A little bit about this gorgeous wedding from Cape Cod Celebrations…

Carin & Billy approached me in May for their Monday, August wedding in Harwich.  Carin was currently living in London, Billy in Boston and they wanted to throw a back yard wedding at their friend’s house, off of a cranberry bog in Harwich. Carin and Billy chose a Monday because their guest list included friends and family from all over the world.  Carin even hand painted a directional sign which included all of the places in the world that their guests came from to be with them.

From their $87 Stop and Shop flowers in mason jars, hanging picture frame for photos, and their ceremony on a dock, to their huge, hand painted table names and canoe ride for photos- there was really no detail left unturned.  This wedding was full of love – everyone helped to make it happen.  I felt honored to be able to work with such a wonderful couple and their awesome family and friends at such a unique location.

I love that you can easily tell how personal and intimate Carin and Billy’s wedding was. And how amazing are those handpainted signs? Love them!

Brides, I’m curious- are any of you going to be having your weddings in a backyard like this couple did?

Happy weekend everyone! Did you catch the special new feature here on ELD, Film Friday? If not, go take a look! :) This week’s Detail To Love is a fabulous take on Mr & Mrs signs… using vintage books! I absolutely LOVE it!

You may know that Mr & Mrs signs are one of my favorite details. Are any of you planning on doing a Mr & Mrs detail of some kind? What’s your plan?

Hey friends! I am SO excited to be starting a new little series to add to Friday’s beauty here on ELD… “Film Friday”! I’m lucky enough to be able to see amazing wedding films all the time, and so I wanted to start something that would highlight *just* those amazing wedding films. You see, in the wedding blog world, sometimes the films aren’t ready by the time the photos get submitted, or sometimes they’re just overlooked. So I’ve decided that it’s about time wedding films get some attention of their own! Because cinematography has a special place in my heart. I’ve seen memorable moments happen at weddings several times- moments that unfortunately couldn’t be captured by photography. Whether it was an awesome toast, or a dance-off between the bride and groom, the truth is, every couple deserves to be able to have both still and action moments from their wedding captured. :)

So to start off the new Film Friday series, I have a fun, loving, and emotional film from Imprint Cinema! They had this to say about Hannah and Gabe’s wedding:

“Hannah and Gabe were just about the cutest couple you’d ever seen. From the moment we walked into Hannah’s room on the morning of her wedding day you could tell (as so wonderfully described by her maid of honor) she was so excited to marry the man of her dreams! We spent the morning laughing and reminiscing with her about their relationship, watching her do her “I love Gabe” dance many many times, and as I walked her down to see him for the first time for their first look, she turned to me and said, “I look beautiful right? I want to look beautiful for him.” Adorable. There was not a moment during this day everyone was not smiling. The words spoken were true and heartfelt and the reception was a true party.”

Don’t you just LOVE their excitement and love for each other? I definitely teared up a little bit… that’s always my indicator of an amazing wedding film! I have a little still-moment of their wedding for you all too, captured by Brandy & Beau Photography

I am in love with this vintage and “shabby chic” southern wedding from Concept Photography! From the fabulous outdoor venue with its lush green surroundings to the amazing dessert bar (my sweet tooth had me dying over their meringue wedding cake!), darling bride, Michelle, described her big day as Ralph Lauren Country. She shares some more thoughts on her big day below; it certainly makes me want to put on my wellies and explore every inch of the gorgeous North Carolina property!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Ralph Lauren Country immediately came to mind. I wanted it to be sophisticated and elegant yet not stuffy. Whimsical, shabby chic, and classic southern all bundled together to create an airy and relaxed feel.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Everything! There is no way for me to have a favorite when I put so much time, effort, sweat, laughter and even tears into making every detail as perfect as I could. Everything from the floral arrangements, to the chic dessert bar, to the last minute change for the location & setup of the ceremony (which was a blessing in disguise!). I think just the overall feel and look (elegant, yet relaxed) was absolutely a dream. I had to pinch myself a few times.

Michelle and Josh wanted to make their special day last by hosting their wedding over a long weekend. How about you? Would you consider having wedding events over multiple days? I’d love to hear!

XOXO,
Carlee
