As you all know, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. And, as you also know, today is Friday. Turns out, I have the perfect wedding to share with you from Elizabeth Scott Photography to kick us off into the weekend and the Valentine’s celebrating. This wedding exudes romance–from the elegant ballroom, to the combination of deep purples and blush pinks, to the gorgeous bride, Danielle, and her stunning gown. There’s some playfulness infused into it all as well–check out the bride’s sparkly Toms shoes!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

During the planning process, the people that helped my husband and I the most were my sister (maid of honor) and both of our mothers.  They were great sounding boards for ideas and suggestions.  They were always willing to help us in anyway they could and many of our projects would not have been done so beautifully without them.  On our wedding day, our day-of coordinator (Dorianne) at the country club was the most helpful.  Her calm demeanor kept my husband and I relaxed throughout the entire day; without her, the day and our experience would not have gone so smoothly.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Initially the most important thing when deciding who to work with was their timely responses.  Many vendors I would email or call and not hear back for several days and I knew I wouldn’t be able to work with them.  In addition to promptness, the most important thing to me when deciding on who to work with for the wedding was their ability to see my vision for the day and to help develop those ideas.  I am not good at making decisions and I had several different visions for the day so I needed someone who could help me narrow down ideas and make those ideas come alive.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

Yes!  After we contracted our photographers, they sent us a beautiful picture frame as a thank you.  The country club where the ceremony and reception were located provided us with an elaborate food and beverage tasting – above and beyond what most places would include in helping us make our decision.  Our florist provided me with the tossing bouquet for free.  Lastly, my hair stylist brought me the ingredients to one of my favorite drinks on the wedding day!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding was the ceremony and ceremony space.  I always wanted the ceremony to be outside and I can’t imagine a more perfect space.  I began my walk down the aisle with my dad down a long beautiful flight of stairs which overlooked the golf course.  At the end of the aisle was a beautiful tree that became the focal point of the whole space.  Hanging on the aisle chairs were eggplant pomanders which were later turned into centerpieces for the reception.  The pomanders were my favorite decoration piece from the florist.  Between the weather, fall colors, and all of our friends and family being with us, it could not have been more perfect.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice for other brides is to take a deep breath and enjoy the process.  Towards the end of the wedding planning I was ready for it be over, but I miss all things wedding already!  Lastly, make sure to stay true to the vision you and your husband-to-be see for your day.  It can be easy to get carried away with everyone’s opinions and with all the pretty wedding things out there, but the most important thing is that you have the day that you and your groom always dreamed of.  Enjoy it!

A big thank you to Elizabeth Scott Photography for sharing this picture perfect wedding with us and to Danielle for letting us in on her Big Day!

Was the wedding successful? Are you in the Valentine’s mood now? All starry eyed and dreamy? I hope so. :)

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

While I had several people to thank for helping me through the process, my mother and my planner were a tremendous help. I’m very detailed oriented, so I was really wrapped on the small details that makes every wedding unique. It was nice to have someone else to correspond with the vendors (linens, florist, venue director). It’s difficult to do it all while maintaining your every day life. I recommend a planner for EVERY bride! A huge weight was lifted with some of the negotiating, details and she helped to create a solid vision. My mother was with me every step of the way, and it didn’t hurt that we have like taste. She helped me through the entire process. Surprisingly, my husband was pretty hands on as well. :)

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Well, to be frank, I was looking for a planner who didn’t annoy the heck out of me! In other words I was looking for a personality type I would’nt clash with and who would not forget that our wedding day was ours. Eliana at Elly B Events certainly fit that mold. She was really cool and the wedding turned out to be phenomenal success.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved it so much, it’s difficult to narrow down just one. I would say that I loved that my venue was in a public place that my husband and I can visit anytime we like. We even had tourists taking photos and watching the wedding! Everything was decorated beautifully with all the vibrant colors I asked for. The reception was an absolute blast, and people are still telling us that ours was the best wedding they had ever been too. I’m sure the full open bar with two yummy signatures didn’t hurt. :)

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Breathe. The day is super important, but the wedding will never go off perfectly. Stuff happens, and yes- even on your wedding day. For me, everything was perfectly timed and the wedding was on course to start on time. I was there. The groom was there. But the marriage license was left in the hotel room across the park, and the officiant wouldn’t start without it. A park director sprinted across the park to dig through a hotel room. This whole fiasco put us back by 15 minutes- which of course affects your cocktail hour. Like I said stuff happens, just breathe and enjoy your day. You will never live it again.

Wow, everything that Kia said I totally agree with. I love hearing a bride say that everyone needs to hire a planner- why would you want to handle the workload of an additional full time job?! ;) Thank you for sharing your wedding story with us Kia, and thank you to ellyB Events for doing such a fabulous job!

How do you all like this super colorful wedding? This proves that you don’t have to just two or three main colors for things to look beautiful! But tell me- out of all of the colors, which one do you like best? :)

I’m a sucker for bold color. I love a vintage hue, but there is just something about bold colors and weddings that make my heart swoon. With neon being hot this year, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we see a few weddings with punchy yellows, electric blues, and firey pinks. While this love of neon may give away that yes, I am in fact a child of the 80s, it doesn’t change the fact that a bold hue can still ad a modern touch and level of sophistication to any party.

I have an awesome cinematographer (which to me is the “correct” term for a videographer) to introduce you all to today… Imprint Cinema! Based in Florida (and available for travel to Georgia and California), this husband and wife wedding film studio creates some amazing films- plus they’re super nice! Let’s start off with one of their wedding trailers first, and then you can get to know them more with their interview!

Sara & Jon – Wedding Trailer from Imprint Cinema on Vimeo.

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

We are all of those, and none of those. We see ourselves as creating a look that brings out the personality and style of each bride. We have created soft vintage films as well as funky and modern films. We meet with each couple and customize their film to their relationship, love story, personality, and their wedding day.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

Samm: I love details of weddings. They are one of my favorite parts- from a pair of shoes, piece of jewelry, or a dress, you can really get a feeling for who a bride is and her sense of style. My favorite one though? Hard choice but I have to go with a pair of handcrafted matching gold wedding bands. They were so ornate yet matching. So different from anything I had ever seen.

Alex: I love the dress-specifically shooting the dress. Each one says something so different and I love finding the perfect place to make the dress shine.

What is your favorite store or brand?

Samm: Anthropologie is my personal Disney World (My happiest place on earth) I could spend forever there. And Ikea!

Alex: Umm… B&H- Its camera equipment and yes, I am a giant tech-nerd

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

Samm: Be excited! Then take a deep breath and start following some awesome blogs- they will help SO much!

Alex: Make sure you know what the most important things are for your wedding – and then make sure your budget allows room for those.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

Samm: I love that filming a wedding is someone’s real story, no actors, no pretending. I love getting to capture a couple’s once in a lifetime moments.

Alex: Cake! Just Kidding. I love the buildup of anticipation all day then getting to see the looks on their faces when a bride and groom see each other for the first time.

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

We’re awesome!? No seriously, we’re extremely passionate about what we do and we only do weddings. This is not a side gig, or part time job. We’ve dedicated ourselves to making films for brides and grooms and it fulfils us everyday.

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

We are a full service Wedding Film Studio. We want to help our couple’s with their big day in any way we possibly can. We provide venue walk troughs, customized meetings, and a 24 hr guarantee on all calls, texts, and emails. We make ourselves available to our couples at all times and for whatever they need: vendor referrals, time line planning, or just to vent, we are here!

Vendor of the Week: Imprint Cinema via TheELD.com

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but having a cinematographer at your wedding is something that you WILL NOT regret. Just about everyone who doesn’t do it tells me they wish they had. No. Lie. So definitely be sure to go over to Imprint Cinema’s listing in ELV to check out more of their work! And when you contact them, tell them that I sent you! ;)
