This wedding from Troy Grover Photographers is fabulous. Pink and black, modern and elegant… awesome combinations of colors and styles if you ask me! The beautiful bride Whitney shares some of her wedding insight with us too!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I had so much fun planning the wedding. I was not alone in planning any part of it. But it was my sister, Kristen, and my mom, Kathleen, who really put the entire wedding together. They are so creative and they helped bring my ideas to life. My sister created all of the artwork used for the wedding- the save the dates, invitations, menus, escort cards, programs, and posters. They helped put together all of the little details that made our wedding so personal.
Also, Tammy Mahshi, who was our Marriott event coordinator was amazing throughout the planning. She was very helpful and easy to work with. She went above and beyond her duties and helped make our wedding the most memorable day of our lives. She made me feel so at ease. On the day of the wedding I did not have one stress because I knew that Tammy and her team at the Marriott had everything handled.
Lastly, we were fortunate enough that the owners of a Texas based design studio, Bouquets of Austin, happen to be Tim’s aunt and uncle. Stephanie and Paul Barro (Aunt Steph and Uncle Looch) along with Jackie and Jennifer Bremer created the most beautiful floral arrangements and stunning decor for our wedding. I spoke to Stephanie twice about what I wanted for the wedding and each time she said ” I got it”. That was all I needed to hear because I knew no matter what, it was going to be beautiful. But WOW did they exceed my expectations. From the ceremony decor to the inside the ballroom- I was blown away by everything. They made our wedding look like a page out of a fairy tale.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I would have to say that the most important thing for me when deciding on who to work with was that I got along with all of the vendors. Before I hired anyone I sat down with each vendor and got a feel for their energy and what they were all about. I am so glad that I did that because on the day of the wedding my husband and I found ourselves surrounded by a team of people who were so positive, energetic and focused, yet calm and extremely professional.
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
All of my vendors were rock stars!! My photographers,Troy and Aimee Grover were just outstanding though! I am such a fan of their work and keep up with their blog religiously. I was so excited to have them shoot our wedding and they did not disappoint. They captured so many amazing moments and gave me such stunning photos! From the engagement session to the wedding day they were always great to work with. They really made Tim and I feel at ease in front of the camera and we are so grateful that they were apart of our wedding. They even set up their laptop at during our reception and showed a few photos from earlier in the day. It was such a nice touch!!
Philip Hover, my videographer, and his assistant Mikelle were wonderful!!! They were always there to get the shots but I never felt like they were up in my business. Phil put together a same day edit video and he also set up his laptop and played the video during our reception. He put the video together so quickly and yet it is such an amazing video! He is a talent!!!!
And again I have to mention the Bouquets of Austin team-Stephanie, Paul, Jackie and Jennifer. Because everything they did for the wedding was special!!!!!!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
There were so many things that I loved about my wedding!! But my favorite things would have to be the 15 custom posters that my sister designed, the crystals that hung behind the predella, all of my flowers and of course marrying the love of my life and celebrating with all of our family and friends. It was a day that we will cherish forever!!!!!!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My best piece of advice for other brides is to enjoy every minute of the planning and all of the festivities leading up to the wedding. Don’t sweat the small stuff, this should be the happiest time of your life and while it is so fun to focus on planning the wedding remember that the MOST important thing to focus on is the marriage you are about to start. On the day of your wedding take every moment in and wear comfortable shoes!!! :)
