Julia and Nick’s pink and gray garden wedding at the gorgeous Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota, Florida was everything that they wanted- romantic, intimate, and unique! Drawing inspiration from their lush outdoor venue, Julia’s vision was to incorporate organic elements in with a romantic style. Unique flowers & centerpieces by Events in Bloom, a 3-tiered “naked” cake, and the most unique bridal bouquet I’ve ever seen are just a few of the details of this Sarasota wedding that you do not to miss. Lucky for us, Renee Nicole Photography was present to capture Julia & Nick’s wedding day as they celebrated with their nearest and dearest, and we cannot wait for you to see!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Renee Rodgers helped me tremendously, she suggested several of the vendors that I used. I am so Thankful that I stumbled upon her on Etsy.com for the invitations. She and I started talking and she advised me she did photography too and I was set! She seriously helped me through panic moments and was really caring throughout the entire time beginning to end. I also received a lot of help from my friends and family. My girlfriend Allison Bungert helped with the table numbers and the signs that we used and since I did not have a wedding planner another friend Jackie Manchester helped set up and make sure everyone had what they needed.

Our Caterer John at Zest Catering was phenomenal. They created a custom menu for us we wanted Southern inspired foods with a twist! Zest also did our Linens and lighting along with the place settings. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them they really helped pull everything together too.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We really wanted vendors who got “us” and that we felt comfortable around. I felt like meeting Vendors was like you were going on a first date. Lol !!! We pretty much knew within minutes if we had a good vibe with them. It was really important to not feel like just another couple.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I’m not usually a very girly girl but for some reason I was really drawn to Romantic and girly things when I was looking at ideas. Our theme was Organic Romantical :) I love anything natural looking and was Very drawn to pinks and Grey has become an obsession of mine so naturally that’s how we found our colors. Linen, Blush and Grey.

It was very important for us to feel like we were in our own back yard and we threw a way bigger and fancier party!! I always thought I would get married on the beach but when we went to beach venues it didn’t feel right. We walked into Marie Selby and I almost started crying (little did my fiancé know and plus its so unlike me).
It was so insanely beautiful everywhere I turned I couldn’t believe it AND it was on the water. It felt like we were in our backyard on the water. Perfect!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Turning the corner at the Ceremony and hearing At Last by Etta James while walking with my Dad to meet Nick. That was the most insane feeling! I’m sure everyone probably says that but everything else went by like a blink and this moment felt like it was in slow motion. Plus, I hadn’t seen anything so taking it all in, the view and everyone there it was just breath taking. Also my flowers!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Really stick to your dream and your vision and find vendors who will help you achieve it. It IS possible. They are out there. Oh AND Breathe!

It’s over in a blink – I was told take a moment and step back and watch with your new Husband – that’s a great moment watching everyone enjoy all of your hard work and celebrating you!

Oh I just love Julia’s advice- it makes me want to get married all over again so I can heed her wise words! And her bouquet… how absolutely amazing is it?!

From the planner and designer, Eclectic Fête:

Our journey began at daybreak at The Embassy Row Hotel in Dupont Circle. Emerging from the hotel on a cloudy day presented an eerily calm, cloudy backdrop for our scene at Meridian Hill Park—a hidden gem smack in the middle of DC!  We decided to play with the idea of constellations and had the fabulous model from T.H.E. Artist Agency pose as the Libra scale all while whimsically dancing to the angelic sounds of the wind blowing through a stunning mahogany cello provided by Brobst Violin Shop with select décor pieces from White Glove Rentals.

The next stop in our heavenly adventure was the Josephine Butler Parks Center—right across from the park. The Parks Center is a wickedly cool former embassy painted in the bright yellow hue of the sun! The porch of the Parks Center gave our banquet scene the perfect pop of color that accentuated the bride’s billowy “Shika” gown from St. Patrick for Pronovias provided by Bella Chic Luxe Bridal Boutique.  The tablescape featured a custom-designed constellation menu designed by Jolly Edition, ethereal florals from Twine & Toil, fabulous metallic rentals from Select Event Group, as well as a stunning lace blue and gold cake adorned with white sugar roses from Rebekah Naomi Cake Design.

As the sun began to set and the moon took center stage, our final stop at the National Gallery of Art took our concept to another galaxy!!  Using the Leo Villareal: Multiverse Exhibit as our muse, the bride literally danced amongst the stars as she personified the beauty and mystique of the celestial universe.

Such innovative inspiration for an absolutely beautiful wedding design!

From wedding planning tips to styled shoots and real weddings, we try our best to be as honest as possible with you, dear readers. So, let me be very clear: I want to move into this Texas garden wedding!

When the gorgeous images by Fairy Tale Photography landed in my inbox, I caught myself pausing to really reflect and catch all of the details in each one. Gorgeous golden light paired with Christina and Mark’s fantastic style (the groom topped off his attire with a plaid bow tie!) caused me to say, “this is fantastic” over and over again. I’m obsessed with the flowers designed by Everly Alaine Florals so much so that I’ve found my dream wedding bouquet and centerpieces, you can recreate the watercolor stationery because the duo purchased all of the pieces from Minted (one of our favorites!), and the Trinity River Audubon Center served as a lovely venue (one which I’m certain had an awesome sunset with the wraparound windows).

Before you dive headfirst into all of the photos and Christina’s insight, I’ll leave you with this: V List Member Julie from Events By Jules planned Christina and Mark’s sweet fete. If you’re planning a Dallas, Texas wedding, contact Julie – you won’t regret it! Enjoy, y’all!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

We actually found a lot of our vendors on Instagram.  We would look through the Instagram photos to get a general feel of their styles and then go from there.  Everything came together perfectly on the wedding day because we trusted the pros to do what they do best instead of being overly worried about every little thing.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We made it a point to make our decisions quickly when it came to booking vendors since we knew that the vendors could book up far in advance.  The most important thing to us was finding vendors that we could trust and enjoy working with – we were extremely fortunate to have worked with all of the wonderful vendors that helped pull our wedding together.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We wanted an organic, natural wedding and the venue was perfect since it is a nature preserve and educational center.  We wanted pops of color against the organic backdrop which we incorporated in all of the details.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The best part of our wedding was having the opportunity to have all of our closest friends and family together in one place.  Years from now, we will have great memories to share and reflect on with everyone.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff and just enjoy the day!  The guests are there to celebrate with you, so even if things aren’t exactly “perfect”, no one will notice!

Meaghan and Ross’s blush wedding is classic and elegantly southern, which makes it an instant favorite! A bottle of bourbon was buried a week before the ceremony – the perfect touch to combat a week of constant rain leading up to the soiree that turned into bright sunshine just in time – and bestowing hospitality upon their guests was paramount to the new Mr. and Mrs.

In order to make their vision a reality, the duo turned to Antonia Christianson Events who designed a marvelous fete at the Inn at Warner Hall. The front yard served as a lovely location for the ceremony, guests mingled throughout the Inn during cocktail hour, and everyone was welcomed into a tent for the reception. From the beautiful cake by Cakes By Charlie that became a favorite photo backdrop, to the blush, green, and ivory color palette, it’s evident that each and every detail was so thoughtfully chosen. You’re going to adore the photos captured by Lindsay Colette, and you may also have serious heart eyes for the bride and groom’s super adorable bowtie-wearing pup!
