Allie and Jimmy’s romantic Texas wedding was inspired by the colorful, floral filled designs showcased by Rifle Paper Co. stationery, and it was absolutely stunning! By incorporating floral elements into severals aspects of the day (the table numbers are perfection!), accenting with candlelight, and adding in touches of gold and glitter, Allie and Jimmy’s day was filled with the romance, warmth, and color they dreamed of. Lauren Reynolds Photography was there to capture the day that Kristin of Fabulous Fete planned flawlessly, and Allie is joining us today to share her insight into her wedding planning experience. We can’t wait for you to see all of the beauty!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Kristin Butler, my wedding coordinator from Fabulous Fete in Dallas, and my mom. I could not have had the day I did without them. Kristin provided me with references for vendors, timelines, suggestions, and was always available to talk to me. My mom helped me pick my vendors and was by my side through the entire process. You need someone you can vent to about frustrations because things will always come up! I had the perfect day because of my wedding dream team! You don’t have time to think about much on the actual day- and those two ladies made sure I didn’t need to.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted vendors that had great reputations and that I clicked with personality wise when I met them. You want people working at your wedding who you enjoy being around and who you can get along with. You are going to be talking to these people a lot leading up to the wedding and you might as well be having fun every time you talk! I felt like I created a friendship with everyone I worked with on my wedding. I still talk to my coordinator, makeup and hair artist, and photographer. My amazing photographer will also be shooting my best friend’s wedding in April! I plan on using Lauren Reynolds Photography for the rest of my life. So, interview these people and go with the ones that feel right in your gut.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My wedding inspiration started with stationery. I am a true believer in the meaning behind a handwritten note and collect paper products from Rifle Paper Company. I honestly wanted my wedding to make all of those involved and my guests feel like they opened a letter or note- exciting (you received snail mail yay!), warm, inviting, colorful, and meaningful. Rifle Paper Company’s products are filled with color and floral design- two very important aspects of my wedding. I built my wedding around my two colors: mint and the beautiful burst of a coral peony. I loved the contrast of these colors and how bright and cheerful the bouquets were. I also wanted nothing about my wedding to seem too structured or perfect. I wanted everything to be soft and curved, no straight lines or modern feel. It was important that my flowers look freshly picked and put together by hand and that the colors were eye catching. My cake was a simple warm white that allowed for the flowers to again take center stage. All of our paper pieces had flowers on them from the invitation, to the table numbers, and the stickers on our favor. In addition to these two colors, I mixed in gold. Gold is an important color to me because of its warmth. The glitter aspects and candle pillars in gold helped to create the warm atmosphere I was looking for. My wedding looked like the perfect reflection of the stationery I have been collecting over the years.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

That is so hard to pick! Obviously my amazing and loving husband, family, and friends were the reason my day was as fun and perfect as it was. The whole day felt like a dream and it couldn’t have been better. If I had to pick material aspects of my wedding, I would say my favorite two things were my flowers and my photos. Our photographer, Lauren Reynolds Logan, did an amazing job of timelessly capturing our day. She captured every last detail and instilled the warmth of our day into every shot. My flowers by Deitra Butler with Lush Couture were INCREDIBLY breathtaking. When I walked into our venue for the first time, I cried tears of joy. Seeing her work embody everything I was dreaming of for my wedding was a moment I will never forget.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Hire a wedding coordinator or planner! They are worth every penny. Kristin gave me recommendations for vendors and was the reason all of my planning went smoothly. Planning a wedding can get really overwhelming with all of the choices you have out there. If you hire a coordinator or planner who has worked with vendors in your area, they are going to direct you to people who are good at what they do because they are going to want to work with the best on your day as well! I remember walking out of a bridal show almost in tears because I didn’t know who to hire and who to trust. When I hired Fabulous Fete and Kristin to work with me, all of those worries were gone. She sent me three people per vendor category for me to choose from and I was able to interview and choose from there. Every person I hired was excellent and I actually miss talking to all of them regularly! Kristin was such an integral part of my perfect day- definitely make that investment.
