Cassie and Jeff’s Indianapolis wedding day was full of romance and laughter, and each detail of their day a beautiful reflection of their love story. Their menu featured food that was all locally grown and sourced in Indiana, and Cassie had photographs of family members on their wedding day pinned to her bouquet, which is just the sweetest way to keep loved ones close to your heart all day long.

We love this couple’s simple style that incorporated so many intentional details and beautiful moments. They put great emphasis on the food, and Juniper Spoon created a unique dining experience for their guests to enjoy. Rachael Schirano Photography captured such wonderful moments throughout the evening, and we’re thrilled to share all the details with you!

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important aspect to our day was to have incredible food for our guests. We made that a priority and were so lucky to have The Juniper Spoon as our caterer. The vegetables came directly out of her garden and all of the food that could be locally sourced was. The other important element was the flowers.

What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories)

The favorite part of our wedding day was after the ceremony when we got to spend a short while, just the two of us, in the choir loft of the church. It was an incredible moment that we could simply enjoy and step away from the gravity of the entire day. The pictures that were captured during that brief moment remain our favorites from the day. Our other favorite moments include dancing with all of our guests as the night went on. We both love to dance and our guests did too! It was very special to hear our guests groan when the party was over and let us know that everyone had had a great time.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

We personalized the wedding first by having incredible farm to table food that was prepared by a chef from the town that Jeff went to college in. We also had individual loafs of rosemary bread that came from a local bakery for each guest at their tables when they entered. We love cooking with olive oil, so each guest received a bottle of olive oil that had our wedding logo on the front.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

The first place we had family memories was on Cassie’s bouquet. Her bouquet was wrapped in a handkerchief that was Jeff’s baptism bonnet and was kept by Jeff’s mom for the day. Also, the bouquet had medallion pictures of Cassie’s parents and grandparents on their respective wedding days to be there with her.

Our parents and grandparents wedding photos adorned the gift table when guests entered the reception. Next to that table, we had a globe that everyone could sign that we have in our living room to this day. We love to travel and have met many of our friends from the places where we have lived, so it was great to have that memory. Also downstairs in the cocktail reception was a tandem bike that belonged to Jeff’s grandparents, then parents, then us that was covered with flowers on the way upstairs to the main reception area.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Cassie’s mom was most critical to the planning of the wedding. She had daily phone calls with her mom working through all of the details. We also had significant help from our photographer, Rachael Schirano, in planning the logistics for the day and fitting the timeline together with the big picture moments that we remember about the day.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

When you are planning your day, make sure that the wedding has personal touches so the day represents you both and who you are as a couple. The best advice that we received about our day was not to be out of arms reach from one-another at any point during the day once the ceremony was over. It was great advice because it would have been way to easy to be caught up talking to our family members or friends separately so we loved staying together throughout the night.

As for marriage advice, we can only say listen to all of the advice of older married couples that you admire. You know love when you see it and we have learned so much from observing the love of couples that we admire.

We love how the made their focus on the personalized details that made their day a perfect reflection of them as a couple. What a beautiful day of celebration!

What types of personal details will you be incorporating into your wedding day?
