Happy Friday! Brightly-colored flowers, a tropical island vibe, and simple details are all what make up today’s beautiful Costa Rica wedding. The bride and groom, Sara and BJ, also took their destination wedding as a perfect opportunity for the both of them to just relax and have a great time… being lawyers in New York, why not, right?  A Brit and a Blonde did a fabulous job of capturing all of the life, love, and happiness that makes up this wedding, so let’s go on a little “escape” to Costa Rica for a few minutes, shall we?

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Friends who had been through the process before were absolutely key for advice and calming words. Also, my now husband, who never lost sight of the chill destination wedding that was our goal.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Everything being outside. When you’re outside in good weather dancing under the stars, none of the other details matter.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I got a lot of inspiration from Style Me Pretty. Our friend Abby designed our invitations. My mother-in-law is really good at this stuff and did the welcome bags.

Besides the beautiful colors, my favorite part about this wedding is the fact that the entire thing was outside – Sara said it best. When you have the beauty of nature surrounding, with the added combo of being able to celebrate with your significant other, what could be more perfect?!

Are any of you planning destination weddings? If so, where?

xo,
Brit

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

The people who helped me the most in the planning process was: my mom, my mother in law, my sister, my co-workers, and my bridesmaids!  My husband helped a lot too! :)

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important thing to me when deciding who to work with was whether or not they made me and my wedding feel special.  I chose the venue for our reception because of the personal and trustworthy feeling they made me feel.  I wanted my vendors to be as excited as I was!  I knew they would make sure everything was perfect and we would have fun while planning!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I had so much inspiration because I love so many different things!  But I definitely wanted lots of color and a playful, whimsical feeling because that is what reminds me of my relationship with my husband!  I absolutely adore retro flair, patterns, and unique touches.  Orange is my favorite color because it is cheerful and fun so I focused a lot of the theme around this as well.  I also wanted guests to feel lighthearted and have so much fun on our wedding day!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Just being in one room with every single person who was important to us was an amazing feeling.  It’s something that can never be replaced!  We had a perfect, sunny day where I got to marry my best friend!  My favorite specific moment of the day was when we exited the front church doors through an aisle of so many smiling faces waving colorful ribbon wands and cheering and got into a bright yellow Volkswagen bug!  It was a moment I couldn’t have imagined being any better!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best piece of advice is to not sweat the small stuff.  Trust that all of your planning will come together just perfectly and, if it doesn’t, that’s ok!  I had a bridesmaid go into labor on the morning of the wedding day as we were all getting our hair done and a groomsmen faint in the middle of the ceremony but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!  It’s all about making memories and enjoying the entire day.  I would also say that your photographer is the most important vendor you will hire!  At the end of the day, all of your hard work and special moments are shown through the photos that you will treasure forever!

Oh my goodness… a bridesmaid going into labor and a groomsman fainting?! Natalie is right when she says not to sweat the small stuff- I may have been a little stressed out about that! But she’s so right- it’s all about making memories! Thank you for sharing with us Natalie, and thank you to AJH Photography for sharing the beautiful images!

I love how fun and bold everything is in this wedding! It feels like such a party, and it sure looks like everyone had a blast! How about you- what do you think of the bold colors and the fun, modern style?

Happy 4th of July everyone! I’m going to try real hard to take today off, but a holiday in the middle of the work week is bound to mess with my routine, so we’ll see how I do! Well, today’s wedding from Ashley Bee Photography is not only awesome… it’s absolutely perfect for today! The bride and groom actually got engaged while visiting the groom’s family in Holland, which brought forth instant inspiration for their wedding! Inspired by their heritages- American for the bride, Dutch for the groom- they incorporated Dutch and American antiques and vivid red roses with a vintage style. What’s even more perfect is that the two countries share the colors of red, white, and blue, which makes it the ideal wedding for this lovely Independence Day. :)

You all know that I’m always saying your wedding should reflect you- and this wedding definitely achieved that reflection perfectly! What better way to infuse your relationship into your wedding details than to base them off of your heritage?!

So what do you all this of this Dutch and American-inspired wedding? Would you do something like this for your own wedding’s theme?
