Wedding Planning Advice: Take A Moment via TheELD.com

“Take a moment. Your wedding planning process can quickly turn into a whirlwind of to do lists, parties, shopping, decision making, cake tastings…it’s easy to lose track of what brought the two of you together. Plan date nights every month or so where wedding talk is off limits and just spend time together laughing and remembering and dreaming of the future.”

There’s nothing quite like the romance and elegance of a lovely lavender wedding planned by Ashley of the Graceful Host! Silver accents, gorgeous florals (that were different at every table!), and a fun yet intimate feel make this Biltmore wedding absolutely perfect, and lucky for us, Rachel Fesko Photography was there to capture it all!

I love the simplistic elegance of all the decor, don’t you? And of course the backdrop of the gorgeous Biltmore is definitely a winner!

Are any of you planning a wedding that is a bit more simple and intimate like this one? What will you be doing?

I was inspired by the tablecloth’s modern link pattern, and I decided that it would be perfect for incorporating into the other details too. My favorite detail of all this? Definitely the placecards and escort cards- A&P Designs created square cards with rounded corners that matched the link design perfectly!

How amazing are the grounds of the Viceroy? They are truly gorgeous, and Erin of Papered Heart Photography had so much to fun shooting all around the property… plus, lucky for us, she captured some stunning images!

So what do you think of these modern blue and yellow wedding ideas?

Colorful, eclectic, and taking place at the coolest Florida outdoor venue, this pink and aqua wedding from Concept Photography is full of lots of fun, fabulous details, and tons of love! Having fallen in love in Florida, Megan and Brandon wanted their wedding to embody the tropical nature of Florida, and their venue, Paradise Cove, did just that! Megan is here with us today sharing more about her wedding:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

We had a wedding coordinator the day of the wedding that was great!  She helped set up all the escort cards and programs and everything else. I don’t know what we would have done without her.  I was pretty much on my own when it came to the planning process. My husband basically told me from the beginning that whatever I wanted to do was fine with him, so he helped pick out the venue and the groomsmen attire, but that was about it. I spent a lot of time on weddingwire.com looking up reviews of different vendors, and tried to pick details that I knew I would love. I spent a lot of time on Pinterest initially. Most of the details didn’t come together until the very end.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with small businesses as much as possible.  The florist was a wonderful woman who worked out of her home near Daytona Beach. All the paper goods were customized and created by this amazing girl that lives in Chicago. I got silk robes for getting ready, the cake topper, the chair signs, the banners, and the beer koozies all on Etsy.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We had a lot of guests travel from out of town, so we wanted them to experience a tropical Florida wedding. But when you google “tropical wedding” to get ideas, it’s all oranges and purples and birds of paradise, I just didn’t like what I was coming across. So I tried to combine my tropical idea with pink, turquoise, aqua, yellow, and I wanted a rustic/vintage/tropical vibe. I don’t know if that’s actually the vibe I accomplished but I know I love how everything came together.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

It’s hard to pick a favorite thing, because the day came together so perfectly! I loved how our wedding was fairly small with only about 40 guests. We took most of our photos before the ceremony, so we were able to mingle during cocktail hour and really interact with everyone. Everyone was so happy, the weather was gorgeous, the flowers were amazing. It was all just perfect. My husband and his groomsmen made their entrance in a speed boat with M83 – Midnight City playing in the background. We had a perfect view of them from the bridal suite, it was awesome. I loved how beautiful my bridesmaids looked! I have way too many favorite things I guess.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

It can be very overwhelming to plan a wedding. It’s easy to get caught up in all the little details, like table numbers and programs. At some point you have to stop looking at Pinterest and start focusing on what you like and what will make the wedding represent you and your husband. Make sure to splurge on a great photographer! Oh, and the beer koozies were a big hit.

Megan’s advice is SO good- it’s what I tell brides all the time… at some point, you have to start focusing on what YOU want, not what you see everywhere else! And I love that you can tell that Megan’s details were true to her and Brandon- from the tropical location, to the unique florals!

How are you planning on making your own wedding represent you and your future spouse? I’d love to hear what you have planned!
