Amy and Nolan’s Alabama wedding took place on a beautiful spring day in Birmingham. Soft purple hues and crisp white accents created a beautiful look that suited their classic Southern wedding style perfectly. We love the way that this couple incorporated purple into their color palette in a way that truly inspires us, reminiscent of the 2018 Pantone Color, Ultra Violet.

Amy and Nolan were decisive in their vendor choices, and they knew that Eric & Jamie Photography would be perfect for them even before they met. Well, we think that they made an excellent decision, because they captured the beauty and joy of their day in the most perfect way! The Sonnet House offered a variety of services, from being a beautiful location, to planning and florals, all simplifying some of their decisions while planning. Their cake from Magnificent Cakes was absolutely gorgeous, and we loved the addition of the monogram- a perfect Southern touch!

We hope you will enjoy the pretty spring inspiration, and make sure you catch the insight that Amy shared in regards to planning her special day!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

Our central focus for our entire wedding was us. We wanted everything to portray both of our styles with mixtures of masculinity and femininity throughout. We both liked the idea of having everything being timeless and antique. We worked with The Sonnet House on how to incorporate this and they came up with ideas like using antique silver platters. We achieved a romantic feel by using a lot of candles with flowers that looked natural and whimsical. Geodes and books were added to create a more masculine feel. Much of the creative touches were produced by the Sonnet House. The house and the property exudes a unique mixture of rustic romance that itself is timeless.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

We had 3 important things that we discussed over and over in the planning process. They were photography, quartet for the ceremony, and music for the reception (in that order). We never had to discuss whether or not Eric & Jamie Photography were right for us. We knew they were going to be the ones before we even met them. This was based on their website, work, and as my husband will tell you, insistent stalking. The quartet was something we wanted but discussed for a while before we decided to go ahead and splurge. As far as reception music, we looked at bands for a long time. We contacted a few and then started to compare with a DJ. We ended up going with a phenomenal DJ because of the variety and getting more bang for our buck. We also really liked what On-Site Productions had to offer and how quick they were to respond to any and all questions.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

My favorite part of the day was when the doors opened to begin walking down the aisle. When I locked eyes with Nolan, I forgot anyone else was there. I had been super stressed all day but an immense calm fell over me as soon as I saw him. I couldn’t believe that we were in that moment, the one where I became his wife (finally). Nolan’s favorite part of the day was immediately following the ceremony, we had to go out the side of the house until all of the guest were moved to the courtyard for drinks and hors d’oeuvres. There was about 5 minutes that we had alone on the porch to be together as husband and wife.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

The cross that sat on the mantle of the outside fireplace, where the ceremony took place, was carved by Nolan and his uncle a few months before the wedding. They felled a pine tree on his family farm, carving it using only hand tools and a chainsaw. It is such a special personal touch and will be something we hang in our home.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

The chalices that we drank out of while cutting the cakes are antique silver and were picked out by Nolan’s grandmother pre-World War 2. They are hand chased and very special to us. The bowl that the lavender was kept in was from the same set.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Look at all of your options. Don’t just go to one venue, go to multiple and see what they offer. Some venues offer more bang for your buck and with that may come a lot more experience. Also, it’s about the bride AND the groom. We each listed what we really wanted out of our one and only wedding day and took all of each other’s wants into consideration. Sometimes we had to compromise and that was okay because we were getting married and that’s what mattered at the end of the day.

A beautiful and joyful couple, a color palette of soft hues, and charming details… what more could you ask for in a spring wedding day?

Maggie and Chas’ Orlando wedding day took place at Luxmore Grande Estate and was an elegant affair filled with sentimental details and sweet moments.

Aislinn from Ais Portraits shared a beautiful moment that touched her during this sweet couple’s wedding day, and we felt like it was worth highlighting.

“There was a moment in the day that absolutely brought me to tears. During Maggie’s bridal portraits, she showed me her bouquet where a bracelet from her grandfather was attached. He passed away two days before wedding day but his presence could be felt throughout the day in the ways Maggie and Chas chose to honor him.”

We love that this couple chose a classic style for their black tie affair. White blooms and lush greenery from Flowers By Lesley filled the ballroom of Luxmore Grande Estate, and it couldn’t have been a better fit for the space. From the emotional ceremony, where the groom took a time out to wipe the tears from his eyes, to the evening of dancing and celebration, these two found the perfect way to form the most precious memories that they will cherish forever.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

We wanted a classic, romatic wedding with also a somewhat modern feel. It was also important to us to have the ceremony and reception at one location that was close to our home town of Orlando, Fl. What inspired us the most was the all white floral and greenery look!

We just wanted all of our guests to feel comfortable and have a great time! We skipped on having a videographer and grooms cake and spent more on food, bar, DJ and floral!

Organic Black, White, and Green Wedding Ideas via TheELD.com
One styling concept, two contrasting looks, and four beautiful invitations. These black, white, and green wedding styles, designed by Aisle Society and created by B.LOVED, were tailored around the organic greenery style of the stationery pieces from Minted. One wedding style featuring crisp white details and a minimal style inspired by the first two stationery sets, and the second look incorporating darker decor based upon the black details. We love how this fresh organic concept feels effortless and beautiful in these two distinct looks.

The main focus for both looks was the focus on the lush greenery and organic nature of the floral design. Moss and Stone Floral Designs created a backdrop dripping with a sleek minimalist charm and garlands that effortlessly cascaded down the table, and they paired so perfectly with the rental pieces from Classic Crockery Event Hire.

We hope you enjoy all of the beauty found in the details that were captured by Helen Warner Photography, and that you’ll notice how these looks were inspired by the simplicity of something like stationery designs.

A modern romantic wedding style and a day that incorporated the couple’s love of travel in subtle ways, Sammi and Drew created a wedding day that fully encompassed a day of celebration. We loved hearing about the incredible details that their planner, Lauren Emerson, made so special for them throughout their wedding day, and Rustic White Photography captured every moment so perfectly.

We love how the mixed farm tables, romantic candlelight, mini globes, and lucite details created a style that felt so effortless. The Foundry at Puritan Mill in Atlanta offered the perfect setting to combine these details, and the industrial feel of the space matched with the modern vibe they created.

Sammi shared some of her favorite details that made their wedding such a dream, and we’re thrilled to share more of their day with you!

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.

The minute our wheels touched down after our engagement excursion I began planning the wedding of our dreams. I had worked with a floral design and wedding planning company after graduating college, so I had a small arsenal of ideas that I couldn’t wait to see come to life. The design musts were King Proteas – my favorite flower – and farm tables, but I also wanted to incorporate the gorgeous lucite elements I’d seen gaining popularity all over Pinterest. Overall, I was looking to combine the pretty, refined look of an editorial shoot with personal touches that make Drew and my relationship so unique, and incorporate our love for travel without actually having it be the theme of the wedding. The table names were of places we had been together and at the head table, instead of “Mr. & Mrs.” we had chair signs made with the lyrics from one of our favorite songs: “I wanna see the world with your hand in mine”.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

The most important part of wedding planning for Drew and I was to enjoy ourselves. More often than not we hear stories of brides and grooms to-be getting bogged down by the wedding planning process and no longer having fun planning the wedding of their dreams. We had our moments, but overall we tried to enjoy the little victories, oopses and discoveries that come with the territory of planning a wedding. When it came to splurges, photography, a planner and flowers were musts! We could not be happier with the way everything turned out and our incredible vendors were such a huge proponent of the day being such a success!

What were your favorite parts of the day?

Every single moment of our wedding day was magical. From the moment the doors opened and I walked down the aisle with my dad until the very last song was played I was completely overwhelmed with the amount of love from all our family and friends who were in attendance. Everything went off without a hitch and I don’t think a single person had a bad time. My favorite moments, however, were the three private moments I had with my new hubby. First, our incredible planner, Lauren Emerson, arranged for us to enjoy appetizers and bubbly toward the end of cocktail hour in the bridal suite of the venue. It was so amazing to only be with one another as husband and wife and celebrate our new marriage. Second was when Drew pulled me into the reception side of the room before anyone else entered so I could see it all put together. During my time with the wedding planning company right after college I’d experienced several gorgeous venues put together, untouched by guests, but when it’s your own wedding the feeling is entirely different. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Finally, just as the sun was setting, one of my bridesmaids came in from the patio and told us that we had to go watch the gorgeous sunset. Sunsets have become somewhat of a “thing” of ours after a trip to Thailand when we stood on a sandbar watching the most breathtaking sunset we’d ever seen. It was magical, and luckily for us my bridesmaid pulled Robert and Tiffany out to capture the moment.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

During the ceremony, we performed our own version of the Indian wedding unity ceremony Saptapadi, or Seven Steps. Saptapadi involves taking seven circles around a fire, where each circle represents seven promises the couple makes to one another. To personalize the ceremony (and abide by the venue’s fire code) Drew and I took seven steps instead of circles, and walked around a tapestry I had purchased on our trip to India. I had spotted the tapestry at a stall in a night market that Drew and I were exploring and when I approached the salesman he stated “You buy this, you’ll marry very soon”. Drew and I quickly dismissed the notion, reassuring the man we were just friends, but looking back we laugh thinking about how fortuitous that moment was and wonder if there was something the salesman saw in us that we hadn’t at the time.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Enjoy every minute! You’re going to have ups and downs on this adventure, but try not to stress too much when things don’t go perfectly. Also, I can’t recommend hiring a planner enough. Lauren was a godsend and the day would not have been nearly as perfect without her!

We love the lucite details that gave this industrial space a chic modern feel, and every design detail was perfect!

Are you planning on adding any lucite details into your wedding design to give things a modern twist? We want to hear how you plan to incorporate these types of elements.
