What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

We were engaged for 14 months which allowed me plenty of time to plan and decide every last detail, however, I am pretty indecisive. My mother and my wedding planner, Along Came Stephanie, were my saving grace. They helped me look at all my options and walked me through each decision step by step to ensure that I was not overwhelmed. That being said, my wedding planner also introduced me to some amazing vendors such as Isn’t She Lovely Florals, Set Free Photography, and Luster Designs on Paper. All these vendors were amazing and really took my vision and ran with it, making the overall planning process a lot easier!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to know that the vendors I was working with were professional and trustworthy. I spent a lot of time searching through various wedding and wedding photography blogs to see who local brides were using and what their work looked like. Once I decided which vendors I liked, I searched online for reviews and asked my friends who had gotten married before me, what they liked and didn’t like about the vendors they had used.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I wanted to incorporate the beauty of the wedding’s location and my hometown (Naples, Florida) by having some beach/coastal flair with an element of elegance.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Marrying my best friend tops the list but from a design/detail standpoint, I would have to say the reception decor. Our color scheme incorporated corals, golds, and hints of navy with gorgeous ivory ruffled linens. The centerpieces had just enough greenery and were filled with coral garden roses and peonies. Our ballroom overlooked the Gulf of Mexico, which made the gold sparkle linens on our sweetheart and cake tables glisten as the sun set. The room was just magical!

What is your best piece of advice for brides?

Choose your vendors wisely, as they make all the difference. Make sure you can communicate openly with them and that they share your vision.

Wow, Marissa’s advice is totally spot on! She obviously chose some amazing vendors too, because her wedding design is just stunning, don’t you think?

So tell me- what are you using as your inspiration for your own wedding design? Marissa was inspired by her wedding location itself- will you be turning to your wedding’s location to inspire your decor?
