This rustic chic blush and white wedding photographed by Holly Gardner Photography is proof of the importance of hiring professionals for your wedding. A wrench was thrown into Lauren and Derrick’s plans for a beach wedding when a hurricane was threatening to arrive on the day of their wedding. But instead of canceling their well-laid plans, their wedding professionals went to work to find a new venue and alter a few details to create a wedding that was even better than they even originally imagined! Lauren is thankfully here today to tell us more about the process:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Renee with Ceremony Design Company helped so much with the planning process. She was able to take all of my ideas and run with them. We had so much fun sharing and pinning pins on Pinterest to our shared board. It was great to have her opinions and her experience to help us make the decisions for our decor and venue. A little background on our venue, the ceremony was supposed to be on the beach with a reception on a grand lawn. But the hurricane was supposed to come our way, so two days before the wedding, we had to come up with an entirely indoor plan! And that’s where we landed the vintage barn! Thankfully my shabby chic and vintage vibe worked even better in the barn! Renee had so many connections and really made the planning process a breeze.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
It was the most important for me to “click” with the person. It’s important to look at their past work and make sure they can see what you have envisioned. That helps the planning process going much smoother. I am thankful we were on the same wavelength! Renee is fairly new in the wedding planning business down here and I was blown away with the connections she had and her styling abilities.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
My home is very beachy, shabby chic and I wanted to have that style in my wedding as well. I love the soft tones and the vintage details out there. Many brides are loving this style lately and it was inspiring to see all of the creative things out there! I loved the light blush tones with accents of golds. But adding a hint of rustic with burlap. I loved the way that those styles mixed and it worked perfectly in the barn!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about the wedding was of course marrying my best friend. But, I just loved the barn! I am not an outdoorsy girl, so my friends were like, “what!!!? You’re getting married in a barn with horses?” Ha! But it made it so unique and special! There are so many beach weddings out there and I just love I was able to do something a little different. I loved the way the small things all came together!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My piece of advice for brides out there is that you can’t control it all and only you will notice if something is wrong! And if they do, they know you are secretly cringing! It’s your day! Just enjoy the small things and enjoying time with family and friends. Those are the things that you remember not the songs the musician is supposed to play during the processional! Enjoy your family and friends that are here to celebrate you! That’s the most important thing!
It turned out pretty amazing for a wedding that was threatened by a hurricane, don’t you think? I think the barn is great, and so perfect for the rustic chic decor!
Luckily Lauren and Derrick had already hired professionals that were able to help them out of their bind. What are your plans for any last-minute changes in your wedding plans?
Vendors who made it all happen…
