Whenever I hear “Italian” anything, my ears perk up, but when it’s an Italian inspired wedding design, I’m immediately sold. That was exactly the case with this stunning V List inspiration shoot designed by Just Save The Date Events. Taking place at Haus820, and drawing inspiration from Italy’s coast, a palette of blue, yellow, and orange with hints of green and white was the perfect choice for this design. An invitation suite by Blush Paper Co. featuring floral and citrus elements set the stage for this chic Italian look. Florals created by The Flower Studio in the bold color palette, tabletop pieces from Treasury Rentals, and an exquisite bride in lace beautified by Michele Renee The Studio completed the look beautifully. And with Flora Bloom Photography there to capture it all, the result was absolutely breathtaking! I can’t wait for you to see all of this beauty! And now you’ll have to excuse me while I go research tickets to Italy, k?!

From Kelly of Just Save The Date:

We love all things Italian… from the people to the food, to the beautiful scenery, we just can’t get enough! For this styled shoot, we decided to incorporate three of our favorite themes: gorgeous Italian Coastal inspiration mixed with clean color palette and pop of citrus.

We chose the soft, but vibrant color palette after being inspired by photos of a group of friend’s recent vacation to coastal Italy. The colors were a natural fit-soft blues, crisp white, vibrant citrus colors of yellow, green, orange and coral all mixed with gold accents and Italian-inspired tiled pottery. We used different textures throughout the shoot including 2 different patterned napkins, light and airy chiffon runners and structured ivory lace on the bride’s dress and veil.

To keep a semi-rustic, yet coastal feel, we opted for wooden-x-back chairs and a custom, wooden farmhouse table for the dinner table. The tables were accented with gold rimmed chargers, blue plates, blue-handled gold flatware and vintage mismatched blue and clear glassware. This complemented the gold candlesticks in the centerpiece garland that consisted of greenery, citrus fruit and blue & white Italian-inspired pottery pieces with bright blooms. Custom stationary in hues of blue, white, orange green and yellow accented the tables in the form of menus, as well as the invitation suite, while we used custom-printed citrus fruits as the placecards and a wood and acrylic table number.

Our favorite piece of the shoot was the vintage beverage cart. We used the ice cream cart from RW Rentals and added an slate blue umbrella. We placed the cart in front of a boxwood wall complete with signage painted to match our color palette and added a true pop of color with balloon garland to add just the right touch of whimsy and fun. Add in a custom acrylic signature drink sign, lots of Italian sodas and mixers, a slew of citrus fruit and flowers and of course, Italian liqueurs and aperitifs and you have a beverage cart plucked straight from the beaches of Capri or Positano!

To complete the Italian inspired wedding look and not to be forgotten, we kept things very simple and understated with a simple, but gorgeous cake display with not one, but two cakes accented with theme florals and greenery and of course, lemons.

Editor’s Note: Here at ELD, we are ALL ABOUT sharing candid information about weddings- especially regarding the cost of weddings. So when Becca and Jessie of Modern Vintage Events shared their fun and informational video series, “Planning & Prosecco” with me, I *knew* it had to be something I shared with you all! So friends, let’s give these two wedding planners (oh, and V List Members!) a warm welcome as they share their expert insight weekly here on ELD! Take it away ladies!

Let’s be honest. When you are planning your wedding, Pinterest can be a blessing and a curse. It can be a source of beautiful inspiration for your wedding day and I’m sure we’ve all gone down that three hour Pinterest rabbit hole more than a couple of times.

The problem is that Pinterest can also sometimes misrepresent what is actually attainable for an average or even above average wedding day. What appears to be a simple design can sometimes encompass the most expensive elements or labor intensive florals. This is especially true of the clean, modern look that is super in right now.

So, how much does it actually cost to achieve that “perfect Pinterest” look? Let’s take this table for instance…

Pinterest vs Reality: The Real Cost of Weddings via TheELD.com

Courtney Davidson Photography

The black linen napkin underneath the plate is $2.50. That’s for one napkin, mind you. The black chairs (pictured below) are $10.00 each. The china, black flatware and glassware on this table is $7.20 per place setting. That covers the plates, forks, knives and glasses. The upgraded, textured linen on the table is $27.00. (A basic poly linen would run about $14.00 to $18.00.) The centerpiece is $120.00.

All together that comes to $304.60 per table.

So say you wanted to do this look on 15 tables of 8 (that’s a wedding of 120 guests), you’d be looking at a grand total of $4,659.00 just for your tables. That doesn’t include the extra glassware at the bar to accommodate guests all night, cake plates and forks etc. It adds up! So here’s a couple of things to consider when lusting over those gorgeous weddings on Pinterest:

Blow Out the Head Table

If your budget allows for all things beautiful in all the places, go for it girl! If not, one way to make a big impact on the design with a smaller impact to your wallet is to go big on the head table. You can add all those upgraded elements to the table where you and the wedding party will be seated and then keep the rest of the guest tables tastefully minimal. The head table will also be the most photographed.

Was It a Real Wedding?

The thing about Pinterest is, a lot of the photos you see are from photo shoots. Event vendors LOVE to do photo shoots to play around with new design ideas and to show people what can be done. But it’s important to remember that just about anything is attainable when it’s done on a small scale (i.e. just one table) vs having to do it for over 100 people.

Share Your Budget with Your Vendors!

Don’t be afraid to share your budget with your vendors. Oftentimes, people feel that if they hold that number close they might not spend every penny. In actuality, if you don’t share your budget goals with your vendors then the sky is the limit. If they don’t know what they are working with, they’re going to suggest the biggest and the best because they want to give you the vision you are describing. When given parameters, your vendors can give you ideas on how to take your wish list and scale it to fit your budget. Trust them, they do this for a living!

You do you. Not someone else.

Remember, if you are seeing it on Pinterest, it has already been done! Use Pinterest as a jumping off point, a way to explore color palettes, refine your style and a space to save ideas. Make sure to make your wedding design your own — it should reflect your personalities and be unique. Lean on your planner, your florist and other vendors to help you personalize things so that your vision is truly one of a kind. And remember, at the end of the day, it’s about the marriage and the celebration — the rest is just details.

Happy Planning!

Finances and budgets tend to add stress to many of our lives regardless if we’re planning a wedding or not. But when you add money, a wedding budget, and emotion into the mix of planning your wedding day, it can become overwhelming in an instant. There are a few questions that always come to mind when we start talking about budgets:

Who is paying for what? Are we paying for the wedding ourselves, or will we have family contributing?

How much do we plan to spend?

How do we know what to spend money on, and what to save on?

While we can’t answer the “who will be paying for things” OR the “how much should we spend,” for you, we can give you some tips on how to maximize your wedding budget, along with some suggestions to help you figure out how to prioritize. We turned to some of our talented pros from The V List to share their insight for making the most of your budget!

How to Get the Most Out of Your Wedding Budget via TheELD.com

1. Prioritize Your Budget

The biggest piece of advice I can offer is one that helped me with budgeting my own wedding! Make a list of vendors and details you need for your wedding day (venue, photographer, place cards, etc). Once you have that list, make another list putting them in order of highest importance to lowest importance. The vendors or details in your top five are the most important. If they are in your top five, you see them as a priority and that they are worth their price point. Splurge on your top five and then budget the rest of the list. It is very easy to source the little details and keep an eye on sales/coupons/specials! The earlier you get started, the better! — Katerina, Katerina Marie Photography. Art. Designs. LLC

2. Hire a Planner Early in the Process

Hire a planner early in the process! It may seem counterintuitive to spend that money at the very beginning, but a good planner will help you determine your priorities, maximize your budget in all areas, and very often pay for themselves…and then some!— Christina, Refined Bridal Boutique

3. Package Your Photography Collection

Including an engagement session in your photography collection often yields financial savings as opposed to booking things a la carte. The same goes for wedding albums! If you don’t see something in a collection you hoped to, ask. Photographers are often willing to create customized packages and take a percentage off the total as an incentive for couples!Mikkel, Mikkel Paige Photography

4. Combine and Conquer

One of the very best ways that couples can maximize their budget is to COMBINE and conquer! The more items and services a couple combines under one vendor, the more bang they’ll get out of every buck because they’ll avoid unnecessary additional delivery fees, set up fees or large cost variations. — Sasha, Oh So Classy Events

5. Consider a Signature Drink

Opt for a classic or colorful signature drink instead of providing an open bar. — Julie, Events by Jules
