My goodness, you all are in for a treat today! You may (or may not) have heard about a little movie called “Oz The Great and Powerful” that recently hit theaters. I actually haven’t been able to see it yet, but this inspiration shoot full of “The Wizard of Oz” wedding ideas sure does make me excited for it! Created by Viva L’Event NC and photographed by Live View StudiosI’m excited for you all to take a trip down the yellow brick road (I know, I know- I just HAD to) with me…

From Stephanie of Viva L’Event:

With emerald as the pantone color of the year for 2013 and the exciting new movie “Oz the Great and Powerful” premiering shortly, who can forget the 1939 film version of the original “Wizard of Oz”? With Judy Garland as “Dorothy” and Billy Burke as “Glinda the Good Witch,” it has become a timeless classic with it’s iconic ruby red shoes.

Just like it’s movie counterpart, this styled shoot was set on a rustic farm location. Nestled in the hills of North Carolina, Snipes Farm Retreat is a rustic wedding venue that brought the influence of Kansas fields into this shoot. The gorgeous photography by Live View Studios showcases this new age Wizard of Oz and brings the inspiration from the original film into a glamorous reinterpretation for 2013.

I wanted to keep to the true emerald and golds with the table setting that brings the glitz and glamour to life with amazing linens and place settings by CE Rentals. It was all accented by the colorful menu cards, with a place setting for four. The flowers were all created by Viva L’Event NC, including the table centerpiece which was kept elegant and simple, and the two bouquets – one representing the sweet “Dorothy” with a traditional blue gingham wrap and pops of color, and in the center of the bouquet, the bamboo, which represents the “Emerald City”.  The other was an all white bouquet wrapped in a gold chevron ribbon for the glam “Glinda”.

The whimsical, amazing cake and cupcakes made by Edible Art showcased each of the characters from the original film with the Emerald City on top and the yellow brick road down the side. All the unique stationary were created by Opus 1. Notice the date on the invites? It’s the opening date of the movie!

The glitz and glamour of couture bridal gowns from Romona Keveza Bridal Couture Collection made our “Dorothy” model beautiful in a pale blue gown, and our “Glinda the Good Witch” model was stunning in the beautiful ivory/gold gown.

The hair styling took the old braids Dorothy had into a new era with the fun fishtail braid look on our model for “Dorothy”, and glam big curls for “Glinda” which were just beautiful. The make-up by Michelle Clark also represented the look of the style shoot and kept “Dorothy” sweet and “Glinda” glam.

You all know that I love it when people can find inspiration in new things, and I just LOVE the ways that they brought the movie into this shoot! How perfect is that emerald green sequin table linen?! And the dog- oh my goodness… the absolute best!

Will any of you be using a favorite movie or story as inspiration for your own wedding? Even if it’s just a small element- it has the potential to be so unique!

I just love the venue they chose for their reception, and how adorable are those ballerina flower girls?! And those blue bottle centerpieces- such a great way to put some color on the tables, don’t you think?

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

There are a few people I would love to thank:  Gia (my Bridesmaid and Best Friend), Jennifer (my Matron-of-Honor & Sister) along with my entire Bridal Party, my mom, and James (my husband).

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Their quality of work and the chemistry James and I had with our vendors was very important to us.  You already know the vibe you get when you meet them by email and in person.  It was important for for us to have a good connection with them because in turn we could tell them exactly what vision we wanted for our wedding.  I feel if you do this then the vendors give you their best work and as a customer, you are more than happy and satisfied which puts you at ease.  In the end,  I felt all of our vendors went above and beyond their call of duty for our wedding.

For example, I was extremely happy about how our wedding photographs turned out!  Emma and Josh Photography did a fantastic job on our wedding and now James and I are friends with Emma and Josh.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The theme for our wedding was “Romantic Glamour”.  We wanted to exude a lot of love, happiness, and romance; and since we are near Hollywood, we wanted some sparkle and a chic elegant style!  To my delight, I feel like we definitely accomplished that with the help of Gia and all of our vendors!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Everything!  We were so happy that everything came out above and beyond our expectations-it was breathtaking!  James and I were so happy to be getting married and we could feel the same love and happiness from our family and friends.  It was a magical day!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Enjoy the moment and take in as much as possible!  I know it’s cliche, but it’s so true!  Also, please try to greet and mingle with all your guests because they came there to be part of your day.   It will make your wedding day special and worthwhile for your guests!

I love Jessica’s reminder to mingle with your guests- it does take a lot of time the more guests you have, but it’s also very memorable for them!

Now let’s talk about how gorgeous those centerpieces are! I love all of the candlelight and the glitz! Will any of you be having a modern glam wedding like this one? What colors will you be using?

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

To us classic is an atmosphere of simplicity that remains timeless. A less is more approach that allows the romance and playfulness between couples to fill the lens.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

We love shooting details. From beautiful centerpieces to elegant stationary to amazing flowers and bouquets, but most of all we love shooting the special details that make your wedding uniquely you. Your favorite flower, your signature drinks or a special family heirloom. We love seeing couples take the things they love and use them to tell their story on their wedding day.

What is your favorite store or brand?

Apple, Inc. Besides owning a dozen of their products we love their approach to customer service. Rather than overwhelm with dozens of mediocre products they offer only a few exceptional products. Apple is a beautiful example of how quality products plus great customer service make an incredible business.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

Hands down our couples. Perhaps we’ve just been blessed with amazing couples, but we actively foster to build a connection and comfort with each and every couple we photograph. We all get a little a self conscious when a camera is turned on us, but we’re not self conscious when chatting with friends. We want to feel like friends, so we can capture those beautiful, uninhibited moments of two people in love.

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

We’ve been where you are. Scanning websites, talking with vendors, tearing pages out of bridal magazines. We know how exciting and at times overwhelming planning a wedding can be, and we know what it meant to us when we met vendors who felt like friends. We believe our job is more than delivering great images. We pride ourselves on delivering a great experience.

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

Delivering an amazing experience on the wedding day starts with our first e-mail to you. We set the foundation for learning about the two of you. We personalize your engagement session, we scout your venues, we attend your rehearsal, Tiffany will follow your Pinterest boards, but most important we create friendship and trust with our brides and grooms.
