This St. Augustine wedding’s color palette might not be specifically patriotic themed, but the colors are close enough, and we are loving it! A palette of navy and burgundy with hints of blush give this romantic day a bit of bold elegance. Lindsay and Ezekiel turned to ELD favorite The Eventful Gals to help them create a beautiful day, and we think it’s safe to say that they were ecstatic with the result! The emotions felt through the images captured by Stout Studios will have you feeling like you were a a guest at this St. Augustine wedding day at The White Room, and we can’t wait for you to see all the beauty! Oh, and Lindsay is joining us to share her insight about her wedding planning- she has some excellent tips, so be sure to look for her responses!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

I saw the Villa Blanca on Pinterest and that became my vision for what I wanted my wedding to be.  Little did I know at the time how close it was to us, let alone in the city I frequently visited as a child. Once, I found out how close it was, it was a done deal.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

We wanted people to have a good time. We have all been to weddings where you are waiting a long time for things to happen, you are starving and/or it takes hours for the bride and groom to reappear. We wanted to be part of all of it and we were able to be due to our Beyoncé (Francesca of the Eventful Gals) and our incredible vendor team.  Also, we wanted our guests to be well fed and their drinks heavily poured.

GET THE VIDEO! It seems like a lot at the time, but my goodness it’s the best thing to have those memories.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

I’m so glad we had a great photographer and planner who encouraged us to do the first look. While the whole wedding was immensely emotional, I’m glad certain moment were kept between the two of us. Also, the final last dance, also highly recommended by our DJ and Francesca , tied everything up nicely and gave us a moment to appreciate all that had happened that day and look forward to all the adventures to come.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Hire the planner. It’s YOUR day. Enjoy it. And get the video. I watch it ALL THE TIME.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Listen, I’m not the girl that planned her wedding since she was five. I genuinely thought millions of people get married every year how hard can it be to plan one. It’s stressful AF. I would have drowned had it not been for Francesca Cooper of The Eventful Gals. I had zero idea what I was doing. She’s fantastic, she listens to what you want and makes it happen. She thinks of things I didn’t know I needed or wanted. She also made sure what was important to me was included.

From Francesca of The Eventful Gals:

There are no words to explain my relationship with Lindsay. She waltzed into my office after booking one of the regions best photographers and basically gave me the reigns to the rest of her event. She wanted to incorporate her love for deep burgundy, navy and blush but also have a romantic non harsh feel. I think we accomplished just that. With the loss of Lindsays brother and Ezekiel’s guests traveling from the Philippines, there was no lack of emotions anywhere.

Boasting a romantic, organic style, these pink and navy wedding ideas are everything! The most exquisite details were captured beautifully by Cassidy Alane Photography, and the lush, organic florals by Floral V Designs were absolutely breathtaking. And that floral arch- my goodness, it’s a must see! We love that this entire design planned by The Crystal Collection  incorporates blush pink, yet it’s done in slightly different way, utilizing bold shades of pink and a rick navy. It’s all absolutely stunning, and we can’t wait for you to see!

From Cassidy Alane Photography:

This styled shoot was inspired with the colors blush and navy with a luxurious and elegant feel. I wanted to incorporate an engagement couple that would have their outfits reflect our wedding colors as well. I loved the look of this clean white manor and felt that it enlightened the feel of a higher end wedding. We were obsessed with the floral archway and the dusty pink loveseat for our bride and groom and the dusty blue vintage lounge set up along with the pink lemonade display would be perfect for wedding guests. The flowing garland that pulled in the tablescape perfectly. Also, we were blown away by the modern custom and unique ring designs from Honey Designs for each of our models!

Chances are pretty good that if you are engaged and starting to plan your wedding, the thought of a wedding planner has probably crossed your mind. If you’re like most couples, you probably immediately disregarded the thought, because you think it will be too expensive, or because you feel like this:

“We don’t want to hire a wedding planner because we want to plan the wedding ourselves.”

I’ve actually heard this statement made many times, and it has made me realize that there is a huge misconception about wedding planners and what they do. Well friends, if you know anything about us at Every Last Detail, you know that we really don’t like misconceptions, so the truth is…

A wedding planner does not plan your wedding- YOU DO!

A Wedding Planner Does Not Plan Your Wedding... You Do! via TheELD.com

I want to tell you today that having a wedding planner isn’t about having someone make all the decisions for you.

Having a wedding planner is about having someone who knows what they’re doing, who can help you, and who will plan your wedding ALONGSIDE you.

Because chances are pretty good that you’ve never planned a wedding before and you don’t quite know what to do. Weddings are a fun, exciting world, but they’re also tricky and a huge unknown. It’s okay to seek knowledge and help when entering upon this unknown world. Really, it is- it’s what you would do in any other new situation, right?! :)

So with that said, I wanted to elaborate a bit more about why a wedding planner doesn’t necessarily plan your wedding for you. I think many people still have that vision of the wedding planner seen in movies or on TV, handling every single detail of a wedding and taking over the whole entire wedding.

I’m going to ask you to throw that vision away- forget you ever saw it.

Gone are the days of wedding planners only being hired by brides with million dollar budgets, and gone are the days of the wedding planner who takes everything over. [Note: Yes there are some wedding planners that will plan the whole entire wedding but that is usually the bride’s preference, and comes a very high price tag.]

A wedding planner’s job is to help you plan your wedding.

You don’t have to be concerned about whether or not you’ll actually be able to plan your own wedding, because you will still be making all of the decisions and be a very active participant in planning your wedding. The only difference is that you will just have help doing it! For example- a planner may provide you with recommendations for vendors, but the decision is yours. You will still research the vendors, meet with the vendors, and hire the vendors, but it’s the guidance from your wedding planner that makes the difference.

There is of course way more a planner will do for you beyond recommending vendors, and to avoid going into a the big long list of what a wedding planner does, I highly recommend that you read this post. (I would have just listed everything for you, but there are just way too many things!)

Something important to remember about wedding planners is that they are all different. They will have different packages, different styles, and different personalities. This is an AWESOME thing though, because that means that there is absolutely going to be a planner who will be perfect for you, your fiancé, and your wedding! Choosing the right wedding planner to help you in your wedding planning process will be best decision you will ever make while planning. I promise!

So the bottom line is this…

[Tweet “Guess what… you are definitely still planning your own wedding if you have a wedding planner!”]

When you have a wedding planner, you will be planning your wedding with knowledge, guidance, connections, and experience on your side! I don’t know about you, but that sounds a whole lot better than planning a wedding and being absolutely clueless and stressed out- don’t you agree?

I’d love to hear from you all about this- have you decided for or against a wedding planner? What are your reasons?

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Choosing vendors that understood our vibe and could make it come to life through their work.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Nudes and blushes. I love florals and wanted it to show. I’d say classy but also slightly bohemian.

A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com A Romantic Blush Cincinnati Wedding via TheELD.com

What is your best piece of advice for other couples?

Make sure to take a moment alone together to soak it all in after the ceremony. Also, let guests come to you- they will find you on the dance floor! Otherwise, you could be greeting people all night instead of enjoying the day you worked so hard at planning.

From Sarah of Gracious Company:

April and Jackson’s estate wedding was full of lush florals, so many gorgeous details and colors… and lots of rain. The morning started out sunny and bright, but as soon as it was time for photos, the rain clouds rolled in and stayed until the reception. Rain is probably every bride’s worst nightmare, but April & Jackson handled it with such grace and determination. They still wanted outdoor photos and an outdoor ceremony, so everyone got out their umbrellas and towels to wipe down the chairs and it was beautiful. I didn’t hear one negative word from anyone about the rain. For brides afraid of a rainy wedding day, I would say, have a back up plan, but if you?re set on going outdoors rain or shine, embrace it and have a solid team of vendors to back you up! The rain cleared and everyone hopped into the reception tent ready to party. There wasn’t a dry eye during the toasts or the Father/Daughter dance (“Dance with my Daughter” by Jason Blaine turned into “Dance Like Yo Daddy” by Meghan Trainor.) The night ended with a enthusiastic sparkler exit which could not have been more fitting for April & Jackson!
