Inspired by the color and uniqueness of the mid-century time period, these romantic, modern wedding ideas are gorgeous! This design is a perfect look for any time of year, and we cannot wait for you to see all that Kelsey Rae Designs created and Plum & Oak Photo captured!

From Kelsey Rae Designs:

“I am so thankful to be able to collaborate with such talented vendors in our industry! When Jenny from Happily Ever Etched + Elyse of Plum & Oak Photo asked me to come on board for this shoot at The Fig House, I knew it was going to be amazing! We wanted to play off the colorful mid-century vibes of the venue and embrace the funkiness. We wanted to showcase every detail involved on a wedding day; from special craft cocktails, to geometric shaped menus + place cards, to a modern sleek dress, to a nice spread of appetizers and furniture vignettes to make you swoon!”

From the photographer, Elyse of Plum & Oak Photo:

“I know from my own perspective, I think we really nailed a shoot that isn’t seasonal. I think it can be adapted to any season because it’s neither dark, nor light + bright which is helpful to the couples planning their wedding who do not want to look back on their wedding photos and remember it as a distinctly spring wedding (or fall, or winter, etc.). And we were certainly inspired by the mid-century modern vibes and thus chose a dress and decor that matched (like Taryn’s stationery that featured funky angles, a nod to the funky design elements of the mid-century).”

We of course love all of the details that were incorporated into this design… especially those table numbers and the cake table!

One of the things we love most about wedding designs is when there is a theme, and this jewel toned vintage romantic wedding look is perfection! (And no, we don’t mean just any theme- we mean a theme where there is a story and intention behind it!) Taking place at one of Central Florida’s newest venues, The Howey Mansion, Kristen Weaver Photography captured this gorgeous look, including a stunning custom invitation created by Heather O’Brien Design. We are so excited to share all of the beauty with you! Kristen’s team was behind the planning of this look, and they are joining us today to share more behind their inspiration:

The idea for this styled shoot was an old-world style with an updated feel. Two things instantly inspired our shoot, first – our incredible venue, The Historic Howey Mansion, and second – our bride and groom!

The mansion restoration was incredible. We fell in love with everything as soon as we pulled into the driveway. It was just the type of “vintage romance” we were looking for. Nothing could top this 1920’s palace. We admired the natural elegance and beauty that both the building and its grounds emitted. Every inch of this beautiful mansion screamed romance, like the old chandeliers and mixed-tile terrace. We wanted to design our shoot to enhance it’s natural beauty.

We loved the idea of having a real couple, so when Khoury and Courtney shared their story with us we knew they were a perfect fit. They got married in a courthouse ceremony because of Khoury’s job in the US Navy. This inspired us to give them both the wedding they always dreamed about having.

Being the very first shoot at the Howey Mansion, we wanted to let its beauty speak for itself. The floral team from Raining Roses Productions blew us completely away. From the bouquets to the elaborate centerpieces, to the candelabras at the altar, to even the cutest floral collar for Max! Our focus for this shoot was a darker romance. We used velvet with deep jewel tone colors and black accents for an intimate feel. RW Style created a stunning emerald lounge area in the ballroom – and it was the perfect representation of our theme… vintage, velvet and jewel tones.

We are absolutely loving this colorful take on a mid century modern wedding! This vendor team wanted to create an intimate gathering perfect for a couple that appreciates the vibrance of the 50’s and 60’s, while also adding a fresh, modern take, and the result was fabulous!  Jade & Joy Events is joining us today to describe more of the inspiration behind this design that was so beautifully captured by Mary Sarah Photography– we can’t wait for you to take it all in!

This wedding is for a special type of bride who envisions a tad more than an elopement, but less than a larger wedding. She wants the intimacy of close friends surrounding her on her special day, celebrating in the space she feels the most comfortable: home. The patterns and colors of the mid-sixties tied together envelope this grown-up, eclectic woman. We wanted to capture the vision of a modern couple who loves mid-century design and wants a colorful, updated take on that style for their day.

Shanda from Flor de Casa Designs did a phenomenal job combining the bright yellows, oranges, and greens of the mid-century color palette of our shoot with the feminine touch of vibrant purples and pinks to create fresh, inviting bouquets and centerpieces. By hand-placing florals in the garland on the arch and in the lounge corner, we were able to add pops of color that connected all of the floral elements together.

The tablescape was provided by Boheme’s Jubilee, including the the table, plates, and flatware. Combining the old and the new with modern grey plates and rose gold flatware placed alongside Ann Margaret Ceramics’ handmade serving platters really tied the mid-century modern look together. Flor de Casa Designs’ centerpiece was the last touch to round out the look and add the right touch of vibrance to the neutral place settings.

The pitchers, platters, and salad bowl were handmade ceramics by Ann Margaret Ceramics, a potter located in Baltimore. We were ecstatic when, upon us telling her our vision, she offered to make each piece specifically for the shoot. Each item was hand painted following our color palette, making them a perfect nod for to mid-century modern couple. Each element of this shoot was hand-picked by our team, including the handmade small geometric shapes on the cake table created by Kelsey’s husband.

This color palette is so incredibly cheerful! And we love the concept of something that is a little more than an elopement- sounds like perfection to us!

This Rosemary Beach wedding, captured by Pure7Studios, is romantic, intimate, and filled with so many beautiful moments. We asked Ashley and James’ wedding planner, Heather from Defining Moments Weddings & Events, to share more about working with these two…

“Ashley + JD first reached out to me about beginning their wedding planning process, about 4-months prior to their event.  From the start, they knew two things.  1. – Rosemary Beach would be the perfect wedding venue for them.  2. – They wanted the day to be “quaint, intimate, fun and personalized through their design details.”  With the help of Florals by the Sea and Townsend Catering Company, we were able to create an event that reflected these wishes for the Bride and Groom.

The wedding day was absolutely beautiful and focused on family and celebration.  Pastor Jack Hankins worked closely with Ashley + JD, to create a very personal and meaningful service at the Rosemary Beach Town Hall, which included Communion celebrated with the entire congregation and special vows which JD offered to Ashley’s son, Jett.  For their Eastern Green reception, a 3-course dinner at one long banquet-style farm table celebrated the newlyweds, while bringing to life Ashley’s vision of a large family dinner.  Following dinner, guests packed the dance floor to celebrate the new couple to the sounds of Big Bling and the Funk Machine.”

“I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ashley, JD, Jett and both of their families.  The event can truly be summed up in 2 words…love and family.  The wedding was amazing and a celebration of these two aspects of their life.  And for me, it was so rewarding to get to know this beautiful couple and watch the beginning of their story unfold as a new family.  They weren’t just planning a beautiful destination wedding.  They were planning a new life together as a family.  And this is one of the most rewarding things you can see in my job.  Congratulations!  We adore you!”

How amazing is all of that greenery used throughout the reception decor?! It’s elegant, but yet still has an air of relaxation, perfect for this Rosemary Beach wedding!
