Happy Tuesday friends! Usually when you hear the words “Fall wedding inspiration”, your thoughts immediately turn to deep shades of colors like brown and orange, right? Well Stefanie of Lavender Joy Weddings teamed up with some fabulous Fort Worth wedding pros to create a gorgeous, colorful new take on Fall wedding inspiration. Drawing inspiration from a Paper Source floral pattern that incorporated blue, red, and orange, Stefanie created a simple yet colorful table that used orange in an unexpected and different way. With watercolor stationery elements by Palm Papers, delicate ombre florals by Kate Foley Designs, the beautiful locale of Howell Family Farms, and gorgeous photography captured by Kari Crowe, this colorful Fall wedding inspiration is absolutely a sight to behold.

Want to know what my favorite part of this inspiration shoot is? The fact that I was actually there in person to see all of this gorgeousness come to life! The Dallas/Fort Worth area was actually the last stop on my road trip this past summer, and I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to work with fabulous new wedding professionals! And it was SUCH a joy- thank you to everyone who created this gorgeous inspiration!

What do you all think of this different twist on Fall wedding inspiration? I for one absolutely love it! I’ve never been a fan of the typical Fall color schemes, and I just LOVE the bold pops of colors paired with burnt orange! Are you thinking about going a little outside of the norm with your own wedding colors?

Seriously guys, no words for this rustic Pennsylvania wedding by Stephanie A. Smith Photography! I am absolutely in awe at everything about this one: the gorgeous couple, the incredible venue, the sweet decor. You can just see the love between these two in their first look, and and it’s the simple details that really bring it all together. Don’t believe me? Take a look and judge for yourself!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My sister had gotten married less than 6 months earlier was such a help. We sort of went through the process together. I ended up using two of her vendors, hair and florist. She is also very crafty so was the brains (and hands) behind many of the crafts.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

My first criteria was to find people who were reasonably priced and had quality reviews. After that it was really important that I felt comfortable with them. I knew that these were going to be the people who were all around me during my big day so wanted to make sure they would add to my happiness. This was particularly important choosing a photographer since they are with you the entire day. As soon as I met Stephanie, she felt like a fast friend and I actually enjoyed having her by my side. She just makes you feel comfortable and at ease

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I went with rustic chic. Although we live in the city now, both My fiancé and I grew up in the country. My family owns a working farm and he grew up in an old stone farm house with lots of land. I am admittedly very much a city girl these days, But thought it was representative of our backgrounds and definitely my finance’s laid back take on life. Mixing some chic in seemed to meld in with my current lifestyle as well. And it was so fun to go with this type of theme! We went with burlap table runners, mason jars candle holders covered in lace, old distressed shutters from my in-laws farmhouse to hold the escort cards, and mismatched bottles for table vases. We also were our own table numbers to add a little fun into things!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved it all. It was magical to see everything come together that day from a year of planning. Having all of our family and friends in one place was euphoric. If I had to pick one thing though it would be our ceremony. I had been to so many weddings over the years and the ceremonies always were the exact same. I really wanted ours to be unique and personal and to talk about us and our relationship and love for each other. So after much thought, here is what we decided…

My husband’s best friend from college was our officiant and we actually married ourselves. In Pennsylvania you can have a Quaker wedding license which means you marry yourselves. That was very empowering and really felt right to us. We then wrote our entire ceremony, including our vows. I had our closest family and friends write something about us and our relationship and send to the officiant. He selected a few to read during the ceremony which was awesome. He then did a beautiful, touching, personal reflection on us just before we gave our vows. There wasn’t a dry seat in the house. So many people have told me it is the best ceremony they have ever seen

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

It is your wedding so make it what you want! Everyone has an opinion but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Do what you want! Also don’t sweat the small stuff. Know that things will go wrong that day but it doesn’t matter. You will be lost in the moment so stay there and don’t let anything bring you down!

See what I mean? What a beautiful, sweet, intimate wedding! Everything from the mismatched flowers to the long tables and rustic touch is just perfection. This just might be one of my favorites!

xoxo, Joelle

Rosanna and Marc’s gorgeous white wedding, photographed by Concept Photography, screams “Miami chic” to me – I love the palm trees, the tropical flowers and leaves, the breezy cool modern reception venue, and the gorgeous bride and groom! I just can’t stop staring at these fabulous photos… Every one is more beautiful than the last!

From the bride:

We both share a love of the waterfront here in South Florida, great views, the outdoors, and minimalist, eclectic design. It took a very long time to decide on a venue. We were a bit overwhelmed at first since there are so many beautiful places on the water in South Florida. But once we found the Grove Isle Hotel everything clicked. The hotel had the exact vibe we were looking for – chic, romantic, and relaxed.

We made our own “Here comes the Bride” signs, our table assignments were handwritten on a mirror instead of printed. One of my wedding gown sashes was hand sewn by a cousin and a friend made our Mr. & Mrs. Signs for our reception chairs.

We loved how our reception décor complemented our venue’s stunning views of Biscayne Bay. The clean simplicity of white on white offset by candlelight and natural elements was exactly what we wanted. The atmosphere of the wedding reception was simply perfect. Most specifically, I love how the placecard-substitute mirror turned out.

We asked the bride about her favorite part of the wedding. Her answer?

Besides having everyone I love (who are typically spread out across the country/globe) in one place… everything that made it a great party – the gorgeous venue, the beautiful decor, the awesome band, the fabulous afterparty. I love throwing a good party that keeps people dancing all night.

Looks like a great party!! And it’s also an excellent reminder that modern and chic can also be personal and full of great details!  Are you planning a modern wedding?  How will you bring fun details to the party to create a day full of personality?

This week’s Vendor of the Week is the ever-so-fabulous Houston, Texas wedding planner, A Day To Remember! The owner, Claudia, loves wedding details just as much as I do, plus she has a good 10+ years of wedding planning experience! Let’s learn a little more about A Day To Remember, shall we?

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

I don’t think we can truly label ourselves in any of these categories. We have brides from all walks of life and love that we can run with their ideas and create that perfect…Day To Remember!

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

Weddings are all about the details and that is something I encourage our couples to focus on; from the Save the Dates, down to the menu items. The best way to achieve the perfect details, unique to our couples is by getting to know them. I love hearing the guests say, “WOW, that is so {couple} to do this or that.” It lets us know we are doing our job right. Unique details we’ve done in the past: A beach-themed wedding with sand dollars as escort cards; rose petal cones made of the bride’s grandmother’s hymnal book, highly ornate petal runners in paisley shapes, and the list goes on…

What is your favorite store or brand?

Oh boy, that’s a toughy; too difficult to pick just one. I’m a huge fan of Anthropologie, but then sway to the other spectrum with the whole Pin-Up, 50’s look. I can’t say I’m a true fan of brands, as I am more about texture, comfort and style.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

Weddings are such a joyous occasion, it is difficult to pick just one favorite thing. I’ve been doing weddings for over 10 years now and I STILL cry at every single one! The most intimate moment is when the bride is walking down the aisle and her future spouse is holding his breath taking in her beauty. The father/daughter and mother/son dance is so truly special and intimate. You say the look of pride in the parents’ eyes…it’s just priceless!
