Handmade details and cheerful pops of color bring a touch of eclectic charm to this stunning Florida wedding from Pure7Studios! The lovely bride, Rachel, is here to give us her planning insight:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
In terms of inspiration, I spent a lot of time looking at wedding blogs (like this one!) and pinning things to my Pinterest board. I would take those ideas and discuss them with my fiance, wedding coordinators, family and friends to come up with our own plans.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I’ll be honest: budget was one of the ruling factors and this led to a lot of spreadsheets during the planning process. The other most important factors were professional reputation as vouched for by my wedding coordinators, and vendors’ personality and responsiveness to questions (we liked to ask lots of questions!).
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Since we had a destination wedding near the beautiful white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast, we were inspired by vibrant happy colors: coral, yellow and green. We really wanted to celebrate the day and the fact that our family and friends had journeyed to our wedding from, literally, coast to coast. I used some sentimental details in the decor: my grandfather’s collection of antique bottles served as vases for all the floral arrangements at the reception, and my mom (an avid quilter) made all the chevron print napkins in our color scheme and made my bouquet wrap out of lace from her wedding gown. My husband’s dad made our wedding favors – wooden wine stoppers – by hand over the course of our 15 month engagement. It was really special to add these details that reflected the love and support of our families.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I was overwhelmed by the fact that our family and friends traveled from so far to witness Jeff and me commit our lives to each other. We have such fun and loving family and friends who mean the world to us, and it’s a really special thing to have the affirmation that they think we’re pretty cool, too!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Use your support system when you are planning! I was constantly bouncing ideas off my fiance, mom, friends, coordinators, etc. Whenever you feel uncertain about something, just talking it out can be so helpful! Remember there are people to help you – your wedding is essentially a big party, and making the planning process a group effort is fun and lets you share the excitement early!

For me, there’s a definite allure to the destination wedding. I feel like it adds a little bit of extra fun to have everyone – guests included – get away from it all and focus solely on the celebration. With that being said, I definitely had a big hometown wedding and (probably) wouldn’t change a thing, even if I could.
How about you? Are you jetting off to exchange vows or are you all about celebrating in your city?
Happy Planning!
