So, true story, I was supposed to post this- my baby shower- over a year ago. But then, I had my baby earlier than expected, and then… yeah, I had a baby to take care of. And as I approach my daughter’s first birthday (on Sunday!), I remembered that I didn’t share this wonderful day. Better late than never, right?!
I entrusted the planning and design to my good friends Emily, of Treasury Rentals, and Laura, of Ashton Events, and Emily is joining us to share some of the details and inspiration behind the design of the day! This is truly a design that can be applied to any event, so I hope it inspires you in some way!
“It was such a pleasure teaming up with Laura, of Ashton Events, to design Lauren’s baby shower. As we started dreaming up the design, we worked closely with Lauren’s mom to nail down the colors and patterns that became the main style details. We opted to draw inspiration from how Lauren was decorating Alara’s nursery along with just her own personal style tastes, and I absolutely love how it all came together.
If you’ve spent any time on ELD, you’ll quickly learn that Lauren loves details (duh… the name of her business is Every Last DETAIL!). She also tends to be drawn to the same color palette of pinks, mints, teals, etc. with hints of geometric patterns. Lauren found the perfect fabric at Hobby Lobby that had all of these elements that became a highlight of Alara’s nursery, and we incorporated that same fabric into many details of her shower.”
I’m thrilled to share the incredible efforts of so many friends that came together to celebrate me and Alara (who at the time of the shower still didn’t have a name). And a HUGE thank you to my sweet friend Laura Foote for capturing all of the love celebrated that day, along with maternity photos after the party!
Laura and I need to give a serious shoutout to Lauren’s mom. She was 100% onboard with any crazy idea we came up with, and even sewed the table runners for the guest tables. Despite celebrating the soon-arrival of a sweet baby girl, we wanted to create a modern and mature feel for the shower style. Blush Paper Co. created the invitations that featured the same geometric pattern that was used throughout the design, and set the stage for the day. Laura created beautiful arrangements with soft pinks and whites in fun black containers, which paired perfectly with the geometric copper chargers, pink and clear pressed glassware, and black flatware from my rental collection over at Treasury Rentals. I love how the pop of black really elevated the design, and it provided a perfect, and unexpected contrast to the pastel color palette.
The last big design feature was the incredible cake created by J’aime Cakes. We provided her with the inspiration and color palette and she created pure magic. Not only was the look of the cake perfection, but the flavors were beyond delicious.”
And I just have to share a few of my maternity photos, because I still can’t believe that this was over a year ago… and um, that I was pregnant!
And I have to hand it to my mom- she handled my wants of a “non-shower” quite well! She did make some cute accents that were more shower-like, including an adorable hanging umbrella, complete with the pattern used all throughout the design. And now, since it’s been a year, I can’t wait to share Alara’s first birthday party with you in a few weeks! :)
