Wanting their wedding to feel like a romantic, vintage camp-out, Kelsey and Kyle’s “glamping” themed yellow and green wedding was full of fun, love, and the beautiful outdoors. With the help of Forever Events and Weddings, every bit of this wedding celebration was surely a fun and memorable experience for all- from rustic wood details and wild, loose florals, to campfires and a “tent city” for guests- and Love Pic Love was on hand to capture it all! Kelsey is here with us today to share more about her wedding insights and wedding day…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Choosing the right planner was paramount. We interviewed a couple of different wedding and event planners, but Emily really seemed to “get” us and loved our concept. Kyle and I spent many late nights looking at Pinterest and wedding blogs for inspiration, but it’s really difficult to make it all come together as a cohesive event. Emily helped us come up with practical ways to bring our dreams to life. Had she not been there, I think a lot of little details would have fallen through the cracks.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Customer Service – hands down. A great “product” is important, but we needed people that we could dream with. We wanted to work with someone who got just as excited as we did about the flowers, tents, cake, etc. The most important thing for us was finding vendors with a passion for what they do. Because in the end, their passion made their service/product amazing. When we all had clear visions, clear communication, and were happy to be working together the result was an incredible service.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We wanted our wedding to feel like a romantic, vintage camp out. We knew we wanted it to be completely outdoors, a little bit quirky, and tons of fun. Kyle’s grandfather has a beautiful ranch in Buffalo, Texas, and we knew that was where we wanted to get married. Our inspiration came from the times we’ve spent at the ranch- mostly long weekends and late nights around the campfire with our family and friends. When we combined that, with some inspiration from an amazing place in Marfa, Texas called, El Cosmico- we knew we wanted to create a “Tent City”, to keep the fun going all night for our wedding party.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The best part was getting to marry my best friend. Our ceremony was simple, but it was such a beautiful, emotional part of the day. A couple of our friends read short passages and Reverend Ralph spoke to us about how important it is to support and love each other. Looking Kyle in the eyes to say I Do, (both of us with huge grins on our faces) is a moment I’ll never forget.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Stay super organized in your planning, so that on the day of, you’re as cool as a cucumber. I had a 4 inch binder with 10-15 categories and a table of contents. This binder held every contract, all my notes, to do lists, and even some printed emails with vital information. Staying organized was the only way I could stay calm, when the planning process got chaotic. It paid off on the wedding day though! I knew that between my binder, and Emily, absolutely everything was covered. Because it was all going according to our plans, I was able to be as involved as I wanted to be in the details of the day. I helped decorate some of the tents, played foosball with my bridesmaids, and just had a fun day. Heck, when Emily pulled up that morning, I was hammering wooden signs in the ground!

I love the idea of a “glamping” themed wedding- especially when it’s something that you and your fiancé love to do! The way that Kelsey and Kyle created a fun atmosphere for their guests is so perfect.

Are you planning on doing anything to make your guests feel more comfortable at your wedding or throughout your wedding weekend?

I truly love the elegant simplicity of this white wedding captured by photographer Kate Belle and planned by Chancey Charm Weddings. A simple color palette of all white with green accents adds a bit of modern elegance to rustic elements of the space, creating an absolutely gorgeous event.

Isn’t this modern and elegant wedding just so lovely? The simplicity of the green and white color palette is just perfect, and it’s beautiful against the industrial, rustic elements of the venue. Oh, and how gorgeous is the bride’s reception gown?!

So are any of you going to be using a simplistic color palette like this couple did? What colors will you be choosing?

The color palette of today’s navy and peach wedding might be one of my new favorites! Wanting a wedding with an intimate feel, Lisa and Richard incorporated personal details and created a relaxed atmosphere to make sure their 200 guests felt right at home. The beauty of candlelight, lush garlands of greenery, and rustic details all played a part in creating this intimate and relaxed atmosphere, and Chloe Giancola Photography captured it all beautifully! Lisa is here with us today sharing more about her wedding and her planning process…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom and Matron-of-honor (Also my sister in law) were AMAZINGLY helpful in planning out wedding. I feel like I was calling them nearly every day to talk over details, get their opinions on things, work out logistics, etc. Of course I also used websites, blogs and Pinterest for inspiration!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

In choosing our vendors, it was important to me that they were dependable and understood our vision of what we wanted our wedding day be like. We visited with potential vendors and talked with them- not about the wedding, but really got to know them. This helped us choose vendors that we connected with on a personal level and shared similar tastes, visions, etc.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We really wanted our wedding to be intimate- like we were spending an evening with friends at our home- which wasn’t terribly easy to do with over 200 guests! Our venue, Washington Grass Inn, is an old antebellum home with beautiful grounds, and was the perfect backdrop for our evening. We chose to have the ceremony in a large, open field and made it feel more intimate with an antique mantle as our alter and old wooden doors at the end of the aisle. We used a mix of farmhouse and round tables with a lot of candle light for the reception, which made it feel really intimate, also. The grounds at Washington Grass Inn were also perfect- there are so many little nooks and crannies for people to gather in when they were taking a break from the dance floor- a beautiful, brick paved courtyard with twinkle lights, porches with rocking chairs, and so much more. I took some time during the night to just walk around and enjoy seeing everyone interact, and I loved seeing groups of people really utilizing the space and enjoying themselves.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

All of the personal details we put into everything. When I looked around at everything on the wedding day, I could see pieces of Richard and myself throughout all of the details. We used Richard favorite BBQ sauce (hand made by friends of our family!) as our guest favors, a local Athens Beer that Richard and I love was featured at the bar, my dad hand built the doors in our ceremony, etc. It just made everything so personal and I felt like our guests left our wedding knowing more about Richard and I and the things we enjoy.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Make sure that you and your soon-to-be husband comfortable with each and every decision that is made for your wedding. Don’t ever feel bad about communicating what you want with your vendors! I have heard a lot of people say I don’t want to be too picky or particular, but being detailed about your vision helps vendors and takes away the guess work on their end!

Lisa’s advice is absolutely spot on! You shouldn’t ever feel bad or be afraid when it comes to communicating with your vendors- it’s what they want you to do!

I for one am a HUGE fan of personal details, so those BBQ Sauce favors are my favorite detail from this lovely navy and peach wedding! But the escort card display might be a close second, because a) Lisa calligraphed the cards herself, and b) it’s alphabetical!

What kind of personal details are you planning on doing for your own wedding? Would you do a favor like your favorite BBQ sauce like this couple did?

From Amanda:

In the dead of winter, we knew we wanted to put together a shoot that was BRIGHT and BOLD and not your typical winter shoot to give some inspiration for upcoming Spring weddings! We had dreams of hot pink and teal coming together in a way that would not only make you smile, but also inspire brides to create fun details!

By using linens that really stood out with texture and fun flair, we made a bold statement while still staying realistic to the everyday bride by looking more high end than it really is. We used paper flowers from Sweet Pear Paper to make a fun pop behind the dessert table designed by Sweet Temptations! Letters of Grace Calligraphy showed brides that using the same design for your invite and your cake is not only show-stopping, but helps make your wedding one cohesive, beautiful day!

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina is the first stop you reach when you enter the inspirational and emotionally evoking beauty of the Outer Banks, so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the top wedding destination spots for brides on the East Coast. As silly as it seems, the wood paneling of this venue (something that would be considered out-of-date and style for most venues) is a TRUE genuine testament to all things Outer Banks — representing a look upheld by most of the brave cottages who have survived hurricane after hurricane protecting the coast of North Carolina. We loved putting together this look for one of the busiest wedding destination spots on the coast with some of the cleanest and most breathable salt air you can imagine!

I personally love every aspect of this design… I think it all came together beautifully! But my personal favorite detail might have to be the giant paper flowers used on the chairs and as a dessert table backdrop. What a great way to incorporate color into your wedding design!

Are any of you going to be using a particular design element or detail to infuse some color into your wedding? I’d love to hear what you’ll be doing!
