Hey there friends! I figured it was about time for a little personal post here on ELD- it’s been quite some time since my last one! Rightfully so of course, because running a blog full time is no joke- I laugh when people ask me what I do in my free time, because my answer is, “Um, work… what else is there to do?” The truth is, I love what I do, and am so very thankful for the ability to share about weddings, wedding planning, and love each and every day!

I do have a few updates to share with you all though, but let’s start with one very important tidbit:

That’s right! After 15 years together (8 years dating and 7 years married), my husband and I are finally at the point in our lives where we are ready to buy and house and start a family! It’s all happened a bit fast- faster than the planner in me would care for- but it must mean that it’s meant to be!

And while I of course already shared this news on my personal Facebook page (because no announcement is real without it being “Facebook Official”) I’m sharing this here on ELD because all of you reading these pages, even though I may not know you- you mean the world to me. You are the reason that ELD exists, and I felt like this was news that needed to be shared with you! Not only that, but a new house and new baby also means that I myself will be tackling a few projects and new experiences over the next few months and beyond.

So, I’m excited to share that soon I will be adding a few new types of posts to Every Last Detail- “ELD Life” posts! Every Last Detail Life has been something on my mind for quite some time- even before a house and baby. Besides, after your wedding comes marriage… and LIFE, right?! My husband and I love to cook together, I love decorating, and he is incredibly knowledgable in all things health and nutrition. In addition to this, we’ll be doing a few projects for our new home, and of course learning all kinds of things about babies and being parents. As someone who is always turning to the Internet for answers, I’d love to share what we learn with you here on ELD!

Now don’t you worry- ELD Life posts definitely won’t be taking over… I still eat, sleep, and breathe weddings! “Life” posts will likely be a few times a month, and will encompass food, decor, fashion, baby, business, and whatever life throws at us! And while these posts aren’t starting quite yet, I thought sharing this new development in the world of ELD would be the perfect time to go along with our personal news!

Oh, and a few other updates- we’re also working on a new homepage design for ELD… I think you’re going to love it! AND, I’m working on something special for wedding pros too! We may also be growing the ELD Team, so be sure to keep an eye out for more on that! Lots and lots of exciting things happening over here at ELD Headquarters (aka my current home office)!

Now pardon me as I go take a nap- this growing a human stuff is exhausting!

Today’s 1920s inspired wedding ideas are absolutely breathtaking! A color palette featuring neutral shades of white, green, and blush creates the most romantic setting, while accents of rose gold and brass add a beautiful touch of vintage elegance. The bride dons the most stunning 1920s inspired, art-deco beaded gown, and the groom is oh-so-dapper in a gray suit. We think you are going to be incredibly inspired by this beautiful wedding design, and we can’t wait for you to see all that was captured by Camarie Photography!

From Camarie Photography:

Downton Abbey has always fascinated me. Not only because it’s an amazing television series, but that particular era- the style clothing, furniture, and overall ambiance captivates me. I’ve always been a bit partial the 1920’s style, but mix that with English Edwardian and I am hooked! We went for a more neutral color pallet mixing deep greens with blush tones and a hint of gold. The florals remained true to that era with a long stem bouquet the bride would cradle. The beaded art-deco dress fit perfectly for our theme!

Ever since today’s bride saw Father of the Bride, she’s been in love with the idea of an elegant backyard wedding. She got her wish with the help of her landlord, who opened their gorgeous home for this couple’s big day, and Sweet Julep Photography was there to capture it all. The color palette shows springtime at it’s best, with teal pairing perfectly with a soft peach. The teal tulle Jenny Yoo bridesmaid dresses are what dreams are made of and the florals by Laurel Greene Studio completed the enchanted garden look. And while we are all about the details here at ELD… could this couple be any more adorable? Their smiles and joy are so infectious, securing their wedding day as a favorite!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

In the process – My now husband! With his background in engineering and business, he was incredibly important to helping me determine how to prioritize, allocate funds, and negotiate contracts. In close second, my maid of honor. She was there every step of the way to go to wedding dress fittings with me, pick out bridesmaids’ dresses, make site visits, work on invitations, and so much more.

On the wedding day – Our reception coordinator, Allison Westlake. We met a couple of times before the wedding to nail down day-of needs and the timeline. She executed the timing of everything so well, and it really helped me relax and not worry with the details on that day!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with people I respected as artists and who caught Hunter and I’s vision. I never had to over-communicate what I wanted, because our vendors were so well aligned with our own style.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Ever since I saw “Father of the Bride” when I was younger, I had always dreamed of a backyard reception. When I saw my landlord’s backyard, I knew it was perfect. That elegant, relaxed garden style became the tone for the rest of the wedding. I also loved the colors of the stained-glass in the chapel where we were married – a soft palette that we drew from in our invitations, flowers, and other details.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

We chose to place our cake table under a wooden arbor in the backyard. My florist, Staci, really did an amazing job filling it out with beautiful greenery and roses. When I saw it at the reception, it took my breath away!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

If it isn’t something you love, or something that your guests will love, don’t do it. You can easily put that money into something with a better return. Take time to discuss your priorities with your groom and family, and when issues come up during the process go back to that list and see where it fits in. It helped me stay sane!

Copper is the big new metallic this year and we are even more in love with it after seeing this intimate coastal North Carolina wedding from Taken by Sarah Photography. From the beautiful florals (seriously, who thought you could get that copper color in a flower?) to the cog cake decoration, Phyllis and Aaron beautifully infused copper details to help create the fun and laid-back wedding they’d been dreaming of. Moscow mules were, of course, the signature drink of choice to help get the party started. But our favorite detail has to be the bread loaf place cards! We love when details work double duty and think this is a genius idea! Enjoy all of the gorgeous friends!
