Drawing inspiration from the decor and design of their home, Kristen and Eric’s modern vintage wedding at Watercolor Resort in Florida was a perfect blend of style, elegance, and jewel tones. In a color palette of pinks, plums, and mixed metallics, Bella Flora used lush florals and tons of sparkle to create an awe-inspiring wedding design, and the team of ELD favorite Pure 7 Studios was there to capture it all. Kristen is here with us today to share insight into the planning of her gorgeous wedding day, so sit back and soak in all the beauty!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mother and father played huge roles in the planning of the wedding. Not only did my parents serve as trusted advisors they also provide much needed emotional support in the stressful months leading up to the wedding.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We were looking for someone who would “get” our vision and someone we could trust to make the decisions on the small details without needing our input. Melanie and company at Bella Flora were great to work with and it was as if we shared a brain. She understood that I was not looking for the traditional beachy Southern wedding and was able to incorporate elements into the wedding to make it totally unique and unforgettable.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
The inspiration initially was to incorporate design elements that mirrored the decor in our house and that really evolved into a Great Gatsby feel with a modern twist. My personal design style is a mix of antiques and mid century modern elements such as lucite furniture and I think that our wedding was a prefect reflection of all of those elements.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I think this is a bit of a difficult question because I was honestly blown away by the whole thing. The few things that stick out are the event itself, our friends and family are still talking about what a great party it was, the cake(it was amazing looking and tasting), the Mr. and Mrs. lucite chairs that Bella Flora created especially for us(my husband surprised me for Christmas and purchased them from Bella Flora and they are now in our house) and one memory I will always have is my husband during the ceremony he was in tears the entire time which melts my heart to this day thinking about how much love he has for me.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Don’t sweat the small stuff the day goes by so quick and your guest don’t care what shade of purple the napkins are. Remember this is one of the only times in your life that all of these people will be in the same room interacting and celebrating so enjoy it.
Oh I just love Kristen’s advice- what she says about it being one of the only times in your life that all of your loved ones will be together just pulls on my heartstrings because it’s so very true! I of course am also loving how Kristen drew inspiration from her own personal style for her wedding design. The result was simply fabulous, don’t you think?
