What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mother for keeping me on top of things and my wedding planner, Megan Martin, who helped me bring my wedding ideas to life.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

They understood the atmosphere I wanted for my ceremony and reception. This included the food, decor, and the photography. I wanted a classy rustic theme that made people feel welcome and want to celebrate.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Nature. I wanted things to have texture and to be true to the season somewhat, I had a January wedding. There was texture in everything from the bridesmaids’ dress fabric to the linens and even the flowers.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Go to bridal shows/conventions. They may seem cheesy but you may find a vendor or two that have great deals to help you have everything you want for your wedding. I met my rental and photo booth companies at a show. They both gave us great discounts for our wedding.

How amazing are those lush green tablescapes? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it, and I absolutely love it! Elizabeth drew her inspiration from nature, and it made for an absolutely gorgeous wedding!

So tell me- where will you be getting your inspiration from for your own wedding? It can be anything really… I’d love to hear!

I love the chic, modern style paired with a boho, eco-friendly vibe! It’s an unexpected combination, but still gorgeous nonetheless!

So what do you think of this combination of styles? Will you be mixing and matching different styles for your own wedding?

Taking place at the amazing Metropolitan Building in New York City, bride and groom Anna and Evan drew their inspiration from Anne of Green Gables to create a charming, garden-inspired, vintage wedding. The fabulous Moss + Isaac was there to capture all of the beauty- including the most lovely color palette of peach, lavender, and sage green, berry baskets as escort cards, and custom illustrated stationery! Anna is here with us today to tell us even more about her beautiful wedding:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My best friend was very helpful when it came to figuring out what we wanted our wedding to feel like and communicating that to vendors. It made a huge difference that the people we chose to work with were all smart, talented, and understood what we wanted.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We initially picked vendors based on their previous work, but ultimately it came down to whether we felt good being around them. These people were with me during some of the most stressful/wonderful moments of the day, so it was important that we were all comfortable with each other.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We chose our venue because it felt both sophisticated and a little funky. The space was so special, and I wanted whatever we brought in to feel like it belonged there. Also, our wedding was in the city, but I’m from a much more rural area, and wanted both sensibilities to be reflected.

From Rock Paper Scissors Events:

Anna and Evan came to me wanting to draw inspiration from Anne of Green Gables to create a warm, vintage, garden inspired wedding. They were drawn to the worn, old world charm of the Metropolitan Building as the perfect backdrop for a casually elegant summertime wedding. We started the ceremony with soft lavender, peaches, and sage green, and then built up the color for the reception to deep purple, tangerine and green for the overflowing centerpieces. Rebecca Shepherd created the most beautiful, natural style floral arrangements in rustic containers. The bride had a large doily collection that we used as runners on the dinner tables that added a charming and personal feel to the decor. Inspired by summer, we created fresh berry baskets for the escort cards in a farm stand display that guests devoured. The fresh fruit cake was a perfect addition, and a cake that actually tasted as good as it looked! Anna and Evan were lucky enough to have a very good friend who is an illustrator and made the adorable illustrations for the save the dates, programs and menus. The feel of the wedding from the vintage venue to the collected doilies and garden style was very much Anna and Evan – comfortable, beautiful and homey.

I just love every aspect of this wedding! The soft colors, the florals, the illustrated paper goods… it’s all absolutely gorgeous! And the touch of the fresh berry baskets for escort cards- I absolutely LOVE that!

So tell me- would you do your “escort cards” as something other than just a card, like how Anna and Evan used the berries?

Kacey and Tim’s inspiration for their lovely Alabama wedding was soft, classic romance, and j.woodbery photography captured it beautifully! A lovely lavender color palette added the perfect amount of romance to the day, and Kacey is here with us today to tell us all about it…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I relied heavily on the advice of my vendors throughout the planning process. Everyone was so nice and offered to help in every way possible. I would ask them tons of questions, and they were always happy to advise me on the best choice. The day of the wedding I had the best bridesmaid team surrounding me. They were there for everything ranging from fixing my hair when I needed it, to hold my dress when I peed. Not to mention, I had my dad and brother running around town picking things up that I forgot to get, or running a carpool from the hotel to my parents’ house. I owe everyone big time for making my day so amazing.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with people who were easy going, but reliable. I wanted to be able to contact them with questions or concerns and know that they would get back to me as soon as possible. They were all extremely communicative and willing to answer any and all questions, even if I was reaching out late at night:) It turns out, most vendors are working late nights too!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The inspiration was simple-I wanted my wedding to be a big party for all of my guests. I didn’t want to bombard them with tons of flowers, or decorations. I wanted to provide them with a beautiful space to enjoy one another, since most were traveling from out of town. The inspiration for the design was soft, romantic and classic. I’m a huge fan of classic movies, so I wanted to touch on that but also provide a modern twist on things.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

This is a tough question. I honestly enjoyed every single part of my wedding. Being able to spend time with my bridesmaids before the wedding was so fun. I don’t get to see those girls a lot, so it was wonderful being able to spend quality time with all of them in the same room. Dancing with my dad was another favorite. He isn’t an emotional man, but I knew exactly how he felt based on the song he chose. We danced to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. Not to mention, every picture that was taken of us dancing, he is smiling:) The reception was my all time favorite. I was actually able to hang out with all my family and friends, and just dance around. That was the best. Of course you can’t go wrong when you book a Motown band:) Always a good choice.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Don’t take everything too serious. It’s important to remember that the most important thing about your wedding day is marrying your best friend. Everything else, the weather, the reception, the church, will all work out. You have so many people around that are will to help make sure your day is fabulous.

I love the lavender color palette- the bridesmaid dresses are beautiful!

So tell me- what is your favorite color palette for a romantic wedding?
