I’ve been married for a little over 7 years now, and as you all know, I frequently look back on the time in my life when I was engaged and planning my wedding. My engagement was a little different than most- I was getting married at the age of 21 to my high school sweetheart of 9 years, and we were engaged for about 16 month too. And since we were young and broke, there was thing that we absolutely needed to do- create a wedding registry!
Now, the common thought right off the bat, no matter how young or old you are, is that you don’t need much of anything and won’t have anything to register for. This is especially thought if you live together already. But friends, that is wrong! Registering for your wedding is a great opportunity to upgrade what you currently have, replace what is broken or doesn’t work anymore, and even get things that you would never usually buy for yourself. It’s pretty funny- for some reason, a wedding is one of the the only times that your family and friends will gladly buy you things for your life and home. It’s like a rite of passage, and you absolutely need to take advantage of it!
Looking back on when my husband and I registered for our wedding, I realized that there were things we ended up returning, things we ended up using a lot, and then things that are still collecting dust. Well, thanks to Macy’s wedding registry partnering with us, I’m able to take this opportunity today to share a few registry items that my husband and I have found to be MUST HAVES when you register!
Now, most everything that we found we registered for (and used) were items for the kitchen or appliances. Really, anything that was going to be a a bit of a larger purchase and we would have put off is what we registered for- including things like luggage and a coffee maker.
Appliances
From left to right: Coffee maker, Food processor, KitchenAid Mixer, Dyson vacuum, Handheld steamer
General Household Items
From left to right: Luggage set, Kate Spade cocktail shaker, Kate Spade toasting flutes, Kate Spade Wickford placesetting
Kitchen Items
From left to right: Mixing bowls, Pyrex set with lids, Calphalon cookware set, Cast iron frypan, Cutting board set, Le Cruset enameled cast iron French Oven, Cast iron reversible grill and griddle, Mandoline, Measuring cups, Measuring spoons, Mortar and pestle, Pizza stone, Digital kitchen scale, Vegetable Spiralizer, Vegetable steamer, Zester
I think from this list it’s a little obvious that my husband and I are foodies and love to cook! But really, all of these items are ones that we either did register for and still use 7 years later, or items that we *wish* we had registered for and ended up getting later on. So now it’s time to take all of these suggestions and add them to your registry! Head over to Macy’s to start your own wedding registry– it’s super easy! Plus, here’s a little something special for you to share with your friends and family once you create your registry…
