This Moroccan jewel toned wedding inspiration that I have for you all today is absolutely stunning! Savannah wedding planner Morgan Gallo Events designed this gorgeous inspiration with a particular couple in mind. A couple who wants to celebrate their union with an intimate wedding, but who want more style and details than what “just an elopement” can provide. Inspired by Moroccan style, Jessi of Morgan Gallo Events used deep jewel tones, gold accents, low seating and fabric draping similar to what you would see associated with the Moroccan culture. Memories N More Photography did a fabulous job capturing the gorgeousness that resulted…

Did you catch those fun favors? Bags of tea! And how gorgeous are the handmade paper flowers used in the details? I love how all of this has a laid back feel to it, but yet the details and style are still absolutely fabulous.

What do you think of this Moroccan inspiration? Will you be drawing your inspiration from a particular culture?

Hi friends! I’ve seen quite a few fun ways to ask your bridesmaids that question of “Will you be my bridesmaid” lately, and I’ve been loving them! So when Every Last Vendor photographer Kristi of Markit Photography mentioned she was making some of her own “Will you be my bridesmaid?” boxes, I absolutely knew I had to share it with you all!

Kristi describes how she created her boxes, as well as some of the meaningful reasons for why she included what she did:

More than just dresses and flowers, I see a bridesmaid as your confidant and support throughout your dating relationship with your new fiance, leading up to the wedding, day of, and most importantly, keeping you accountable and supported in your vows to each other during your marriage. When it came time to ask my friends, I knew I wanted to send them something to formally ask them to be my bridesmaids. I have received cards, and other things, and I loved knowing how much my friends valued me standing and supporting them as a bridesmaid. I feel the same way about mine- it’s a big task!

I thought about the items I wanted to include and how to package and send them. Being in the industry, I see all of the cute ideas and bridesmaids cards/gifts out there, but I wanted to be sure it spoke to our wedding, and also included things my bridesmaids could use the day of the wedding.

I loved the idea of Rifle Paper Co.’s “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards because of the softness and color usage- (I also bought a “will you be my flower girl” card, they’re just too dang cute!). The pearl studs are from Amazon and will be what the girls wear on the wedding day. The OPI nail color is called “Mimosas for the Mr. and Mrs.” which is adorable, and a nice nude color for us to use the day before during our mani/pedis. For the final piece, I ordered a pack of 6 unique vintage handkerchiefs from Etsy, which traveled all the way from London (where I lived for a year after college). This was my favorite piece. Each of the handkerchiefs spoke to each girl’s style and taste- one even had an “M” stitched on it, and I have  Melissa in the party! They brought everything together perfectly. Asking Your Bridesmaids With A Will You Be My Bridesmaid Box via TheELD.com Asking Your Bridesmaids With A Will You Be My Bridesmaid Box via TheELD.com

I purchased the boxes from Michaels, as well as the brushes and shredded stuffing. The paint was purchased at a local paint store here in Chicago and is the exact brushed gold tone we’ll be using at our wedding. The paint took at least two coats- I recommend three. I laid all of the boxes out and began painting. While one coat was drying, I wrote personal messages in the cards. Once it was time to stuff the boxes, I placed the shredded stuffing in the box to reduce the visual depth of the items when the box was opened, and made sure the card was the first thing seen when they opened the box.

I tied the gold box with a cream ribbon to keep everything locked in, and wrapped it in brown paper before addressing, taping and shipping. (I tried to use a cute washi tape to seal the brown paper but it was too weak to hold- so the shipping tape came out!)

All of the “Will you be my bridesmaid” boxes were received within a few days and were loved by all! Each girl called accepting and was so excited to receive the gift- some even began wearing the pearls early! All in all, I’m so blessed and thankful for these women and the way they’ve walked beside me before and during our relationship. These boxes were my way to show this, and I can’t wait for them to stand by me on my wedding day!

Kristi is getting married in a few weeks, and just from the love she put into these boxes, I’m pretty excited to see the rest of the wedding too! :)

Have you asked your bridesmaids yet? Did you do anything special, or are you planning on doing something special like this?

This gorgeous seaside wedding – set in Lahaina, Hawaii – is like something out of a dream. Captured perfectly by Tamiz Photography, you’ll fall in love with the stunning oceanfront view, ethereal lighting and organic details (the driftwood altar is to die for!)- not to mention the gorgeously soft color palette of champagne, white and cream. The beyond gorgeous bride, Kelli, is here to share her planning insight:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Our wedding location was on Maui where I was born and raised but currently I am living in Wisconsin so I was very lucky to have my most stylish mother who lives on Maui helping me with the planning process. She also had the guidance of a fabulous wedding planner, Melissa who owns her own wedding rental boutique, Opihi Love Vintage Rentals and Event Design on Maui. Having Melissa greatly decreased the stress often associated with planning big events and let us enjoy being in the moment in the days leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We wanted to work with vendors who had a passion for their craft. We were very inspired by our caterers whose enthusiasm for each local ingredient they utilized came across when discussing the menu. We also fell in love with the husband/wife photographers, Tamiz whose website displayed their amazing talent for capturing love and light in their photographs.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I envisioned an elegant beach wedding. I wanted the setting of the ocean to be the dramatic show stopper and all of the other details to complement the natural beauty and not compete. So we kept the flowers and linens shades of white, cream and neutrals and added mercury glass details and chandeliers to dress up the space and make it feel grand.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

It is so hard to choose one favorite thing but a moment I really cherish is being surrounded by all my closest family and friends on the dance floor under the stars.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice is to just have a wonderful time. Soak it up and don’t forget to take a moment alone with your groom even if just for a quick champagne toast to be in the moment together.

Living inland and planning an island wedding, Kelli and Evan relied heavily on her mother and their fabulous team of vendors.

If you’re planning a destination wedding, are you considering handing over the bulk of decisions to a local planner/designer or are you trekking to your wedding locale for an in-person planning session or two?

XOXO,

Carlee

Happy Sunday friends! I’m quite excited to introduce you all to my friends Brent and Anna of Live View Studios– some of the most amazing North Carolina wedding photographers I know! Brent and Anna are based just outside of Raleigh, but they love traveling to photograph couples who have awesome style, love details, and of course are totally and completely in love. Check out their fabulous work, and learn a little bit about them too…

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

An heirloom veil, a perfectly chipped tea cup, a stained, handwritten family recipe, mama’s pearls … these are just a few vintage treasures that make our hearts skip a beat. In fact, we’re slowly accumulating a houseful of old things, and thrifting is an activity we enjoy doing together. Naturally, our love of nostalgia has inspired our photography, which is also vintage in nature, subtly replicating the look and feel of film. We’ll even shoot on film occasionally.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

Every detail that our brides and grooms incorporate into their wedding that expresses them, their personality and their love story has won our hearts. We’ve worked with so many creative couples and it’s always exciting to us to capture those meaningful details.

What is your favorite store or brand?

A shopping spree at Ruche and Anthropologie would pretty much make our day! :)

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

We have so many favorite things. We adore the moments when the bride and groom see each other for the first time, either with a First Look or during the ceremony. There is so much excitement and emotion in those first glances. The Kiss, and when the bride and groom are announced as Mr. and Mrs., follow closely. We also love capturing the heartfelt touches and details from the wedding day, as well as portraits of the newly wedded couple, as they soak in the realization that yay, they’ve done it – they’re married!

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

Being already married and learning so much from our own wedding day helps us to give an experienced and personal service to our brides and grooms. For example, we always include a wedding album in every package we offer because we know that in the months that follow the wedding, it’s less likely for one to be put together (from our own experience). Getting to know our couples and hearing their vision for their wedding day is important to us. We love to give our couples’ little surprises and gifts along the way and will always go the extra mile to make sure they have the day of their dreams.

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

Communication is key, so in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, we’ll keep in touch with you, going over your wedding day timeline, discussing timing for portraits, and assisting in any way we can.

On your wedding day, our photography team will work together to document the details and quiet moments in our trademark creative style, will safeguard those memories throughout the day, and then will share highlights from your day with a same-day wedding slideshow at your reception.

We focus on telling your love story through the entire collection of images from your wedding. Capturing passionate and artistic portraits of you and your love is also one of our top priorities.
