So I’ve been wanting to do a video blog for a while, and so now I’m just kind of making myself do it. In between eating too many carrots and going back to spin class for the first time since October.

I thought this would be the perfect time to record a video because today is the day of the launch of the Every Last Detail Wedding Style Dictionary! So now WATCH the video to find out about what the {ELD} Wedding Style Dictionary is all about!

(What a wonderful place to capture a screenshot of the video! Thanks YouTube! NOT!)

So go ahead and take a look through the dictionary! The words are all alphabetical, and if there’s a word that you think should be included, just comment, send me an email, or tweet me about it!

Well sure you do! We all want free things, but when it’s something like photography, and it doesn’t cost you a thing…well why not?!

Joanna of Joanna Wilson Photography is celebrating her 6th year of business by giving away 2 portrait sessions! One will be for a couple or family in New York, and the other for a couple or family in California!

In Joanna’s words:

“We are asking you to submit your WORST family or couple’s portrait. And we mean WORST. Blurry, blown out and big hair are only some of the attributes of the photos we’re after. Send us your digital images, or scan in old 70s, 80s and certainly 90s portraits and email them to us. You can even mail us old prints if you’d like — we’ll scan them for you! Over the next two weeks, we’ll be posting some of our favorites on the JWP blog.

On Valentine’s Day, Brian and I will announce the winners. We’ll be choosing two winners: one family or couple from the New York metropolitan area, and one from Southern California. (Families and couples willing or planning to travel to either location within the next 6 months are welcome to submit.) The winners will receive:

– a FREE 2-hour outdoor portrait session with Joanna & Brian (2-3 locations)
– a high-resolution DVD of all images
– a private web gallery of our favorite images on the
new JWP website
– an 8×10 print of your favorite photo
– the satisfaction of knowing that you’ll never have to look at those horrific old photos ever again

So what are you waiting for?? The submission window is already open and will close precisely at 12AM EST on February 13th, 2010. Send your photos to us directly at jwp.info@gmail.com, and please include your name(s), your city/state and a caption for your AWFUL photograph.

We’re excited to see some absolutely terrifying pictures. Bring ’em on!”

I know everyone has one or two awful pictures hanging around. Go on and send Joanna and Brian your worst photos to win one of these portrait sessions!

I’ve been working on the {ELD} Wedding Style Dictionary, so of course I have a ton of different wedding styles running through my head. One of the styles that I’ve never blogged about is preppy. Using the word “preppy” really describes a type of clothing and manner of dress, but in the wedding world, that all translates into colors and patterns.

A preppy wedding showcases a lot of stripes and plaids. There are quite a few color combinations that scream “PREPPY”, but then again, it’s the manner of how the colors are presented that makes them “preppy”. Navy and yellow is an extremely common preppy color combination, but it’s my favorite, mostly because it has the color yellow.

Row 2: Arrangement, Boutonniere, Dresses

Row 3: Bridesmaids and Bride, Shoes

I LOVE those yellow dresses! Okay, I really love just about any yellow dress, but I would have jumped at the chance to buy that bridesmaid dress! Any other favorite preppy color combinations that you have?
