These chic plaid wedding ideas were inspired by a bold plaid bow tie and a couple wanting a blend of modern and rustic style for their wedding, and are perfect for a Fall or Winter wedding! Pairing modern touches (like iPads as signs for tables and a chic wedding invitation by Simply Designed) with traditional elements created a wedding design that is just full of inspiration, and Rachael Foster Photography captured it all beautifully!

We crafted this engagement and wedding styled shoot for the DC couple with half their heart in Virginia wine country. Our inspiration began with a colorful take on the classic, plaid bow tie. With it’s historic roots and strong geometric patterns, a bold plaid makes a happy marriage of vintage tradition and contemporary style. We envisioned a couple seeking this fresh blend of modern and rustic, a couple who might use an iPad on their dessert table, screen-printed slate for dinner menus, and vintage wine barrels for the bar. Meet “Emily and Andrew”. Emily and Andrew may have downtown careers, but they love to get out to the country on the weekends. They’re adventurous foodies who still love old family recipes and jump at the chance to mix grandma’s antiques with curtains from West Elm and Z Gallerie. When it comes to their wedding, they can’t imagine the day without their beloved Siberian Husky. Some curious cows and a little dusting of late spring snow set the scene for these animal lovers and their sweet pup.
I just love the bold colors and the use of plaid! The bride’s look is absolutely fabulous… and isn’t the husky absolutely adorable? Heart. Melting.
