As wedding bloggers and marketers for the wedding industry, we have the great fortune of meeting so many wonderful people in person. However, it’s just not possible for us to catch up with each and every bride who read our posts to hear how what they have learned on ELD has influenced their wedding days. But, today is special because today’s sweet bride, Annie, is an Every Last Detail reader who turned to ELD again and again while planning her wedding! We’re so honored to share her beautiful beach wedding captured by Aislinn Kate Photography with you today!

Annie grew up in Pensacola, Florida, and she knew she wanted to introduce her guests to her hometown during the weekend she married Kevin. Guests were welcomed to Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, which served as the perfect setting for the couple’s bright and fun color palette. The duo tied the knot under a swoon worthy arch alongside the ocean complete with a vintage chandelier, and the two of them couldn’t help but beam with excitement. Surfboards with handlettered seating assignments served as escort card signs, the cake featured turquoise waves and coral, and frozen drinks were the cocktails of choice. Annie has joined us today to share her wedding planning insights, and we can’t wait for you to hear from her!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I had a few people and websites that were absolutely crucial during my wedding planning process. Leading up to the wedding, I used ELD (no really, I did!), which was incredibly helpful in putting together my budget and convincing me that yes, I do absolutely need a wedding planner. Loved all of the wedding planning tips and advice, and I think I used all of them. Pinterest and Etsy were also lifesavers for ideas and inspiration, and they also helped me manage what I should DIY vs. what I should buy. I was very careful not to DIY myself or my family to death. And lastly, my month-of wedding planner, Sara Gilliane Events, and my mother, Cheryl Lively, for helping me pull it all together.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I actually had a few criteria that I kind of weighed equally in my mind, so my vendors were ones that checked all of those boxes. Almost all of my vendors were recommended by friends because they had used them at their weddings and had done amazing jobs. Almost all of them had nice websites or social media/Pinterest accounts where I could see their previous work. And lastly, budget! They were able to put ideas and packages together that kept me where I needed to be.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Our wedding inspiration really came from where we were. I was so excited to show off where I grew up because Pensacola Beach is kind of a hidden gem in Florida that not that many people know about. And oh, by the way, it’s stunning! Our ceremony was right on the beach by the water, so I wanted colors and accents that really showcased its natural beauty. We chose bright coral and turquoise to compliment the white sand and emerald water. For the reception, it was all about whimsy and fun- we were at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, after all. So we had decorated surfboards, sunglasses as favors and glowstick necklaces for everyone.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding was really how much fun I had! I was surrounded by all of the people I love, in the place I love, with all of the things that I love…..great music, great food, dancing, frozen drinks. It was truly just a magical day all around. And Aislinn and her team did an incredible job of capturing our day.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice is to hire a wedding planner, even if it’s only a month-of or day-of coordinator. I was able to truly sit back and enjoy the day knowing that they were handling everything, probably so many things that I didn’t even see! I didn’t have to have friends or relatives running around at the last minute trying to handle things because they took care of all of it. It really enabled me to focus on having fun with my husband, family and friends.

We love love LOVE Annie’s advice, and are just so thrilled to hear that what we share here on ELD was so helpful to her! And that coral and aqua color palette? So fun!

Taking place among the Canadian Rockies, Christina and Greg’s blush and champagne wedding is beautiful, sophisticated, and filled with family, love, and cheer. The duo planned the wedding of their dreams thanks to the help of their wedding planner, Callandra of Postcard Weddings, and Corrina Walker Photography captured the day perfectly. Christina was kind enough to share about her wedding planning experience with us, so read on for her advice and insights!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Without question our wedding planner Callandra Caufield gets 100% credit for managing, organizing and executing everything that had to do with our wedding plans and wedding day. Her attention to detail and organized approached suited Greg and I perfectly, we had regularly schedule meetings, specific homework and all the decisions were narrowed down in advance and presented to us in a timely and orderly fashion. Our lives are very busy and I wasn’t interesting in spending hours researching and having Callandra control the planning was instrumental to us never feeling overwhelmed and enjoying the process a lot! Her presence on our wedding day was a major confidence boost because Greg and I knew we could focus exclusively on each other and our guests.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Instantly when we met Callandra we could tell she was extremely knowledgeable and was prepared to lead us by making recommendations and short listing vendors for us based on her understanding of our interests and desires. The amount of resources/ideas for a wedding can be very overwhelming and we very much appreciated that Callandra’s experience gave her firm opinions about what we’d like and we trusted those opinions immediately. Every vendor she suggested was amazing and contributed to making the day exceptional.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Greg and I has a strong sense of the vibe we wanted at the wedding and the overall look, but at a high level. Callandra seems to ‘get” our vision right away and helped us turn our ideas into a reality. The key concepts we kept coming back to were “big family get together” and “sexy & sophisticated”. Callandra and our other amazing vendors took that concept and everything turned out exactly as we’d hoped.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The best part about the wedding – for both Greg and I – was exchanging our vows. We both put a lot of effort into writing them ourselves, and every word was meaningful to say and hear. It was made even more meaningful to say them in front of everyone we love. It was the pinnacle moment of the day – for us and based on the feedback we received from guests – very touching for them as well.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

If it’s an option for you, hire a wedding planner. That was an absolute game changer for us. It allowed Greg and I to completely enjoy the day – because we had total trust in Callandra’s vision and organization. We relied on her from day one for guidance and recommendations for vendors, and her attention to detail meant the day was seamless and we able to focus exclusively on each other and our guests.
Try to remember the reason for the celebration – the commitment you are making to each other in front of all your loved ones. It’s easy to get caught up in of the ‘business’ of the day, picking dresses, cake flavors and seating arrangements etc., but try not to sweat the details. Happiness and fun are contagious – if the bride and groom having the time of their lives, their guests likely will too.

Elegant Lavender Winter Wedding Inspiration

Shades of purple and lavender combine beautifully with an elegant and rustic design to create the perfect inspiration for a winter wedding. Inspired by winter itself, Simply Elegant Floral Designs created a gorgeous look that embodies the winter season in the lovely of ways, and Renee Sprink Photography captured it all beautifully!

From the designer:

“Winter” was my greatest inspiration for this elegant styled shoot set on a vast North Carolina farm. I was influenced by the cool grey and lavender tones of a winter sky, and incorporated those hues into the whole aesthetic. On the day of the shoot, our mid-February Carolina sky gifted us with silvery-lilac casts indicative of snow, and optimal for lighting our scenery. It so happened that snow was another great inspiration for my vision in this shoot, which reflected in the pops of white florals, the fluffy layers of our stunning Vera Wang bridal gown, and the desserts frosted to mimic snow covered hills. Coincidentally, we began the shoot blowing faux snow, and by the end of the day, were favored with Mother Nature’s gift of an authentic dusting! The bridal bouquet is my favorite aspect of arranging wedding florals, so that’s naturally where I began in my planning for this shoot. I chose to combine the soft silver and grey of the roses, brunia, and dusty miller with the boldness of purple anemone, white ranunculus, and black scabiosa. Our ceremony scene featured vintage church pews covered in fur stoles and several pretty pairs of vintage gloves to keep guests warm. The mantle altar was covered in garland, florals, and candles, set amidst the backdrop of rolling horse pastures and a stately Oak tree that made my heart flutter. The guest table was placed in a wooded glen, and featured place settings as unique as flakes of snow, accompanied by layers of floral arrangements for added interest. Dresses in lavender and plum completed the look for our stunning maids.

Just beautiful, don’t you think? I love the shades of purples and lavenders- and the florals are breathtaking!
