Roman & Nicole’s New York wedding took place on the Fourth of July last year at the stunning Whitby Castle. Their day was filled with small, festive details to celebrate the holiday, but was still elegant and absolutely beautiful. Florals in shades of blush, white, and green created a perfectly chic ambiance among the elegance of their castle venue.  Lucky for us, Lacey Gabrielle Photography was there to capture each and every moment, and we can’t wait for you take in all of the beauty of Roman and Nicole’s wedding day!

Unlike some brides-to-be, Briana is the first to note she did not spend years dreaming of her West Palm Beach wedding day. Instead, she quickly turned to Desiree of Desiree Dawn Events for a reason we hear so often at ELD: Briana trusted her planner immediately. Briana and Desiree began working together to turn the West Palm Beach Lake Pavilion and Dock into Briana and Bryan’s own version of a meaningful day.

Briana notes she is drawn to floral arrangements filled with greenery, so Flower & Fringe created organically designed bouquets and centerpieces, as well as a fabulous arbor, that matched B’s inspiration. Although the couple didn’t want their wedding to have a theme, they did decide to honor both of their families who are of Irish decent with a number of thoughtfully planned Irish details.

As a result of a fantastic vendor team, Briana notes below that each and every moment on her wedding day was her favorite because Desiree and the couple’s photographer, Todd Good Photography, made sure they were stress-free to enjoy every moment.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My planner Desiree Oftedal (Desiree Dawn Events) helped me most in the planning process and on my wedding day.  I wasn’t one of those brides who had every single tiny detail pre-planned in a scrapbook I’ve been creating since I was a little girl.  Far from it, I barely know the name of more than one flower, I had no clue what the difference between fondant and buttercream was, and I’ve never been a bridesmaid or involved in planning any sort of wedding or event…ever.  The entire process seemed overwhelming.  The only thing I knew is that I didn’t want my wedding to be stiff or for me to feel like an air-brushed cream puff bride. I knew I wanted my wedding to be beautiful, fun, feel natural, and to uniquely reflect me and my husband’s personalities.   Luckily I met Desiree.  She got to know me and helped create a vision.  Desiree connected me with the most perfect vendors and incredibly creative people like our photographer, Todd Good.  Todd is so talented–he captures the most amazingly beautiful candid moments.  We are blown away by how gorgeous our pictures turned out.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I think trust is the most important thing when deciding who to work with.  When I met Desiree at a Starbucks for the first time she seemed so down to earth and kind.  I just felt that I knew I could trust her right away.  Some other people and vendors I had met with seemed phony or fake and I felt uncomfortable with them. Every single person Desiree hooked us up with, from the photographer to the florist to the caterer, I felt the exact same way with.  My advice would be, go with your gut.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Desiree had me go through wedding magazines and pictures.  The style I was drawn to always had lots of greenery and was a little rustic, beachy, but elegant. We eventually went with a mint and bronze Irish theme that we created using inspiration from all of the pictures I had chosen and the fact that both me and Bryan’s families are of Irish descent.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved every second of my wedding day.  It was unique, it was beautiful, it felt natural and it was a lot of fun.  Favorite thing?  I loved the whole thing.  Desiree and Todd did a great job of taking care of everything so that I could sit back, relax and sip champagne and enjoy every moment of my day.  I guess that’s my favorite part, how stress-free and fun it was.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Advice to other brides:  get yourself a good planner who you can trust, spend the extra money on what’s most important to you, cut back on what’s not.  Don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy every single moment of your day because it all goes by way too fast.

This stunning North Carolina wedding took place in the mountains of Cashier at Trillium Lake & Links Club. Although a destination wedding for the bride and groom, Chrissy and Nick, they knew exactly what they wanted- a soft, antique feel against lush shades of green from the surrounding mountains. The couple worked alongside their wedding planner, Laurie Hartwell Events, to create a vintage, elegant design, incorporating colorful shades of peach and yellow to pop beautifully against neutral tones of gray and green. Lucky for us, our favorite photography duo, Concept Photography, was there to capture everything, and they even did a sunrise day-after session too! We can’t wait for you to take in the beauty of this stunning mountain day and hear all about it from Chrissy’s interview below!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My wedding planner, (who happens to be my fabulous Aunt) Laurie Hartwell, of Laurie Hartwell Events, was an absolute godsend. She has knowledge and experience that was invaluable and I would recommend her to anyone. Laurie referred me to Concept Photography who brought us those beautiful pictures. Also, this is an enormous understatement, but my parents were a huge help both financially and emotionally. I can never thank them enough for giving me my dream wedding.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I needed someone who knew me on a personal level, who could fully know and understand my likes and dislikes. Someone who was easy to communicate with and cared about my wedding like I did.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I love rustic, antique, and earthy styles. Our wedding was a destination wedding in North Carolina (we live in Chicago) but the mountains have an energy that drew us in. I chose flowers that accented the shades of the green scenery. Muted yellows and soft peaches with hints of ivory and pinks.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

It rained on our wedding day, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The last droplets of rain sparkled in our photos. Right before I walked down the aisle, the clouds cleared up and as I looked at my soon to be husband, a rainbow had appeared behind him!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Be clear and honest about what your vision is. Be patient with your wedding planner and anyone else helping you. Do not get hung up on small things. When your day comes, you know you have prepared the best you can, so just enjoy it.

Our partners at Dove recently launched their new Amazing Moments campaign, celebrating the fact that sometimes the moments that make us sweat are the most amazing moments of all. We all know that the events surrounding engagements and weddings can definitely be a little nerve-inducing. To showcase this very concept, Dove put its Clinical Protection Antiperspirant to the test during Louisa’s surprise proposal to the love of her life, Rob. Watch their sweet story below, and then keep reading for one of my own amazing moments!

View the film here!

I’ve been using Dove for as long as I can remember, and it’s safe to say that they certainly played a part in my own wedding day. After all, Dove Clinical Protection offers undeniable wetness protection and has ¼ moisturizers to care for skin.

One amazing moment from my wedding day comes from both a sentimental and educational viewpoint, and I’m sharing all about it with you today!

Here at Every Last Detail, we are huge proponents of the amazing moments that are so commonly associated with First Looks. But it may surprise you as to why- because I myself didn’t do a First Look for my own wedding!

You see, I had dreamed of walking down the aisle to my soon-to-be husband for years. Quite literally- since we were married in my childhood church and had been dating for 9 years. So when my photographer presented me with the concept of a First Look, I immediately said no. What I didn’t know about, however, were the benefits of a First Look.

As I walked down the aisle to my husband, I was a teary eyed mess. And when I say teary eyed mess, I really mean blubbering ugly crying mess. Add in the fact that 200 people were witnessing this, trying not to trip over my dress, and remembering what to do when I reached my soon-to-be husband? Goodness gracious y’all- talk about nerves! Luckily, all of those things disappeared fast as I got closer to my husband, and I made it down the aisle.

But all that to say… I definitely wish I had done a First Look. Why, you ask? Because I know without a doubt that I would have been able to be more in the moment as I was walking down the aisle. Instead of worrying about the fact that I was crying, I would have been able to focus on my husband, and actually notice our loved ones who were there to witness our marriage. Had I seen my husband before, we would have been able to chat before our vows and look each other in the eyes. Instead, we went right into an hour long Catholic mass, could hardly even say hi to each other, and had to awkwardly whisper to one another amidst all of our excitement.

Why You Dont Want To Miss Out On The Amazing Moments of a First Look via TheELD.com

Forgetting about my own experience for a second, let’s also consider the thousands of weddings that I’ve seen. Can you guess which couples always have the best images and reactions of the groom as his bride walks down the aisle to him? The ones who do a First Look! Knowing all that goes into a wedding day, and being by the side of many couples too, the private moments together that a First Look provides are invaluable. You can laugh, cry, hug, and kiss, all without worrying a thing about who sees you (other than your photographer of course). And then, when it comes time to walk down the aisle, the bride and groom are always both so much more in the moment. Eyes fixed on one another, focusing on what is about to happen, and the pure fact that you can fixate that you are walking down the aisle to your future husband. Not to mention that everyone I’ve ever talked to who has done a First Look always says that they are so glad they did it, and it’s one of the most memorable, amazing moments from their wedding day!

And as proof, I wanted to share my all-time favorite First Look and “Down the Aisle” images I’ve seen…

Amazing, right?! Friends, after all of this… I definitely encourage you to consider a First Look, so you can experience all of those amazing moments on your own wedding day! And of course don’t forget to include Dove Clinical Protection in your wedding day too!
