Lena and Michael wanted something elegant, classic, sparkly, and beautiful for their Florida wedding. They both have a strong love for each other, the country, and the Florida sun.  The bride combined white roses, gold, and antlers to portray their home, their lifestyle, and the groom’s hobby: hunting.

We love how they transformed the rustic barn style of Laytn’s Land-n into a elegant evening that still stayed true to their country style. With Angelita Esparar Photography capturing the most beautiful moments, we love how their wedding day came together. We hope you enjoy every special detail that brought their vision to life.

The simple elegance of Nicole and Adam’s Indiana wedding day at The Palladium in Carmel maintained a focus on sweet details and personal touches that made their day so special.

Soft florals created by JP Parker Florists in light blush added the perfect amount charm and elegance to the tables in the reception space. We love the greenery watercolor stationery suite and table numbers from Oliver’s Twist that seemed to match so perfectly with their arrangements. We are thrilled that this couple has shared some extra details with us about what made their day so special, and we hope you enjoy the way Danielle Harris Photography captured their beautiful day.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding vision, colors, style, and location.

My overall vision was wanting something that would be timeless and classic. Something where my kids wouldn’t look back at pictures and wonder what on earth I was thinking. I also wanted a sort of Downton Abbey inspired (not themed) wedding if Mary Crawley got married in 2017. So it had a little modern-vintage twist as well.

I wanted to keep things soft, light, airy, and romantic. I chose blush and navy as the colors. This surprised everyone who always thought I’d have a black and red wedding. But I loved the soft look of blush, and navy compliments it well.

I wanted to keep things simple but have nice details. Flowers were the main decorations.

The ceremony and reception were held at the same venue. The Palladium is part of the Carmel Center for Performing Arts. We walked by it almost daily on walks with the dog. It’s one of the main focal points of the city where we live and met. And it’s beautiful inside matching the theme perfectly.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

Having good food and a live band were both items that were important to us to have a good experience for our guests. We had thought about skipping the open bar, but switched to beer and wine only to save some money.

Besides food, flowers were probably one of the bigger ticket items. I know that’s one place where we could have saved a bunch, but I think flowers are beautiful. We saved money by doing simple, inexpensive items for the rest of the decorations (simple metal arch for the ceremony and inexpensive frames for the table numbers).

What were your favorite parts of the day?

My favorite parts of the day were those when there weren’t as many people around. I loved that we did the first look. It gave the two of us a simple moment before the rest of the chaos started.

I loved watching my family dancing on the dance floor to the band. No one is good at dancing, but everyone knows how to have fun.

I also loved near the end of the evening when it was our very closest friends and family left. It felt like an intimate gathering where we really got to spend some special time with the people we love.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Our day-of coordinator, Meg Osborne, was a life saver. Without her help, I know my family would have had a ton to do and wouldn’t have enjoyed themselves as much.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Figure out what’s most important, and spend the money there. Be willing to go over budget if something is really important to you, but don’t completely break the bank if you can’t afford to have it paid off within a couple months of the wedding. If the whole thing seems too stressful, go get married at the courthouse in a pretty dress and nice suit and throw a party later.

Simple details and putting priority on the things that matter most as you celebrate the start to a wonderful marriage, we think this is a great way to focus yourself as you dive into your wedding planning.

Five Tips for Stress-Free Family Portraits on a Wedding Day

By Katerina Foster of Katerina Marie Photography. Art. Designs. LLC

One thing that stresses my couples out more than anything is family portraits on a wedding day. It is one of the biggest sources of stress leading up to the day as well as on the day itself because there is no way to be in control. But, there IS a way to manage it! Below are my top five tips for a stress free formal family portrait time.

5 Tips for Stress Free Family Portraits on a Wedding Day via TheELD.com

Make A List

Writing up a list of family members you need formal portraits with is an absolute must! Give this list to your photographer(s) so they can have it on hand during the scheduled formal portrait time. Having a description (such as “Groom’s Grandma”) of the family members as well as their name is a huge bonus! Organize the list largest to smallest. Starting with large group formals is a great way to relieve some stress by dismissing family members that won’t be in other groupings.

Keep it to Immediate Family Only

Immediate family is considered parents, siblings and grandparents. Of course, if your siblings have spouses or children, they would be included as well! If there is an extended family member or guest (such as a Godmother) that is very special to you, feel free to include a shot with them! For the rest of your extended family and friends, plan to snag some informal photos with them during the reception. The less people you include in your family portrait time, the less stressful that time will be!

Let Them Know When & Where

I always tell my couples to inform each family member that they want a photo with during formal portraits where they need to meet us and when! If we are doing formal portraits prior to the ceremony, I advise they tell them to arrive 30 minutes prior to when their scheduled photo time is- that way, we can avoid any tardiness! If formal portraits are being taken after the ceremony, I advise them to inform them that they cannot attend cocktail hour until they are finished with photos. As soon as a family member disappears to grab a drink or run to the restroom, the shot list will be thrown out of whack.

Help Your Photographer

Nine times out of ten, the order of the list will go out the window due to a family member going missing. Stay calm! This is now the time to team up with your photographer to scan the room to see who is around for a photo since you know names and faces. Look over the list together and call out to any family members you see available for a quick shot while waiting on the missing member(s) to return.

ELD Tip: We also suggest assigning a family member who will be familiar with most of the people on your list to be the designated person to go find missing people. Someone like an aunt or cousin would be perfect for this!

Drink Wine

Need I say more?! Have one bridal party member go to the open bar (cut the line) and grab you and your groom a drink! Most couples ask for water because wedding day dehydration is a real thing but if you need something to calm your nerves a bit, go for it! Just be sure not to spill on yourselves or drink too much too fast. If you are hungry, ask them to grab you a couple hors d’oeuvres as well!

I hope these tips help you prepare for your own family portrait time. And when in doubt, shut out all the crazy and just take in the moment. Look over at your new spouse and enjoy where you are and what you’re doing right at that moment. This is the best day of your life!

We love how inspiration for a wedding day style can start in the most unusual places, and Scheme Events found their inspiration in the children’s book, I Love You Night and Day by Smriti Prasadam-Halls. Teaming up with a list of incredible Las Vegas vendors, they pulled together a modern elegant wedding style with a bold contrasting color palette of bright white and deep moody tones that played off the contrast of night vs. day.

Unique elements were everywhere- like floral hoops from Cultivate Goods that were carried in lieu of  traditional bridesmaid bouquets, a shooting star LED screen as a backdrop, and our personal favorite, a dry ice cake stand to accent the bold wedding cake by cakelava! This team created a truly inspiring style that mixed both the traditional wedding aspects with details that wowed!

We also love that they took risks with the color combination. White walls and a white dance floor created a stark contrast to the pops of black in the space. Black acrylic chairs and black brushed flatware were bold statement pieces that added a beautiful element to the reception style. Paired with a light blue velvet linen that draped the tables, the mix of icy tones were a fun balance to the black and deep blue and green tones that were added to the mix.

An incredible amount of work and detail went into this wedding design, and we love how Norina Kaye Photography captured this vision so perfectly! We hope you enjoy!

This inspiring design created some seriously magical moments. The sweet love and beautiful details inspired by a simple book incorporated elements that mimicked the mystery of the night sky, and we are completely in love!

We love that they closed the evening with a sit on the tip of the crescent moon, which made for a unique take on a photo backdrop for guests to enjoy!
