What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mother and sister helped me so much threw the journey of wedding planning and deciding on vendors and everthing elese ,especially keeping me calm . My wedding planner Annette Hoegner was lovely she was so helpful the day of my wedding.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The vendors had to be well organized, have great ideas, be available for questions, be professional, and of course we had to feel comfortable with them. All of my vendors were amazing. I do have to say my florist, Shawn Adams, is so talented. He helped me create the wedding of my dreams! Also my baker, Kirk Engrasci, created my perfect cake. He’s a true artist and a true perfectionist.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My wedding coordinator, Annette, sent us our first couples Christmas ornament. Also, the day of my wedding she went over and above to make sure my chairs arrived there and were put together on time. For the reception, it was a really rainy day, and there was a possibility that my chairs weren’t going to get there, as the truck was stuck in the rain on the freeway- but Annette made it happen for for us! Thank you so much Annette!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The whole venue is breath taking. Walking through the giant chapel doors for my grand entrance and then looking at my soon to be hubby had to be my favorite thing. :)

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Our advice : do your homework on all vendors, take time to make decisions, and most importantly, ask questions. Try and breathe, stay calm and don’t overreact. Think about or write down certain moments from the day that matter to you the most or what you want to remember so when those moments are happening you can pay extra attention to them to remember them always.

A big thank you to Cean One Photography Studios for (literally) brightening our day and to Amber for letting us share in her big day!

Wanna hear something fun? I LOVE group shots like the one above. Love ’em. We did one for our wedding and those photos are some of my absolute favorites.

So I’ve been thinking about something a lot this week. That something is that if I had known what to expect for what things would have cost for my wedding, I would have done things A LOT differently. Seriously. Maybe, just maybe if I hadn’t been so SHOCKED the first time I heard a photographer’s rates, I wouldn’t have gone with the cheaper, more inclusive, lesser-quality option. If someone had told me what to expect beforehand, I could have been prepared, and able to make a more informed, REALISTIC decision. And so today, I have a little something for you- you can think of it as a little *taste* of a project that I have coming soon…

Last year, I did a survey among wedding vendors throughout the world (mostly US, but I did have some International vendors) about what their average brides commonly spend with them. I did this because with all of the info and surveys out there, no one ever touched on what each portion of a wedding cost. How are brides supposed to know what kind of costs to expect and base their budget off of if they don’t even have an accurate idea of what going rates are?! The pricing survey was simple and to-the-point, and while I didn’t get every single vendor in the world, I think the data that I received portrays weddings and vendor pricing accurately. The full-out project is still being completed, but I thought for the purpose of education I would share one of the pieces of data that I collected from the survey.

Photographers from around the world submitted the average amount that their brides spend with them, and the result is….

{Thursday Tips} What Wedding Photography Costs! via TheELD.com

Now don’t freak out. Yes, there were of course lower numbers than this, as well as higher numbers than this, plus pricing can definitely vary by region- and so all those things considered, this is why $3520 is the AVERAGE of all of the data I collected. With the completed project, I will share the full range of the pricing, but for now, I just *had* to get this out there so you all KNEW what to expect! Understand that I’m not saying it’s expected that you spend $3500 on your wedding photography, but just know that it’s a REALISTIC average for wedding photography! Because quite frankly, I refuse to be anything BUT realistic with you all when it comes to planning your wedding! :)

What are your thoughts, or maybe your own experiences? If you’ve already booked your photographer, what are you paying? What kinds of pricing have you seen for wedding photography? This is all about being REALISTIC with each other, so please do share! (Just please be nice about it!) :)

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom was a huge help throughout everything! Not only would she go on these epic hunts for little knick-knacks, but she was always my voice of reason and made sure we stayed on track!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I think it’s important to work with people you really enjoy being around. All of our vendors were super fun to work with and did such a fantastic job–above and beyond what we ever expected. We would highly recommend each and every one.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

Our caterer was so sweet! They really took our vision to heart and crafted us a menu that they had never done before. They took their own pictures throughout our wedding day and compiled them into a short video montage. It was fun to see them having so much fun working our wedding! Also, when we got into our ride after the reception there was a basket with champage, snacks and sweets waiting for us from them. It was so thoughtful!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

So hard to pick one thing, but it was truly incredible to have all our favorite people from different parts of our lives, from all over the world, converge together in one room.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

It’s really easy to get caught up in everyone else’s expectations and opinions. Stick to your guns and stay true to you!

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful insight Kristin! And a big thank you to Studio222 Photography for capturing Kristin’s wedding so beautifully! :)

I don’t know about you, but I am absolutely LOVING those buttons that they had- and there’s a little story behind them. The bride and groom call themselves “Team Tierney” so they had team bride and team groom buttons made and guests could pick which they wanted to wear. SO fun!! How about you? What did you love most about this wedding?
