Vintage, chic, and overflowing with gorgeous pink peonies, this North Carolina Wedding captured by KMI Photography is just as romantic as it is beautiful. The Bellamy Mansion was the perfect outdoor setting for Katelyn and Kyle’s southern wedding, celebrating their marriage under glowing bistro lights and shining stars. Katelyn is here with us today to share more about the planning of their beautiful day and what she learned!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom was the biggest help when it came to the planning process. She was always there to bounce ideas off of and always gave great advice as we have very similar taste. I basically knew exactly what I wanted since before we got engaged thanks to Pinterest and blogs, I just needed help executing my ideas! I also hired a fabulous team that served as both my florist/decor stylist and day of planner. Over a year I slowly explained to them my vision and was blown away by what they came up with on the day. I would definitely suggest a day of planner who sets up/tears down everything so that you can focus on the fun!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important thing to me was customer service. I would get very frustrated and discontinue working with a vendor if they did not get back to me within a reasonable amount of time or were very difficult to get a hold of. I also was obsessed with reading reviews about vendors in the area. I wanted to make sure other many brides had good things to say about my vendors and that they were easy to work with!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I wanted a really romantic feel to my wedding and I wanted it to feel like us. I basically just chose things and colors that I liked. I didn’t have an exact color palette that I stuck to strictly. I wanted a lot of small details that guests could slowly uncover as the night went on. I also wanted guests to have different areas to explore throughout the day. Most of all I wanted everything to remind guests of Kyle and I. I wanted everyone leaving and thinking, “Wow that was really THEM.”

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about my wedding day was the ceremony. It was the only chance we will ever get as a couple to stand up in front of all our family and friends from all over and explain how and why we love each other. We laughed, we cried, and we were pronounced husband and wife. Walking back down the isle as a wife was the happiest moment of my life!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

The best piece of advice I can give other brides is that it’s okay to stress as long as you let go on your wedding day. If you’re like me you want everything to be exactly how you want it. Stress as much as you want up until the morning of your wedding day. That morning, wake up peaceful and excited. Don’t let anything get you down. What’s done is done. You will never get this day back so you don’t want to ruin it by sweating the small stuff. Something that will make this much easier is hiring someone to sweat the small stuff, so hire a day of planner!

Oh I love Katelyn’s advice to let go of any and all stress for your wedding day! Her recommendation to hire a day-of planner is absolutely spot-on!

Okay, and I don’t know about you, but I am OBSESSED with the gorgeous florals in Katelyn and Kyle’s wedding! Everything is just absolutely breathtaking, don’t you think?

My son Kyle and daughter-in-law Katelyn did have a beautiful wedding as you can see. Every detail was well thought out and executed. The thing that I will remember the most is seeing the smile on my son’s face as tears welled in his eyes as he watched his gorgeous bride walk down the aisle. Priceless. I am one proud mother and mother-in-law!
