What do you get when you combine romance and with a moody look? The most gorgeous blush and burgundy wedding design, as you’re about to see for yourself through the images captured by Letter A Photography. Designer Jen Rios Weddings used the feminine shades of pink and blush and paired them with deep, moody tones of burgundy and black to create a look that is absolutely stunning. Lush, organic florals by Kate Foley Designs, and a breathtaking bride in lace completed the entire look perfectly. Oh, and did we mention the black taper candles yet? Yep, we’re pretty much IN LOVE with those as a more modern, sophisticated accent! We can’t wait for you to take in all of the beauty!

Chiara & Brian’s Seattle wedding is filled with tons of romance, drama, gorgeous flowers and delicious food! They met while performing with the Seattle Shakespeare Company, so coming from an acting background they wanted their wedding to feel like a dramatic progression of scenes. Their wedding day started with a romantic, light, and ethereal ceremony, progressing to a festive rooftop champagne + oyster hour (complete with a champagne tower and fresh shucked oysters). The cocktail hour was followed by a dark, moody, and romantic reception that focused on culinary delights and top-notch cocktails. And the evening ended with a rocking dance party into the wee hours of the night! Chiara is joining us today to share more about her planning experience, and we can’t wait for you to see all of the beauty that was planned by Perfectly Posh Events and captured by Jenny J Photography!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Holly Patton was indispensable. Truly. She is so organized, kind, professional, and hard-working. We couldn’t have done it without her.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

I wanted something that was romantic, luxe, and effortless. Paris, mixed with summer and the sea, and of course the beautiful sky and water of the Pacific Northwest. The ceremony was light, airy, with white flowers and greenery. The cocktail hour was on the rooftop with the beautiful Seattle Skyline. Then for dinner the flowers became more lush and dark, with jewel tones.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

It was important for things to feel very personal to us as a couple. We love food, wine, and cocktails. We’ve spent years devouring oyster happy hours. So our cocktail hour had to be oysters and champagne–which was a splurge but worth it! Brian also works in the beverage industry so that was an important element to him. He crafted cocktails and we had five different wines (sparkling, white, red, rose, and yes orange!). I felt it was important for there to be a progression from the beginning of the ceremony, through to the end of the night. I wanted the decor to reflect that. But most of all we wanted people to enjoy themselves!

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

I didn’t think I’d be a DIY kind of woman, but boy did I go for it. And it turned out really well–luckily! I hand painted our invitations, and hand dipped our food and drink menus. It was a labor of love done in a small NY apartment. But I’m so happy I did. We also made our wedding favors. Last but not least, our “table numbers” were coasters from our favorite bars and restaurants all over the country. My maid of honor, Angie, did beautiful calligraphy work for our invitations as well as some reception signage.

Spring is most definitely in the air, and these romantic pastel wedding ideas are the epitome of the beautiful season. The inspiration for this soft, lovely, design included a palette of soft corals, lavender and champagne, along with spring foliage and pops of whimsy. The charming vintage-style venue, Franciscan Gardens, was the perfect backdrop for this fruitful inspiration. Combining textures of whitewashed exposed wood farm tables with vintage china, colorful water goblets, and a variety of chairs in neutral hues brought this spring palette to life.

Nothing says spring better than fruit favors, like pears, combined with soft floral watercolor place cards and menus. The florals were dripping with light corals and lavenders with accents of vintage brass candlesticks. And we absolutely must mention the stunning whimsical circular arch, with pops of light coral and lavender miniature balloons combined with florals in shades of ivory, coral, and lavender. We are thrilled to share this inspiration with you today, and can’t wait for you to see the beauty that Lin & Jirsa captured!

Aside from choosing your venue, wedding planner, and the pros who will design your details and make sure you’re having fun, knowing how to hire a wedding photographer- researching, and let alone booking- can feel like such a…task. But, just like so many other wedding planning moments, finding your wedding photographer doesn’t have to be so hard! Instead, it’s all about turning to the people you trust most (family and friends… and us at ELD too!) and taking a moment to pay close attention to websites, responses, and how everything makes you feel.

Because we know you’re likely already envisioning the experience you hope to have, we thought it was time to talk more about how to find your wedding photographer. And, we’re not just talking about finding your photographer from the standpoint of what his or her packages include and whether that’s ideal for your day. We also want to be sure you’re thinking of the style of photography that looks ideal to you, as well as the moments you hope are captured for you to frame from your engagement and wedding day. So, we’re sharing our very own V List member Kimberly Photography’s advice about how to hire a wedding photographer, because her tips from her blog are on point!

How To Hire A Wedding Photographer via TheELD.com

Step 1 – Ask Around!

This is the fun part! After photographing weddings for the past 15 years, I’ve got some stories and I bet your friends do too. Recently married couples are the perfect people to ask about their experiences with wedding vendors. They can tell you what they loved and didn’t love when working with their creative team. Here is where you get to sit back and hear all of the wonderful, crazy, out of this world stories! The other fantastic question to ask your friends, family, co-worker, or other wedding vendors…(you get the idea) is what would they do different? Let their life lessons help guide you on what’s best for you. Take the highly recommended vendors from your loved ones and create a list of names, websites, and phone numbers.

Step 2 – Pick Your Favorites & Inquire

Your photographer is one of the very few vendors that is literally by your side…ALL DAY LONG. It’s important that you not only trust your photographer, but feel comfortable around them too. You should get a good feel for the photographer’s personality before ever making contact. Take the time to check out the photographer’s about page and reviews section. These details are just as important as looking at their galleries to see their favorite images and blog for the most recent events.

Once you’ve narrowed down your initial list to the ones you are most excited about contacting…it’s time to inquire! Either give a call or fill out the photographer’s contact form. Pay close attention to the responses you receive as this can make or break a deal already.

Step 3 – What’s Your Experience So Far?

You’ve done quite a bit of work thus far, so while you’re waiting to hear back from your submitted inquiries, let’s take a breather. Grab your favorite drink and loved one and cuddle up for a minute.

Ah. That’s better! Okay, so let’s talk about your experience with each photographer up to this point. Your experience with each photographer begins from receiving your recommendations. Your next experience happens when you visited their website. Your third experience happens when you inquire and the type of response you receive. How did each one make you feel? Did everyone respond to you? Did they sound excited you said hello? Now you can narrow down your list of who you want to continue talking with.

Click here to continue on to Steps 4 and 5!

Don’t these three things make you feel better already? We like to think of them as how to hire a wedding photographer…simplified. Those are just the first three tips from Kimberly’s post, and there are two more for you to review on her blog!
