As you will quickly learn while researching, there are a vast number of wedding professionals eager to work with you while you’re planning your wedding. At first, this may seem completely overwhelming- plus you’re also likely wondering how to even find the best vendors for your wedding. But, keep this point mind: while there are a number of wedding professionals out there, only a select few are truly right for you.

In order to build the best team of professionals for your wedding day, we’ve put together six tidbits to keep in mind so you can find a vendor team you can’t live without:

How To Find Your Perfect Wedding Vendor Team via TheELD.com

1. Envision Your Wedding Day

Before you start asking for advice and scouring the web, think about how you envision both your wedding planning journey and your wedding day. For example, if the mere thought of planning your wedding makes you feel stressed, perhaps the first person to contact is a wedding planner who will walk through every step with you. Further, if reciting your vows in front of a backdrop of mountain views is part of your (realistic) dream, let that point guide your ceremony and reception space search. Knowing how you want to feel and also how you want things to look will help to guide your search.

2. Think About Your Most Important Pros

What one couple values may not be what you value, so don’t compare your wedding must-haves to someone else’s! Instead, take a look at your budget and decide which pros you and your fiancé cannot live without. Then start researching this group of vendors first, especially if you value things like the venue, food, photography, and entertainment, as these are also usually the first vendors to inquire with and book. Once you find a professional you think you might like, make sure to inquire right away to learn about their pricing and check their availability because calendars fill quickly!

Tip: Every professional is important, but it’s helpful to pinpoint your top three or top five most important pros because it will help you to further allocate your budget accordingly.

3. Talk with Family & Friends

Once you’re ready to start searching, one of the very best places to start is by talking with family and friends. It’s highly likely that someone else from your most valued group has either recently gotten married or knows someone who has just walked down the aisle. Contact them, and always ask which of their wedding professionals stood out the most. Also, don’t be afraid to ask if there was someone who they didn’t love as much as they had hoped. Knowing your friends and family trusted and loved a professional will likely carry more weight than the reviews you find online.

4. Chat with Wedding Pros

Most wedding pros have a number of weddings on their calendars every year, and everyone can pinpoint their favorite teams. Whether it’s a wedding planner, venue, photographer, or videographer, ask them whom they would recommend you contact! Word-of-mouth is tremendously valuable to wedding professionals, and they won’t take this question lightly. But once they do make a recommendation, trust their judgment and contact that professional.

“For couples working with a planner, trust in their vendor recommendations for you. Your interest and well-being is always our top priority so we are matching you up with the folks we know you will 1) click with 2) provide great service and 3) work within your budget. You could say it is our super power. Also, another tip for couples working with a planner: do not jump the gun and inquire with or book vendors without your planner’s knowledge. We have a long term plan for your planning process, so if we have not talked about your lighting vendor yet, there is probably a good reason. When in doubt, ask us!” – Leigh Pearce Weddings

5. Attend Bridal Shows

Attending a bridal show is likely either something you cannot wait to do or something you would prefer to avoid entirely. It’s completely up to you! If you do decide to purchase a ticket, it’s helpful to attend with a very small group (I.E: your mom or future mother-in-law and perhaps your sister or best friend) as that will limit the number of opinions and ideas present. Also, know how you envision your wedding day and also which professionals you’re looking to hire first. Having these guidelines in place will help to shape your experience because you won’t feel a need to talk to every pro in attendance.

Tip: Look into alternative bridal shows, like The Big Fake Wedding. These types of shows have a vetted group of pros in attendance, plus you will see vendors working in their element as you are attending a pseudo event.

6. Search The Web

At some point, you will definitely be taking to the web to source vendors. The V List is a great place to search because we stand behind the work of each and every member. You can search using various elements, such as your wedding budget, location, and even style. Plus, you can know that anyone who you find in The V List is awesome and has been extensively vetted by Lauren (I mean, have you heard about her own wedding vendor experience?)!

Browsing through our real wedding galleries is also a great idea because you will be able to see the work of many different professionals with varying styles. A few tips to keep in mind while researching on the web:

– Really pay attention to the vendor’s style. Their work is tremendously important, but so is their personality. Make sure both shine through!

– Never shy away from contacting a vendor who does not live in your area! Most vendors are more than happy to travel to you, but note that you will be paying for the costs associated.

– While you’re on their website, don’t be surprised or deterred if you can’t find information on pricing. Many vendors choose not to publish this information, so simply send a note asking to speak further. In fact, we’ll be talking about this very subject soon!

– Look at reviews, but don’t put all of your decision-making weight on them. Reviews are a great tool to hear about others’ experiences, however, there have been several instances lately that we’ve heard of in which vendors are receiving false negative reviews. They are still a great tool though, so be sure to check them out!

Remember, you are building a team of creatives who are going to stand with you and work with you throughout your wedding planning process. The time you spend researching will be well worth it when you realize you have pulled together a team you love and one that you will continue to be proud of long into the future.

Eclectic, unique, and absolutely amazing, these marsala wedding ideas might be one of my favorite inspiration shoots to date! Emily Grace Design created a wedding design that is both gorgeous and creative, using a rich color palette incorporating mustard yellow and marsala, and pairing with lush, organic florals from Shea Hopely Flowers.

This is the last of the ELD Blogiversary shoots this year, and lucky for us, Emily incorporated one of my favorite brand elements- lightbulbs! From the standpoint of the ELD brand, the lightbulb represents inspiration, and my goodness, this shoot is most definitely inspirational! If you didn’t catch the very first ELD Blogiversary shoot, I explained that on this particular day of shooting, we had two photographers present to showcase the difference in photographers’ styles of photography. So once again, we had two photographers- Caroline & Evan Photography and Brian Sumner Photography– present to capture this lovely eclectic design. We’ll start things off with the images from Caroline & Evan Photography

This color palette is amazing, don’t you think? And how fun are the lightbulbs used throughout the design?! Using unexpected elements in wedding designs is one of my new favorite things, and I think you’ll be seeing a lot more of that around here in the coming months! :)

So if you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that a little while ago I went on a few trips to places around the Caribbean! I was doing some research on destination weddings and honeymoons, and throughout the next few weeks I’ll be highlighting some tips and best practices on having a destination wedding and planning a honeymoon.

We’re starting with a fun and exciting concept… a Sandals WeddingMoon®! A WeddingMoon® is the concept of celebrating your wedding and honeymoon in the same beautiful location and was first conceived and created by Sandals Resorts… sounds awesome, right? Before we get into more details, I want you to know that have something exciting for you regarding a WeddingMoon® (maybe winning something…), but you’ll have to read through the whole post to find out at the end!

Having a destination wedding is a great option if you’re wanting something a little different. It’s also a great option if you’re having trouble with your guest list- whether it’s too many people, or you just want those closest to you attending your wedding. If you choose a destination wedding, you also don’t want your guests who are there to just be thrown to the wayside while you and your honey enjoy yourselves, and luckily, Sandals Resorts offers an unforgettable experience for not only you, but for your guests as well.

What I love about the concept of a WeddingMoon® is that you can enjoy both your wedding and your honeymoon at the same time. I always say that one of the best parts about planning a wedding is the honeymoon, and this just takes that one step further and puts you in your honeymoon immediately! Sandals Resorts are all-inclusive, which means that just about *everything* is included- food, drinks, activities, etc- it’s truly an awesome experience, and I highly recommend an all-inclusive resort no matter what you do!

So now for the fun part! I was able to “TestDrive” a Sandals WeddingMoon® at Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa in Jamaica to learn more about how the process goes so I could share with you…

1. Getting Started | You can browse the Sandals WeddingMoon web page for inspiration and insight to all the possibilities and amenities Sandals WeddingMoons® have to offer. And to help you online, Sandals Resorts has created an exclusive Online Destination Wedding Designer, an interactive tool where you can browse island destinations and specific resorts, color palettes, floral, ceremony and reception décor, entertainment and more.

You will contact Sandals’ Wedding Concierge to help plan your budget, and review room prices for your guests + honeymoon suites. You can learn all about their destinations and options for your Sandals Wedding, and they will even hold your wedding date for 72 hours for free! Once you’re ready to book, all you need is a $400 deposit to get started with booking your suite and deciding on your wedding date!

2. First Steps | Once you have your date, your personal wedding planner will contact you to schedule a kick-off call and get you started with planning your dream wedding! You will receive a group code to share with your friends and family so that all the rooms that are booked are tied together. (The more rooms booked with your code, the more inclusions you will receive for your wedding!) You will be able to setup a free personal Sandals wedding website that will have all the information your guests will need.

3. Inspiration & Design | You can use Sandals’ interactive Wedding Designer tool to save your ideas to share with your wedding planner during your kick-off call! With Sandals Resorts, you have the option of customizing your wedding or choosing one of their fabulous predesigned themes – both of which your expert pre-travel wedding planner will help you in bringing your vision to life.

4. 6-11 Months Before | About six to eleven months before your wedding date, you will “meet” with your pre-travel wedding planner via phone on your “kick-off ” call to plan your wedding design, make appointments for wedding day salon services, select your photo and video packages, and make any excursion plans. At this time you will usually also confirm all events such as the cocktail hour, reception and rehearsal dinner.

5. 2-3 Months Before | Two to three months prior to your wedding, it will be time to finalize details! You will confirm the guest list and room requirements, and finalize all of the details and special events that have been planned with your Sandals pre-travel wedding planner.  All final payments will have been made at this time also! You can make any last minute additions, like a sunset cruise for your guests or extra floral details. At this time, you will so be introduced via email to your personal resort wedding planner, who will welcome you at the resort and work with a dedicated team to bring to life all the details of your wedding!

6. Wedding Week | It’s suggested that you arrive at your resort 48-72 hours prior to your wedding so that you can meet any residency requirements, take the time to experience the resort and decompress before your guests arrive. Once you’ve relaxed and settled in, you will have a final wedding detail meeting with your resort wedding planner. It is at this meeting that you will choose your wedding cake flavor (yes, you get to taste the cake too!), your wedding location, and make any final entertainment and décor choices! Once this is done, you get to sit back, relax and leave everything in your wedding team’s capable, expert hands!

Jessica from The Budget Savvy Bride and I both love the same color- so what do you know, we looked like bridesmaids with our matching dresses and lovely bouquets!

If you’re wondering about documentation needed to have a WeddingMoon, no need to worry! Sandals’ Wedding Concierge will ensure that you are aware of any required residency and documents that will be needed to wed in your destination. With each island the requirements may be different, so they will make you completely aware of all the necessary documentation and submit all of the applications for your marriage license!

What I love about a Sandals WeddingMoon® is that Sandals Resorts takes a single-day event and transforms it to a multi-day celebration of activities for you and you loved ones. In fact, you can even keep things intimate and have a WeddingMoon® with just you and your future spouse.

Oh, and did I mention that you can have a “Test Drive” to see if a Sandals WeddingMoon is the right fit for you? That’s right- you can have a little getaway and test out a destination wedding at the same time… sounds like an awesome way to celebrate your engagement if you ask me!

And on that note… I have some incredibly exciting news for you!
