With a mutual love for the water, Catie and Scott knew that they wanted to incorporate this into their Florida wedding day from the very beginning.
Starting early with their venue search, they found the perfect venue that captured their love for water at The River House in St. Augustine, Florida. Using a light, neutral color palette of muted greens and peaches, they chose a classic and elegant style that allowed the beauty of the space to really shine. With the guidance of The Eventful Gals, they celebrated in style with a waterfront ceremony and a charming reception with simple Southern style.
We love the beauty, love, and utter joy that We are The Bowzers captured throughout their wedding day, and we are thrilled to share some behind the scenes insight from the bride!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).
Scott & I both share a love of the water, so of course we wanted our wedding day to incorporate this. My mom actually suggested the venue we chose, and the first time we went to tour it we knew it was perfect. The River House offered everything we wanted: just outside the center of St. Augustine, it provided a gorgeous view of the Mantanzas River perfect for an outdoor ceremony coupled with a elegant ballroom for the reception. We wanted a coastal themed wedding, incorporated the blues & greens of Florida. Working with the staff at the River House and the ladies at The Eventful Gals helped us achieve everything we wanted for our wedding day.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We both wanted to be conscientious of budgeting, not wanting to spend too much on frivolous or unnecessary things. We knew that photography and videography were very important, so we made sure to obtain referrals from friends & families and meet with several companies before choosing We Are the Bowsers (who were AMAZING!). Food was also an important part of the wedding, and we tried several caterers before choosing La Cocina. We have a lot of friends & family with certain dietary restrictions, so we wanted to make sure everyone was accommodated. Florals were obviously more important to me, whereas Scott handled the alcohol selection. In the end, we made sure to communicate with each other throughout the entire planning process to ensure that both of our visions could come together for the perfect day. While I did handle most of the planning, it was definitely a combined effort for both of us.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Everything!! The final product was everything I could have imagined. Every vendor was so great to work with and everything ran as smoothly as I could have hoped for.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My (now) husband, our families, and our wedding party. And of course, our wedding coordinator, The Eventful Gals!
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Start early! Communicate. The best wedding days are a result of a combined effort. Listen to what your significant other wants, what their vision is, and try to make concessions where you can. It’s hard to achieve every specific detail, but if you work together the final product will be everything you BOTH wanted which makes it that much more special.
Always our favorite advice! Planning a wedding is hard work, and we love when couples dive in together, focus on what’s important, and celebrate every moment that the day offers.
