I must say- I am totally and completely IN LOVE with this pink and navy wedding from Jordan Weiland Photography that I have for you all today! From a ceremony with vintage church pews and yards of ribbon hanging from a big oak tree, to a completely outdoor reception adorned by gorgeous florals, market lighting, and chandeliers, every aspect of this wedding is utterly amazing. Needless to say, with a southern, vintage style, a fun color palette, and some absolutely fabulous decor, I’m pretty sure you’ll be falling in love with this wedding too…

From the bride, Marianne:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My wedding planner, Melissa Gutentag of 2 Sisters Events, was the biggest help with planning for my wedding day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted someone who knew me. Someone that I could give my little idea to and make it into a whole wonderful wedding. I have been friends with Melissa for several years and I knew she knew me pretty well.Ā

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My inspiration started with Pinterest. As we were dress shopping I found the bridesmaid dresses and loved them, and then the wedding took form around them.Ā

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

There isn’t just one favorite thing about my wedding. My wedding was more of an ambiance. It’s hard to explain in words. One of my favorite things is the way people reacted to the wedding. People still talk about it 2 months after. They aren’t talking me or my husband, they are talking about the event.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My advice is to getting a wedding planner. I know you feel like that’s more money you could spend on things for your wedding, but a wedding planner is the BEST investment. Everyone gets to keep their sanity and you don’t lose your friends and family.Ā

I love love love Marianne’s advice! I couldn’t have said it better myself! :) I’m still obsessing over the beautiful design of this whole wedding though. The colors, the tables, the CAKE! Marianne was right- her wedding definitely had an “ambiance” to it- and I love it!

So are any of you planning a wedding with a southern, vintage style like this one? What kind of details will you be having?

Editor’s note: Happy Tuesday everyone! I have a Pro Insight post for you all today that is absolutely FULL of excellent information from ELV floral designer Rachel of Life In Bloom. She’s here giving us tips on what you should know before meeting with your floral designer- something that I had no clue about when I was planning my wedding!Ā

Pro Insight: 5 Things To Know Before Meeting With Your Floral Designer via TheELD.com

By Rachel Wyffels of Life In Bloom

You’re engaged!Ā Once you set a date and reserve your venue, it’s time for the fun part- meeting and selecting your vendors!Ā  I recommend you start looking for a floral designer six months to a year before your wedding.Ā  Every wedding is different though, so set up your initial consultation at any time or when you feel ready.

I have compiled a list of 5 things to think about before meeting with your floral designer.Ā  This will help you, your fiancĆ©, and the florist make the most of your time together.Ā  It’s okay to be unsure about specifics, but at least think about these topics beforehand and get a general idea.

1) The Budget Ā

Know your floral budget.Ā  Your florist will need to get a rough idea of how much you expect to spend on flowers.Ā  There are so many options with flowers, styles, vases, etc.Ā  In order to put together a proposal based on your needs, you will need to give your florist a rough budget.Ā  It can be frustrating to have a great consultation full of beautiful ideas only to receive a proposal later that is completely out of your budget.Ā  I always recommend starting with some type of number, even if it is just an estimate and can be changed later.Ā  It you have absolutely no idea where to begin, 10% of your overall budget is the average amount that most people spend on flowers.Ā  This varies from couple to couple, but if you have no idea where to begin, this can be a good starting point.

2) Ceremony & Reception Venue Ā

You should have your ceremony and reception venue determined by now.Ā  Do either of these locations have special requirements or restrictions?Ā  Make sure you pass along any important information to your florist.Ā  Maybe your venue doesn’t allow candles?Ā  Or maybe you are getting married in a church and they don’t allow any flowers except for the bouquets.Ā  Make sure you pass this information along to your florist, so they can help guide you in making appropriate dĆ©cor decisions.

3) Color Palette & Bridesmaid Dresses Ā

You should definitely have your bridesmaid dress color(s) selected before meeting with your florist.Ā  We are more than willing to help suggest other colors and create a color scheme for your wedding, but we don’t want to pick it out for you.Ā  So at least come with one main color you want to incorporate into your event and if you have your bridesmaid’s dresses ordered, bring a swatch!

4) Guests & Bridal Party Ā

You should have a rough estimate of your final guest count at this time.Ā  Obviously this is not set in stone, but having a good idea of how many people you are going to invite can really help in getting a more accurate cost of the decor.Ā  This number directly correlates with how many centerpieces you will need for your reception.Ā  At this point in time you should have asked your nearest and dearest to be in your wedding party.Ā  Besides your bridesmaids and groomsmen, are there any other special people you would like to include or honor in your ceremony?Ā  Think corsages or nosegays for Mothers & Grandmothers, boutonnieres for Fathers, Grandfathers, & Ushers.Ā  Will you have any flower girls or ring bearers?Ā  How about readers or any other assistants?Ā  Come with a list of these special people so we can include them in your big day.

5) Flowers & Inspiration Ā

What kinds of flowers do you absolutely love and want to have included?  Are there any that you despise?  Bring as many pictures as you want of flower arrangements, décor, and bouquets you like and dislike.  We will shuffle through these in our meeting and this will help determine your style.  Keep in mind that many flowers are seasonal, and may not be available for your wedding date.  However, we can help suggest similar replacements to give you the same look.

I hope these tips will help you get the most out of your meeting with your wedding florist.Ā  Happy planning!

From the bride…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Ā I downloaded an app on my phone similar to The Knott and it gave me a list for what I should be working on that month and helped me budget. That was super helpful because sometimes I would forget a small detail or two. Our families were the most helpful to us in the planning process, we had lots of DIY projects and they were willing to help us with all of them.Ā

Our family friends are wedding planners/coordinators Mary Ann Gregg who offered to coordinate our ceremony was amazing and the day of went off without a hitch. Katie Camp who is a wedding planner also a family friend I gave all our decorations in a trailer with labels and she went to town setting up every last detail perfectly. Having a family on both sides that was willing and able to help was such a blessing and wouldn’t have been possible without them.Ā

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important things to us when we were deciding who to work with we’re probably price and flexibility, we wanted to do so much and on a budget and have all the beautiful little details. Cottonwood Golf Club had exactly that. It was close to home and they allowed us to be creative in our planning and loved our creative side. That was our biggest deciding factor we wanted to be able to do all the creative decorating. Georgia LeBon at cottonwood instantly loved all my ideas and was excited about my vision so it was clear to me this was the perfect place for our wedding. She totally customized our package to fit us and our needs.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The inspiration for our wedding design was “us” Rod and I are very creative artistic people. So as much of the wedding if not all of it we could make our own we did! I used Pinterest like a crazy woman. For example: Rod always hated at weddings that dancing was the only activity so we made our wedding how we would want to spend an evening celebrating! We had a bags game, cootie catchers at each table to help our guest visit each activity and gave them other things to do then just dancing. I’m a thrift store shopper so a lot of decorations we got second hand or borrowed from friends, looked through our parents garage, or we just made it ourselves.Ā

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding….it was totally us! I’m not sure if that makes sense but we love our family and our friends Seeing everyone come together to celebrate the union of Rod and myself was amazing. We didn’t just do something because tradition told us we had to. We took each piece of the wedding and made it something that was special to us. Something that we were going to cherish forever and look back on and be happy we took the time to do it ourselves!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice for other brides; someone told me in the beginning of my planning that at the end of the day your going to be married to your best friend and that’s what is most important not to get hung up on the napkins being perfect but in each decision I made I always kept that in the forefront of my mind, that at the end of all this planning and sometimes craziness I’m going to be married and that helped me focus on what I wanted everyone else to focus on, was our love for each other. Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite because God is the author and he is the creator of love!
