Y’all know that I LOVE me some good Mr & Mrs signs, and these burlap chair signs from this wedding most definitely fall into that category! Plus, how PERFECT are they for infusing a bit of country burlap into your wedding decor?!

I think Mr & Mrs signs are one of the best details- they don’t have to be too labor-intensive, and they’re the perfect way to continue on with your wedding’s style or theme! I’m curious to know if any of you are planning on doing Mr & Mrs signs… and what you’re planning on doing!

A Southern wedding at its finest. With mason jars, vintage teacups, and a tea station as well as a bit of sparkle, pop of color, and lots of fantastic details, Sarah and Joe did it right. Thankfully Alecia Lauren Photography was on hand to capture it all. And wait until you see these flower girls…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom and fiancé were both extremely helpful throughout the planning process. They helped organize the details and were always there to lean on. We had the bridal party get pampered at the venue the day of the wedding. Having my mom and bridesmaids there to laugh with helped me relax. My maid of honor was on top of everything! She made sure I really got to enjoy every minute of the big day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Reputation and a “good fit” are so important! As someone in the wedding industry, I know how important it is to have a good reputation among not only brides but other vendors. You can really get to know who works hard, who is on time, who goes the extra mile if you just ask around. Finding someone who you click with will make the planning process more enjoyable. This is especially key for your photographer and planner since you will be spending most of your time with these two.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The south and a lemonade bottle were my inspiration for the wedding. I wanted mason jars, milk glass, southern treats, and a venue that felt like an old (charming) family home. The pink lemonade bottle was old fashioned and had a navy label that inspired our colors scheme.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

There are so many things I loved about our wedding! If I had to choose, I would have to say the sweets! I loved the cupcake table with antique cups and the old fashioned ice cream bar.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Hire a wedding planner! If that isn’t in your budget, at least hire someone to take care of the details on the big day. These professionals will make sure all the details are covered, will maintain the timeline, and organize all of the vendors on the bride’s behalf. A planner or coordinator can also take on unpleasant situations that can arise between family members and vendors. The peace of mind and freedom to enjoy the process is worth every penny!

I can’t help but love when brides take a simple piece of inspiration (like a lemonade bottle!) and turn it into a wedding full of color and cool detail. And I obviously love when brides recognize the importance of hiring a planner or coordinator. I’m telling you, it makes a world of difference.

Last but certainly not least, a BIG HUGE GIGANTIC congratulations to Lauren on the launch of ELD 2.0 (isn’ t it just amazing?!) and the celebration of THREE incredible blogging years. Happy Birthday, ELD! I love being a part of this community!

It’s pretty chilly up here in Connecticut, y’all, so I was pleased as punch to scroll through this bright, fun Florida wedding from Pure7Studios. I do love a beach wedding and adore the simplicity of Aleah and Will’s ceremony site. Fresh white fabric billowing in the breeze? Yes, please and thank you! It makes me long for Summer’s warmth on my face and my toes in the sand. Gorgeous bride, Aleah, gives her thoughts on her big day below:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My fiance, now husband, really was a huge help during the planning process. We worked on the wedding together and he helped me make decisions. Our wedding was something that we really wanted to reflect our personalities. We wanted something unique that was customized for us and we really worked together to make that happen! I would also have to say our families were so helpful. We all got to Destin a week before the wedding and had a wonderful week long vacation to enjoy each other’s company. Both of our parents helped us to get everything ready for the big weekend, my sister and sister-in-laws were always asking if we needed any help with anything. It was really a big family wedding and everyone pitched in to make it work!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We wanted to work with someone who could understand our personalities and was able to understand our vision then recommend things that fit within that vision. We wanted these people to be responsive and able to execute our plans, and we also wanted someone who was fun and able to bring ideas to the table.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Bright colors, the beach – colors, feeling, atmosphere (I wanted a very laid back/party atmosphere), fun!, friends/family, nature. Everything that I love I wanted to bring together into one look and feel.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I have a lot but I will only name a few:

Being on the beach with all of our family and friends was perfect. I feel totally at peace on the beach, it was absolutely exactly what I wanted.

My dad really wanted to dance to the song “Coming Around Again” by Carly Simon. It was a song I had always loved as a little girl but I had told him I’d rather dance to something that was more fast paced to keep it fun and light. When it came down to it, this song meant the most to him so I went with it. I don’t regret choosing that song at all, it was so much better to dance to something that had meaning to the both of us than a random fast paced song. The look on his face and the happiness we shared together was beautiful and I’m so glad we got to enjoy that moment together.

We chose the readings for our beach wedding ourselves and they really meant a lot to us. When my cousin, Natalie and our very good friend, Ryan read them it was the only time I cried. The first was “A Lovely Love Story” by Edward Monkton (this is something we came across in our search for a good reading and it described each of us perfectly, we immediately fell in love with it). The second was a verse from one of our favorite Talking Heads songs, “Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place)”.

As I just mentioned above regarding our reading, my husband and I and all of our friends really love the Talking Heads. At the end of the night, the band had finished, and we put on the song “Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place)” by the Talking Heads and played it over the speakers and everyone danced and sang to it. It was a moment I will always remember!

The groom’s cake was a Ghostbuster’s Stay Puft Marshmallow Man cake. It was awesome!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Soak up the attention and have fun with it and don’t take yourself (or your plans) too seriously! If you have a vision, definitely see it through but there will come a time that you will just have to let go and wish for the best and trust that others will do their jobs. If you surround yourself with people you love and want to be around, it will all work out, no matter what dilemma gets in the way! It flies by, so make sure you enjoy every second!

Aleah mentioned the amazing groom’s cake. I’m dying over the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! Are you planning an unusual groom’s cake? I’d love to hear your ideas!

XOXO,
Carlee

Happy Friday friends! So it has been a BIG week here at ELD!!! By now I’m sure you’ve discovered that things are a little different here at ELD (and if you haven’t yet, go take a look around and then come on back) thanks to the launch of ELD 2.0 this past Monday. But I have yet *another* thing to celebrate this week, because TODAY IS EVERY LAST DETAIL’S OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY! (Or anniversary… or blogiversary… I really haven’t decided what to call it.)

Happy Birthday ELD + Wedding Photography Giveaway! via TheELD.com

That’s right… 3 years ago, on December 7th, 2009, Every Last Detail officially launched. It was just a tiny post “announcing” the official launch, and it wasn’t the prettiest or best site ever, but it was my own little corner of the internet that I decided to lovingly refer to as Every Last Detail. 3 years ago, I had just been laid off from a desk job, was working part time in the wedding industry, was newly married, and had recently coordinated one of my first weddings. At the time, I totally thought I was going to be a wedding planner- I had no clue that ELD would go in the direction that it did. If you had told me on that day 3 years ago that I would be blogging full time, I would have thought you were crazy! And now, here I am, 3 years later! It’s been quite a journey, and I’ll be honest- sometimes I don’t quite know what the plan is and things can get a tad bit stressful… but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

With the launch of the new ELD, a super amazing inspiration-shoot-turned-dinner-party on Wednesday night, and now the 3 year “birthday”, I’ve spent a lot of time this week reflecting on how far both I and ELD have come. The word that keeps repeating over and over in my head is: thankful. Thankful for the great friends I’ve made who I would have never met if it weren’t for Twitter and the wedding world (yes, I admit it- I have Twitter to thank for many of my friends). Thankful for having a wonderful, supportive community in all of you. Thankful for the pushes when I need them, and reining in when necessary too (I tend to have LOTS of ideas and no time to do them…). Thankful for the people who have trusted me with the marketing of their businesses, and the relationships that I’ve been able to build with them at the same time. Thankful for my lovely contributors who enable me to provide even more pretty to you all. Thankful that my husband and family- although they really don’t understand what I do- have given me nothing but support. Yes, it’s most definitely been an overwhelming- and crazy- week of thankfulness over here! And so on that note…
