What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I did not have a wedding planner so I did most of it myself. Pinterest and Etsy were huge in helping me plan my wedding. My older sister and now sister-in-law were also a huge inspiration and help since they had both recently gotten married before me. I decided to get a day of coordinator last minute and let me tell you, it was the BEST DECISION I made! I seriously would have been lost without Christina Harris with Swanky Soiree Events. She saved the day in so many ways!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When deciding who to work with, quality was number one but we also wanted vendors who were easy to work with and made it fun. You are spending lots of time with some of them on the day of so I wanted to make sure my bridal party and I had a really fun experience. Our photographers, Concept Photography, were not only the best photographers I interviewed, but they were an absolute pleasure to work with and helped make the day so much fun! There were numerous vendors who after we interviewed them, we just knew they were the perfect fit. And we were right!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I really wanted our wedding to be a true reflection of Ryan and me. I wanted the details to show how much our family, friends, and God mean to us and the huge role they play in our lives. We used the details to help honor our families and guest. We also chose details and designs that reflected our personalities. My husband is a huge fisherman and so are many of his friends, so we incorporated that into our theme. I am a huge country music fan so I incorporated one of my favorite country music quotes and attached it to a shot of Fireball Whiskey which was given out for our toast.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved every last second of it. What I really loved was seeing all of my DIY projects come to fruition. It was a lot of work but so worth it and it made the wedding more personalized. I created and/or designed a lot of the details that meant so much to me, such as the hanging pictures on the church pews of my dad and other family members who could not attend, the dedication to our parents chalkboard sign and coasters, the “thank you” placemats written to our guest, and so much more. When I walked into the reception for the first time, I was blown away and so happy to see all of the personalized details set up. It made it that much more meaningful and memorable.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

The wedding day was amazing. It exceeded my every expectation. And everyone says to enjoy the day because it goes so fast. And that is so true. But one of the parts I miss the most, is the planning process (I never thought I would say that!!) But I loved all the bonding that occurred during it, with my mom, and my husband’s family as well. Going dress shopping, cake tasting, picking out decorations. Those are memories with my mom and now in-laws that I will forever cherish. As absolutely chaotic, stressful, and overwhelming as it can be, it is such an exciting time in life you can’t get back. Make it a point to enjoy it! And do not get caught up trying to put on a “show” or to impress anyone, make it meaningful to you and your guest and it will shine through in all the details.

I love how Ashley incorporated fish into their wedding design to reflect Ryan’s love for fishing- and in such an elegant way too!

Are any of you adding a specific detail to your wedding to reflect a favorite hobby? What will you be doing?

Emily of E.M. Anderson Photography shared a little bit of the inspiration behind this shoot:

“As a photographer in Florida, I see a lot of beach weddings but rarely do I see one where the ocean itself plays a prominent place in the design, colors and mood.  There is such grace, simplicity and wildness in the ocean, so those are themes that we really drew from for the design. It was very important to me to help inspire brides to have a beach wedding where the sea and all it’s hidden treasures are treated with the respect and admiration they so richly deserve. Emily Grace Design did such a phenomenal job incorporating natural elements for the decor, like using sea grape leaves as escort cards and building the table design around large manzanita ‘driftwood’ pieces.  Our model, Cayla, was stunning in her custom gown and she really looked as if she could have just stepped out from the sea. I hope that this shoot is as inspiring to others as it is to me, and that it reminds us to cherish and protect the beauty of our oceans.”

Oh, and guess what?! You can see more of this gorgeous beach wedding inspiration over at Floridian Weddings! Head on over there for more of the beauty!

I know I would LOVE to see more beach weddings like this, wouldn’t you? On that note- will any of you be having a beach wedding? What are your design plans for it?

Some of the most stunning color palette choices are those that are a bit untraditional. They’re the ones that make you do a double take and think more openly about incorporating a different style, detail, or even color. While we adore details, today is dedicated to our top 10 favorite fall wedding color palettes. They’re a mix of traditional and untraditional, classic and modern, and we hope they make you want to celebrate the Fall season whether you opt for orange and red, pink and aqua, or even white.

Even though summer may have come to a close, there’s no reason to shy away from whimsical color palettes full of pink, orange, red, and aqua in the fall.

During the fall, you don’t have to shy away from lighter colors, like pink… but think about pairing light tones with deeper shades, like dark red.

Neutral tones are lovely no matter what the season, so we absolutely suggest incorporating white and neutrals during the fall.

When the scenery surrounding you is absolutely stunning, you can’t help but be inspired by it, and this Utah wedding is a gorgeous example. Liz and Chase knew that the mountains would do a superb job of accenting their ceremony, so they went along with that same concept and infused lots of lush greenery and glowing candlelight into their wedding decor. Pepper Nix Photography captured it all, and lucky for us, Liz is here today sharing her insight and experience…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Having a wedding planner for the day of the wedding was a huge help. I was able to relax leading up to the wedding, and I was completely oblivious to any mishaps or drama. As far as I know, the day went perfectly!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We wanted to work with people who knew the venue and came with good recommendations. My husband grew up vacationing in Park City, and he knew exactly where to have the wedding.  I completely trusted him on the venue, but I knew that I would need to work with people I could really trust since I had never seen the wedding site.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The scenery. We knew that the mountains were going to do most of the decorating for us during our outdoor ceremony , and we didn’t want our wedding decor to try to compete with the scenery. We wanted the whole wedding weekend to be an opportunity for all of our loved ones to take in the beauty of Utah and share a great experience in this place that we love. The reception was romantic with candles everywhere and loose greenery decorating the chandeliers. We hung lanterns filled with candles and overflowing with flowers over the dance floor in the ballroom for a rustic outdoors feel.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

We loved that we were able to spend so much quality time with our loved ones throughout the wedding. We kept the guest list small enough that we were never overwhelmed. We also kept our schedule pretty lax. I was able to have great experiences with my bridesmaids before the wedding like going for hikes, hanging out in the spa, and having a slumber party in my suite the night before the wedding. It was a great vacation with all my favorite people where I got to marry the man that I love. Couldn’t ask for more.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Take a few minutes throughout your wedding to look around and take it in. It goes by so quickly and it’s easy for it to become a blur if you don’t make yourself slow down and enjoy the moment.

Aw, I love Liz’s advice! It’s so true- it really does go by quickly, so her tip to take it in is something I would definitely recommend also!

It’s such a great idea to be inspired by the surrounding scenery of where your wedding is taking place. Are any of you also inspired by your wedding’s location?
