Alana and Justin met online, got engaged under a waterfall during a trip to see his family in South Africa, and it’s safe to say their Gainesville wedding day at Sweetwater Branch Inn was completely lovely. They’re both inspired by their heritages, travel, and places they’ve lived, so all three played important roles during their ceremony and reception and also in their décor.

The pair were married in November, so they opted for a darker color palette. Alana’s off the shoulder lace dress is jaw-dropping, and I love how the bridesmaids continued the lace trend in their black gowns. The bouquets by Prange’s Florist are incredible, and I love how the beauty only continued inside their reception where animals served as table numbers as a nod to their engagement trip!

Masterpiece Weddings planned all of the beauty, and Emily Katherine Photography captured every image. It’s safe to say, I’m thrilled to share Alana and Justin’s unique, fun, and poignant day with you below!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mom was so amazingly patient and supportive during the planning process, from finding and meeting with vendors to dealing with me being completely overwhelmed by many of the planning decisions. I wouldn’t have been able to make it through the planning without her!  Our photographer was also so patient and relaxing to work with – I instantly trusted her and by the wedding day she felt like part of the family.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

To find people who were low stress, not pushy with their own ideas, and who understood I wasn’t someone who had been dreaming about my wedding for years! I wanted people I trusted so that I didn’t have to think about anything on the wedding day. I ended up with an amazing group of vendors who I would hands down recommend to anyone.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I wanted something that felt natural, warm, and inviting but also elegant and romantic. My husband is South African and since we decided to have the wedding in Florida, I wanted to incorporate as many South African touches as much as possible. You’ll see a lot of details with a South African influence – the proteas in the bouquets, the animal table “numbers,” the favors… I was thrilled with how everything came out.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

It felt like an amazing party where we had a ton of fun with the people we care about the most.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Try not to make your vision too specific, especially with the details. One of my favorite memories of the wedding day was walking into the reception hall and seeing that everything had turned out so much better than I imagined it would. Finding vendors I trusted allowed me to give them the freedom to take my ideas and make the wedding better than I could have!

Nikki and Ryan felt as though they were taking a risk when they opted for a wine themed wedding for their day at Orlando’s Cyprus Grove Estate. Wine corks were accented with flowers for the gents’ boutonnieres, wine barrels were stationed on either side of their aisle, and wine bottles served as table numbers. With help and guidance from their wedding planner, Runway Events, it’s safe to say their risk paid off beautifully! Pink, red, grey, and gold filled their wedding day palette – a gorgeous combination for a New Year’s Day soiree! Rustic details meet lovely notes of glam in today’s fete (plus a dessert bar with donuts!), and I’m so excited to share the photos taken by Captured by Belinda and Nikki’s best advice below. Keep reading, y’all!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

This question is a toss up–  it’s between my fabulous wedding planner who truly helped me with familiarizing myself with how weddings work, styling, and getting everything coordinated day of so I had nothing to worry about. My sister, aka maid of honor, who was always around whatever I needed whether it was just to vent, give me advice, or just making sure my guests were having a good time on wedding day. However, I really think this honor has to go to my husband for supporting me throughout the wedding process from beginning to end and for making me feel beautiful on our special day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important thing was professionalism. I needed to find a team that was organized, timely at responding to emails, and able to answer all my questions.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My  husband and I decided on a wine themed wedding – I mean who doesn’t like wine?  We thought we could utilize the common day wine materials for DIY projects to help save costs. Searching Pinterest and the web we started to develop our picture perfect wedding. We decided on a winter color palate that both captured a mixture of elegance and rustic qualities: A luscious rustic pink, glamorous gold, deep red, and gray blue. With the help of family and friends we made a luxurious wine cork chandelier, eye catching wine bottle trays, and spray painted wine bottles with DIY labels for center pieces. We captured our theme with two flower filled wine barrels lining our ceremony aisle, a wine barrel table topped with a beautiful candy display, and the rustic elegance of our sweet heart table set.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Honestly just getting to marry the guy I love. :)

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My one word of advice to future Brides is do not be afraid to take risks. Enjoy the process and just be in love.

Greg and Kelly became Mr. and Mrs. on their St. Petersburg wedding day at The Vinoy Renaissance, which has an effortlessly beautiful feel that definitely has to do with it’s pink exterior! Even though a thunderstorm caused their ceremony to be moved inside, the aisle was still lined with blush rose petals and draped with ivory fabric. Plus, a chandelier hung overhead! The reception space featured blush and ivory blooms perfect for the classic ballroom setting, and I’m sure the pair danced the night away with their guests.

We adore V List member Lana Ponomarenko Photography, so I’m thrilled to share the lovely photos she captured of this pair’s sweet day. Hint: the portraits are fabulous!

There’s always at least one detail in every wedding that becomes a fast favorite, and today, it’s Kelly’s incredible wedding dress. I’m obsessed with the high neckline and lace details, and I couldn’t help but smile when I learned Kelly purchased her dress from one of our favorites, Malindy Elene. I’m more than convinced this Tampa bridal boutique has the best dresses, friends!
