What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

In terms of inspiration, I spent a lot of time looking at wedding blogs (like this one!) and pinning things to my Pinterest board.  I would take those ideas and discuss them with my fiance, wedding coordinators, family and friends to come up with our own plans.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I’ll be honest: budget was one of the ruling factors and this led to a lot of spreadsheets during the planning process.  The other most important factors were professional reputation as vouched for by my wedding coordinators, and vendors’ personality and responsiveness to questions (we liked to ask lots of questions!).

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Since we had a destination wedding near the beautiful white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast, we were inspired by vibrant happy colors: coral, yellow and green.  We really wanted to celebrate the day and the fact that our family and friends had journeyed to our wedding from, literally, coast to coast.  I used some sentimental details in the decor: my grandfather’s collection of antique bottles served as vases for all the floral arrangements at the reception, and my mom (an avid quilter) made all the chevron print napkins in our color scheme and made my bouquet wrap out of lace from her wedding gown.  My husband’s dad made our wedding favors – wooden wine stoppers – by hand over the course of our 15 month engagement.  It was really special to add these details that reflected the love and support of our families.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I was overwhelmed by the fact that our family and friends traveled from so far to witness Jeff and me commit our lives to each other.  We have such fun and loving family and friends who mean the world to us, and it’s a really special thing to have the affirmation that they think we’re pretty cool, too!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Use your support system when you are planning!  I was constantly bouncing ideas off my fiance, mom, friends, coordinators, etc.  Whenever you feel uncertain about something, just talking it out can be so helpful!  Remember there are people to help you – your wedding is essentially a big party, and making the planning process a group effort is fun and lets you share the excitement early!

And how about an even further glimpse into Rachel and Jeffrey’s gorgeous day with a film by Pure7Films?

Jeffrey & Rachel (Ceremony & Reception Highlights) from Pure7 Films on Vimeo.

For me, there’s a definite allure to the destination wedding. I feel like it adds a little bit of extra fun to have everyone – guests included – get away from it all and focus solely on the celebration. With that being said, I definitely had a big hometown wedding and (probably) wouldn’t change a thing, even if I could.

How about you? Are you jetting off to exchange vows or are you all about celebrating in your city?

Happy Planning!
Carlee

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

Hmmm. I feel timeless and romantic, and I want to portray a more clean, bright airy romantic feeling. I would say I’m a little bit modern & classic.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

Hand carved table numbers and pens that a groom did. Yes, he carved and painted amazing pens for the groomsmen and bridesmaids, and gave them out at their rehearsal. The Maid of Honor used her pen to sign the marriage certificate, so I was able to get a glimpse of it!

What is your favorite store or brand?

I find myself shopping more and more at Francesca’s Collection. Just bought a super cool pair of boots from there that I am absolutely in love with and some cute tops!

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

I have 3: (1) when the bride and groom see each other for the 1st time. The smiles on their faces says it all. (2) The mother/son dance. I have two boys so it always makes my heart smile. (3) I love the entire day. What is not to love? A day filled with love, laughter and tears (tears of happiness that is) All of my favorite emotions. I am know to be caught hiding my tears behind my camera.

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

Beside the fact I am a total sap for love and definitely love photographing people in love. I feel I have the niche that makes my couples feel really comfortable around me. They can be themselves around me and totally open up. This has allowed me to capture the true love between them.

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

Pre-planning. Preplan their photography schedule so they know what to expect and be as flexible as possible for them. I love connecting with my couples so they are comfortable not only around me but feel comfortable to come to me if they are having an issue and not sure what to do about it. I love to make sure their day goes as perfect as it can for them.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Choosing to have a wedding planner was an absolutely invaluable decision. My wedding planner, Nicole Kaney, was instrumental when it came to planning our wedding celebration. Aside from her expertise, her calm and focused attitude always put my mind at ease. Being personally organized was the one thing that helped me the most when it came to keeping all of my tasks and deadlines in order. Excel spreadsheets became my best friend!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with someone who shared my sense of style and personality. Having experience in working at my venue was important to me as well. It was crucial that my wedding planner would be the type of person who ensured that on the wedding day the only thing I would need to worry about was enjoying myself. And she was all of those and more!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My venue (The Ringling Estate) was the biggest inspiration for my wedding design. It is such an overwhelming stunning venue that I knew I wanted a very classic look. I chose black and white as my colors with touches of blush pink to highlight the beautiful pink marble of the buildings. The outcome was a very modern and romantic feel. It was breathtaking.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The most cherished memory of my wedding was seeing everyone enjoying themselves and having a blast. I knew all the work we had put in was worth it.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Never let the wedding become bigger than you and what is truly important. And remember to soak in every minute because it flies by faster than you think!

Gorgeous right!? And I love her advice! Never let the wedding become bigger than what is truly important. SO true!

So what are your plans for soaking it all in on your wedding day?

Can’t wait to hear!
Cheers,
Samm
