Because the bride’s sister was married at her family’s stunning property in North Carolina, Jessica immediately knew she wanted to continue the tradition with her own elegant backyard wedding. At the very beginning of the fall, Jessica and Wes exchanged their vows in front of a pond that is home to a black swan under beautiful white draping and clusters of stunning vintage-inspired blooms. Post ceremony, the couple joined their guests under a tent to dance the night away with family and friends (one of Jessica’s favorite things about their wedding day!). Thank you so much to AJ Dunlap Photography for sending such a stunning wedding our way! Hint: y’all are going to adore sweet bride Jessica’s advice below.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom definitely helped me the most in my planning process. She was there to help me with every detail from picking out my wedding dress to choosing the centerpieces. On the wedding day my wedding coordinator helped keep everything in place and helped keep everyone on schedule.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When deciding who to work with for my wedding I relied a lot on who my sister’s used for their weddings. However, for the other vendors that I chose on my own I relied on how well I got along with them and how prompt they were at responding to my questions.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

A lot of my inspiration came from Pinterest. I loved the blush and gold color so I tried to stick with that theme. I also wanted an elegant and romantic vibe so I chose details such as pearls and roses.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

In general, my favorite thing about my wedding was the time I got to spend celebrating with my family and friends. My favorite moment was riding away from the ceremony with my husband in a vintage car my parents rented for the occasion.

What is your best piece of advice for other couples?

My advice to other couples would be to have fun planning the wedding and not to stress about the small stuff. Just enjoy the process and remember that no matter what happens, you will still be married by the end of the day!

Jessica was inspired by soft shades of pink, champagne, ivory, and gold for her wedding palette, and she also knew she wanted to include pearl details. Bouquets were filled with garden roses, roses, and hydrangea, and the same blooms were used again in the ceremony and reception spaces. I adore the bridesmaids’ long blush gowns, and I love how some chose to accessorize with pearl necklaces! Gold was used thoughtfully throughout every inch of the design, and I also love the white on white wedding invitations. J+W’s soiree was meaningful and completely beautiful, plus it poured but they were never bothered because they were MARRIED.
