This incredible gold and white wedding from Chanterelle Photography created the perfect blend of cultural tradition and Southern charm. With a day that included a Vietnamese tea ceremony, followed by a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony and reception, stunning bride Lizzie had a whopping three wardrobe changes throughout the festivities! She’s here with us today to tell us all about the gorgeousness that was her wedding…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I can admit that I am an indecisive person. I didn’t grow up thinking about how my wedding would look like or what flowers I would have. I am a girl who loves everything and can appreciate all styles. Therefore, I knew I had to set aside money in my budget to hire a wedding planner and designer. I ended signing a contract with Wink Design & Events based out of New Orleans, LA. They were the ones solely responsible for the look/design/and stress-free flow of my wedding.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Matt and I come from different cultures. He is American and I am Vietnamese. I wanted to go with a planning company who 1.) understood my culture and 2.) could speak both languages. I wanted a company who was experienced and knowledgeable about Vietnamese weddings and could help merge the two wedding ceremonial styles together. A lot of my family members only speak Vietnamese, so if any one of our guest had a question, I wanted my planner to be able answer it. As far as other vendors, of course finding the right photographer/videographer/caterer were tough. There are so many to choose from. I started by asking my married friends whose pictures/video I loved. Then selected the photographer/videographer that was within my budget.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My inspiration did not come until after I found my wedding dress. My wedding dress had a sequined bodice and an organza skirt. So we picked out tablecloths with sequins, and chair covers that were made out of organza. I saw an article in US weekly featuring Lauren Conrad and Blake Lively in rose and gold toned outfits that also inspired me. I thought the colors looked beautiful, classic, and represented my style very well. I knew those colors, coupled with ambient candlelight would portray feel I wanted for my reception. The second I saw this picture online, I knew I wanted to achieve a similar look. With the help of my friends and my event designer, everything came together in the end.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

In our culture, we do a table toasting. And what that is, is where the bridge and groom go around to every table and make a toast with them. There is a person selected at every table to speak and make a toast. This was special to me, because I got to spend some intimate time with each and every one of my guest.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice is to get a day of wedding coordinator. Your wedding day is an event of a lifetime. It takes a team to make sure your special day runs smoothly. Of course, a lot of planning and organizing is involved for your wedding, however nothing ever goes as planned. Problems will arise on your wedding day, and having a day of coordinator who is on top of all your vendors, making sure they arrive on time and checking that every spoon is in the right place or every candle is lit – is key to making it stress free for you.

I’m loving all of the sparkle throughout this wedding! And Lizzie’s advice to hire a coordinator? So perfect- make sure you read it!

Are any of you using a metallic tone as one of your main colors like Lizzie did? What will you be using?

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Our wedding planner, Kellie Ryan, helped the most on the wedding day. It was amazing not to have to stress out about the details the day of (or have any of my family members/friends running around stressing). There were a few issues the day of the wedding, but I never heard about them. Everything was flawless once we arrived to the venue.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We looked for a few things – quick responses, good reviews, and quality of work (ranging from photographs of work done to the look and feel of a proposal). I was wary of any vendors that couldn’t put together a nice looking proposal or sent “sloppy” emails.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We wanted something preppy, retro, colorful and chic. The vintage gymnasium for the reception was the key part of the design, and we built the details around it – navy and yellow linens, tulips in bright pops of color, and an eclectic mix of hobnail glass centerpieces.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Seeing everything come together was the best part! It was awesome seeing our families together, everyone dancing and enjoying themselves. It was just a really great party!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Find a great photographer and take engagement photos before the wedding. Don’t get too crazy on Pinterest – pick a select few things you want to focus on and don’t worry if you don’t have every typical wedding detail (we didn’t have a guestbook and I don’t think anyone noticed). Hire a wedding planner, at least for the day of. Seriously, you will enjoy the day WAY more if you have a planner to worry about everything for you. Oh…and tell your family not to collect the wedding cards and hide them somewhere without telling your wedding planner, as she may then have a minor freak out. Lastly, do a “first look”. I felt such a sense of calmness once we saw each other, and it resulted in beautiful photos.

Oh I just LOVE all of Jennifer’s advice! Especially the tip to tell your family to not collect your wedding cards- that’s one of your wedding planner’s jobs!

The colors in this wedding are just fabulous! I love how there was a main color palette of navy and yellow, but other colors were still incorporated to add a bit of an eclectic style.

Are any of you going to be using multiple colors for your own wedding? Or will you be sticking to the usual 2-3 colors for your wedding palette?

A sparkling silver and blush color palette makes this beach wedding in Naples, Florida glamorous, chic, and absolutely gorgeous! A destination wedding for the happy couple Trish and Chad, Stephanie A Smith Photography was there to capture the beautiful day they shared with their closest friends and family (and the cutest pup too). Trish is here with us today sharing about her lovely wedding and her planning experience:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

The most influential person in my wedding planning process and especially on my wedding day was by far my mother. Luckily we have similar taste in décor, and she understood my vision of what I wanted my special day to look and feel like. I couldn’t have made it through this without her, nor would I have wanted to go through it all with anyone else.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When deciding who I wanted to work with for my wedding, it basically came down to comfort level and wanting them to have a great understanding of my “vision”. People in this business have done hundreds if not thousands of weddings before me but I wanted to make sure that they made it feel like it wasn’t just any other wedding. I am an extremely detailed person so for my own peace of mind, I,needed to know that they had my best interest at heart, be able to showcase my own thoughts and ideas and most importantly, be able to make my vision come to life!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The inspiration for my wedding was beach glam. I always knew I wanted to get married on a beach but being from a city it wasn’t possible to have that without doing a destination wedding. I also knew that I didn’t want it to be just any beach wedding. I wanted all of the glitz and the glam with a more formal atmosphere. The Ritz Carlton in Naples Florida was just the place to create the ambiance that I was looking for.
Florida has always been my home away from home. It was also the first trip my husband and I took together, where he saw and felt his first ever palm tree and first time he told me he loved me. It was a special place for us both.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about my wedding was right before the reception was about to take place. My wedding planner took me and my now husband Chad upstairs in the beach house to see what the reception was going to look like before everyone came upstairs. When the double doors opened and I saw all of the lights dimmed, the tables decorated with candles, blush and white peonies (my absolute favorite flower) and draped with floor length sequin table cloths that puddled on the floor, I had tears in my eyes. All of the time and effort put toward making my vision come to life was worth it. It took my breath away.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Put you and your fiancé first. I’m not saying be a bridezilla, but you need to keep you and your future husband the focus of the wedding. There will be a ton of outside distractions that can take you away from what really matters, and what really matters is you and your fiances pledge to spend the rest of your lives together. At the end of the day, a wedding is just one magical day. Marriage is forever.

Isn’t all of that sparkle just gorgeous?! I love that Trish and Chad had their wedding at a location that holds a special place in their heart- such a great idea if you’re thinking about a destination wedding!

So tell me- are any of you having your weddings at a meaningful place? And my next question… how amazing are those sparkly linens?!
