Mustard gold, plum, amber, olive, and brown tones with a variety of contrasting textures gave this tabletop a fun 70s feel for today’s 12 Days of Christmas Tabletops theme. Feather accents made their appearance as we make our way through several bird-themed styles over the coming days, but we love the funky feel of 4 Calling Birds came to life.

With the creativity of Ashton Events and Treasury Rentals, we’re in for another cleverly crafted design beautifully captured by Jenna Nicole Photography. Make sure you catch all of the details behind today’s design.

Emily from Treasury Rentals:

“As we were winding down to the final tabletop styles, we found ourselves trying to design several ‘bird-themed’ looks, and we wanted to make sure we created something special and unique for each of these designs. For our Calling Birds style, we focused around the idea of feathered accents. With using feathers, we immediately felt like this lent towards a more rustic style, but we love how Laura took a beautiful twist with the tones and textures to create something especially unique. We found inspiration in focusing on colors and textures when pulling pieces from our collection. We loved how the layered place settings with clear dinner plates allowed us to showcase the beautiful grains of the Acacia Wood Chargers with a peek of feathers sandwiched between the layers. Adding vinyl guest names to the rims of the dishware added a personalized detail that marked each guests seat. Tying a trio of copper flatware with olive green velvet ribbon was a simple detail that added a pop to the place setting.”

Laura from Ashton Events:

“Knowing that we were going to be utilizing feather accents in this style, we wanted to pull our color palette from the natural tones found in the feathers. Though doing a monochromatic brown tablescape felt a little drab, we made tweaks to the hues to bring in a range from mustard yellows, copper, olive green, and plum giving a rich fall-like pairing. We fell in love with Nuage Designs, Inc.‘s Gold Gemma linen–a thick velvet texture with metallic threads woven throughout–this style really helped drive the rest of the design. Creating an asymmetrical tablescape with gold bottle brush Christmas trees on one side and a cluster of mod vases filled with greenery and feathers balancing the opposite end of the table, our style took on a 70s style minimalist vibe that added a unique flair to our series. Creative, fun, and unexpected, we love how the Calling Birds design came to life.”

We love the contrast that we’ve seen as we continue our way through the series, and this style did not disappoint. Warm tones, fun textures, and a willingness to stretch their creativity, this eye-catching style continues to pull us in through every layer of detail that they presented.

Make sure you catch all of the other looks in this series as we celebrate the countdown to Christmas Day!

Nicole and Tyler chose historic Saint Augustine as the setting for their elegant wedding weekend. It was one of their favorite places to visit and where the couple had one of their very first vacations together. When Tyler proposed, he gave Nicole a beautiful emerald engagement ring, which inspired the color palette for their wedding day- but we also love how it created a subtle nod to the merriment of the holiday season.

With the guidance and talents of their planner, Dairing Events, this couple was able to create a beautiful experience for their family and friends who came to celebrate with them. From setting the tone with elegant stationery designed by Heather O’Brien Designs, to the romantic candlelit details throughout their reception, every element was the perfect fit to make their wedding day come together.

We love the beautiful emerald green and warm golds that Nicole and Typer chose for their color palette. Pulling inspiration from Nicole’s stunning emerald engagement ring, we love how they took this one element and carried it through the entirety of their wedding day design. There are so many beautiful details captured by Jenn Hopkins Photography, as well as some extra insight into this couple’s winter wedding that you definitely don’t want to miss!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

For the wedding, we wanted to have a classic feel, while tying in the elements of St. Augustine with the Spanish inspired architecture-since we got engaged in Spain! We incorporated cream and gold to help pull this look off. Also, I wanted to incorporate emerald green to the decor, as my engagement ring stone is not a diamond but an emerald. The touch of emerald green in smaller details, also played well with the Holiday Season.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

There are too many to count, but if I had to pick one of the top moments, it was walking around St. Augustine with Tyler after the ceremony and taking our pictures, with Jenn Hopkins. It was a time for Tyler and I to enjoy our surroundings while having fun!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important aspect of our wedding planning was making sure the guests had fun! We splurged on the DJ and open bar, and it paid off because our families and friends were dancing the whole night!

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

Tradition is important to Tyler and I, so we tried to incorporate family traditions on every aspect of the day. We had a cigar roller during cocktail hour, cigars are a big part of Cuban family celebrations. Tyler’s maternal grandmother and aunt made traditional Christmas cookies, called Pizzelles, which served as a favor and an additional treat to our coffee station.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

During the wedding ceremony, we included Spanish tradition, called the veil ceremony. The veil (or mantilla, as its traditionally called) is placed over the bride and groom to symbolize their new unity and bond. It was special to both of us as both our Godmothers placed the mantilla over us before communion. For our wedding exit, to give nod to Tyler’s Scottish-Irish roots, we had a bagpiper walk us out for the recessional. Having these small details symbolized the blending of two families and different cultures.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

If it were not for our wedding planner, Adair, our vision would not have been as magical or our wedding as fun! She was with us from the beginning, helping me choose vendors, all the way to keeping our guest list organized. We were living in Houston, Texas when we began the wedding planning process, and I was also not from the North Florida area so having an expert really helped me get the vendors who would help bring our vision to life. Having Adair behind the scenes and knowing that everything was being handled helped us enjoy ourselves – we were truly able to enjoy the ceremony and reception fully!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

There is so much to do and decide on when planning a wedding, the key is to remember what is the reason why you are there in the first place and to try and bring the aspects of what makes your union special to light, while celebrating with the most special people in your lives.

We love that this couple didn’t shy away from incorporating a few details that played towards the holiday season. Ornament favors that commemorated the historic location of the wedding celebration wrapped in a box with a green bow was the perfect gift to greet each guest as they took their seats around their tables.

What are you planning to do for favors as a gift to your wedding guests?

An intimate ceremony at Fort Benning followed by a stunning reception with friends and family at Rivermill Event Centre created an incredibly special Georgia wedding day for Andrea and Tim.

Andrea and Tim created a day full of intentional moments and special details that allowed for a truly personal celebration. Andrea chose to get ready at her parents’ house, and what a beautiful and sentimental setting for these two to begin their day. From the intimate moments before becoming husband and wife to the final goodbyes at the end of the night, Eliza Morrill Photography captured all of the beauty and detail from this special wedding day. You are sure to love the gorgeous design of their reception, and we were truly taken by the floral chandelier that floated over the dance floor. Make sure to catch the details of their day shared by the beautiful bride as she provided her insight into much of the heart behind this celebration.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

As most people say, we really just wanted our wedding to be FUN! A place where our friends and family could come enjoy amazing food and delicious cocktails in a beautiful venue while dancing the night away. We love the classics, so we brought in a big band and played lots of Frank Sinatra! We also wanted to pay homage to Tim’s time in the Army as well as my love for my home town of Columbus, so being married in the Infantry Chapel and having the reception at a renovated mill seemed like the perfect solution!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important thing was making our guests feel welcome. Tim’s family is mostly from New York, and so many of his friends live around the country that we wanted to make Columbus feel like more than just a place to come for our wedding. We included out of town boxes in each hotel room that told people about what they could do around town, places to eat, and all about Columbus.

A videographer was not in my original plans because I thought that would be a place where cutting costs would be easy. However, I am SO GLAD that I didn’t do this! Both my photographer, Eliza Morrill, and Videographer, Lance Holloway, were incredible. They (along with their teams) made us so comfortable and relaxed. Not to mention, the quality of the product they provided is beyond measure, and something we will truly cherish for years to come!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM! I loved being able to get ready in my parents home surrounded by friends and family. Our first look was by the lake behind my parents house and was truly the most romantic moment of my life. I have never felt luckier! I also loved walking through the saber arch into our reception. It was the perfect welcome!

On a practical note, Jamie Keating with Rivermill Event Centre planned a meal for us to have before entering our reception that was a LIFE SAVER! It was in a private room and included a little bit of each item that was being served at our reception. This gave me a chance not only to eat and see what our guests were going to enjoy, but also to spend some alone time with my husband and savor the first moments of being newlyweds together. Not to mention… touch up hair and makeup! The late night mini pizza’s served in monogramed boxes were also a HUGE hit!

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

We have lots of traditions in our family, so YES! I wore my grandmother’s sapphire ring and bracelet as my “Something Blue” and “Something Borrowed.” These were also worn by my sister and cousin on their wedding days. My father also purchased a bottle of port on the day I was born. He saved it for my wedding day, so the first toast at our receptions was made with that bottle and shared between he, my mom, me, my husband, and my husband’s parents.

What did you do for favors?

In lieu of favors, Tim and I made a donation to the National Infantry Museum in Columbus, Georgia. It is a stunning facility, and one that we always visit when back in Columbus. We presented this to our guests as little American flags with personal messages announcing our donation in their honor.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom honestly helped the most, which makes sense since she grew up in the floral business in New Orleans. She understood my vision. She has an eye for style, so she made it really easy for me! We also have the BEST friends who brought fun and comfort to the whole process: Jamie Keating and Beth Milner of Rivermill, Patty Hasting of P.Hasting Design, Pam Shuler of Shuler Studio, Adrianne Wallace for her crafting expertise and all our family and friends that we hold so dear. Knowing you are surrounded by so much love and desire to help makes for very smooth sailing.

What a truly incredible wedding day. So many special details and moments that send our romantic hearts into a flutter. From getting ready and pictures at the bride’s parents’ house to the special heirlooms that have been passed down through the family, to what choked us up the most, the bottle of port that the bride, groom, and their families shared for a toast, there are just so many moments that made this day so perfect.

Are there any special moments or details that you’re planning for your wedding day?

We are in our final week of our 12 Days of Christmas Tabletops series as we approach Christmas Day, and today we have made it to 5 Golden Rings! A mix of elegance and boho style, this holiday table mixes wood and macrame details with brassy gold details to create a warm and welcoming tabletop style.

We love the combo of lantern, floral, and macrame centerpiece elements that offer several layers of interest to the tablescape, and we love how that is mimicked with the layering of each setting. Enjoy the details that Jenna Nicole Photography captured, and make sure you read more about the design choices that Ashton Events and Treasury Rentals made when creating this look.

12 Days of Christmas Tabletops: 5 Golden Rings via TheELD.com

Laura from Ashton Events:

We loved taking a twist on the 5 Golden Rings theme by incorporating gold napkin rings into this look. Napkin rings are a great way to create layers and unique details into your tabletop design. We incorporated a macrame design from our friend, Jordan, at The Woven Wild, which allowed us to introduce a boho vibe to this design and created contrast from our other Christmas table styles. We added a pop of red and white florals in a low arrangement as a way to bring color into the design, while adding in lanterns provided height and balance to the table.

Emily from Treasury Rentals:

We wanted to keep the place settings relatively simple, while still making them feel special. By using our gold metal charger plates paired with our Ella dinnerware, we were able to add a touch of elegance to this boho Christmas style without making it feel too formal. We loved how the napkins were tucked into the golden rings, and adorned with wooden Christmas tree ornaments as a little gift to the guests joining the table. It again made for a created a perfect balance of casual elegance in the design.
