interfaith ceremony at Sunset Cove at South Seas Resort. For dinner, we knew we would like it to be lively and full of conversation and candlelight! We both love hues of purple- inspired by amethyst, and mixed metals. We were inspired by speakeasies and a vintage, romantic atmosphere as well as the island setting of Captiva itself.

I know we don’t always pause to love on the portrait portion of the wedding day, but I think those definitely deserved some attention, don’t you? We love that this couple took some time to embrace the beauty of their destination, and we are taken by the emotion we feel as we scroll through these moments!

From Emily:

The Amelia Suite was easily one of the most playful designs that I have done yet. I loved getting to combine geometric shapes with soft, pretty colors. I think the way that the calmness of the colors balances the modern geometric elements just make the suite so much fun, but still sophisticated. When I designed this suite I had a fun, playful couple in mind. When a guest receives this invitation, they know they can expect a true celebration!

This eclectic wedding style combined modern elements with old-fashioned details inspired by the Swiss Family Robinson film. This castaway wedding vibe incorporates intentional details everywhere- from the map lining of the stationery pieces from Grace and Serendipity, to the lush tropical plants and florals created by Supposey, this vendor team pulled together so many fun elements that truly brought this unique theme to life.

By combining a found-object aesthetic, like the bamboo drink luge, with island elements such as palm fronds, seashells, and giant protea, they created a beautifully cohesive style that definitely had a unique twist. I don’t think we’ve ever seen such a creative bar set-up, but it definitely gives us that handmade feel inspired by the Swiss Family treehouse. And we love that the look of the reception tablescape combined the eclectic island style mixed with a splash of elegance, made complete by the metallic sheen of the table linen and calligraphy elements.

We hope you enjoy these fun ideas created by PS Weddings and so perfectly captured by Aislinn Kate Photography as part of The Everything Workshop with Aislinn Kate!

The bride and groom’s style was absolutely perfect. A messy bun for the bride and a scruffy, shipwrecked vibe for the groom supported the laid-back, relaxed and sunny wedding shoot. We absolutely love the feel and look of a two-piece bridal gown, and it again mixed elements of both a casual and elegant feel without compromising style. The black and maroon groom’s suit incorporated the perfect elegance and uniqueness.

We love that they took a unique concept, and created a full style that feels both fun and elegant in a way that is totally achievable for a real wedding style. What do you think? Do you feel the connection to the Swiss Family Robinson film in these wedding ideas.

If you’re an Amazon addict like my husband and I, then you know about Amazon Prime Day! I was perusing the deals, and I realized that quite a few of the items that I bought after I had my baby were listed, so I thought I would put together a quick little post to share those new mom must haves. If you or someone you know are having a baby soon, you’re going to want these things! (Some of these items are currently on sale, and some will be going on sale throughout the day. Make sure you add them to your “watch” list if you can’t purchase yet!)

Vava Nightlight: When in the hospital, I quickly realized that I wanted to see baby at all times, and I needed a little bit of light when getting up multiple times per night. This nightlight is rechargeable, portable, and has different levels of light- even different color tones. Definitely love it and it will be a staple in our house for years to come I’m sure!

Hallway nightlights: Again, waking up multiple times a night. These are great because they’re light-sensing, so you just place them and don’t have to think about anything. We put some throughout our house (you know, for when I wake up in the middle of the night looking for a snack) and one in our bathroom too (which I could have definitely used when pregnant too!).

My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow: This may look weird, but it’s awesome. At first, I was a little hesitant to use it because of how it looks, but friends, it is amazing in the newborn nursing stage! You can literally just attach it to yourself… I would walk around with it on some days! The Boppy didn’t work out super well for me in those days, but I do use it now that baby is older.

Stroller fan: Living in Florida, this is a MUST (although we’re not doing much walking nowadays in the summer). I quickly realized that covering up baby from the sun also resulted in creating a lack of airflow, so this was a quick purchase.

Mederma: Yeah, I know people don’t really talk about this, but listen- stretch marks happen (and if you’re lucky like me, you get them AFTER you’ve had the baby- not sure how that happens), and this stuff is normally pretty expensive! Any chance to get it on sale is a big win in my book!

Pacifier Holder: I haven’t purchased this yet, but I most definitely will be! I’ve been carrying pacifiers in a small tupperware container, and it’s just not cute!

And then here are a few other items that I didn’t see were on sale, but they’re all items that I ended up getting after baby came.

Freemie Concealable Breast Pump Collection Cups: I ended up getting these after the first month, because I quickly realized how uncomfortable the normal pump pieces are- especially when I was trying to kill two birds with one stone by working and pumping at the same time. I also use these when I’m putting makeup on (which doesn’t happen quite as often nowadays) and they don’t get in the way. Now, I will say that they’re not quite as effective as the normal pump parts, but they’re great for comfort and ease!

Hands-free pumping and nursing bra: I was totally not prepared for pumping y’all. I figured I wouldn’t need to pump until a few weeks after baby was born, but of course I was wrong. I ended up having to pump to get my milk to “come in”, and it was then that I realized I didn’t have a bra to facilitate hands free pumping. I ordered this right away, because I’m all about killing two birds with one stone.

Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper: So I heard so many people say that they swore by the Rock ‘n Play throughout my pregnancy. What I didn’t hear them say was that there were a billion Rock ‘n Play models, and that you needed to make sure to get the one that rocks automatically. As a result, I registered for the wrong Rock ‘n Play, and didn’t realize it until a few weeks after baby was home. So, make sure that when you’re registering for the infamous Rock ‘n Play, you’re getting the AUTO one!

I’ll be adding in other items as I think of them… or rather, as I buy them!
