Here in the Midwest we anxiously await the start of summer. After all, it means late night walks to the local ice cream shop, street festivals, days by the lake, and (my favorite) lightning bugs. It is with that sort of anticipation that this team of talented vendors, led by Events by Willow and Anthony Barlich Photography, created this summer inspired shoot. Bright colors, beautiful wildflowers, a romantic invitation suite, and a gorgeous bride–what more can you ask for? Prepare to be inspired.

I love the idea of incorporating fruit into your decor and I think it’s an ingenious idea to use clementines as place holders. I also can’t get enough of that stunning birdcage veil and that amazing combination of flowers. What’s your favorite part of this shoot? Are you inspired to take any of these ideas and make them your own?

PS. Wanna hear a little secret? I didn’t know until I started looking at these photos that the model is a friend of mine. What a fun surprise! And guess what? She’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Let’s show her, and all these wonderful vendors, some love, shall we?!

Hey there friends! It’s time for another Vendor of the Week! This week I’m so very excited to introduce you all to Avant Images! Let’s learn a little more about the woman behind Avant Images– Tiffany- shall we?

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

Wedding and photography trends will come and go, but much like red lipstick or a classic tuxedo, your wedding photographs should be timeless and that is what I do. No gimmicks, no trends, no funky colors. Just beautiful, clean, timeless photography that will be as relevant 20 years down the road as it is today.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

I love seeing family pieces incorporated into a wedding. Bits of the brides mother’s dress wrapped around her bouquet, grandparent wedding pictures, an heirloom piece of jewelry worn or gifted to the bride on her wedding day. Things like this make it a deeply personal and special time.

What is your favorite store or brand?

On an unlimited budget? Williams-Sonoma, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, and antique stores. In the real world with everyone else? Anywhere I find something that I love and fits my life is good enough for me…who doesn’t love a good bargain?

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

Accept help when you really need it, hire vendors whom you not only trust, but also like, don’t be afraid to say “no” when you have to, don’t be afraid to say “yes” when you really want to, and finally, don’t sweat the small stuff. Let it go and enjoy the process. No matter how many magazines, or websites, or television shows tell you so, your wedding is not a competition.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

When the bride and groom walk down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife. It is a brief moment where it seems the rest of the world fades away, and they exist only with each other. Such a beautiful, emotionally charged time…gets me every time.

This beautiful Florida wedding from Noelia Kline Photography is the culmination of all of Kristie’s, the bride, ideas. But the beauty of it all was that as much as she had fun DIY-ing and designing the details of her wedding, she enlisted the help of Deb of Special Touches by Deb to help her bring her vision to life. How can you not love the art of collaboration?!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I think what helped me the most in the process was honestly watching the t.v. show My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. That probably sounds corny, but watching him plan weddings and making them into people’s dreams inspired me to plan my dream. I got a lot of my ideas from his shows as well as TheKnot.com. I saw so many beautiful photos that helped me focus on my vision for the day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I think the most important thing to me when deciding who to work with was my connection and relationships with my vendors. There wasn’t a single vendor that I didn’t know or that somebody I knew used and LOVED! My photographer and DJ were both very close friends, which helped me feel comfortable with them and not nervous. It also helped that I knew they were both amazing at what they did! I got my cake vendor, florist/coordinator, and make-up woman from friends who have used them in the past and gave me rave reviews! I wanted to feel confident in their work as well as have a great relationship with them! It all paid off because they were all amazing and helped make our day so special!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My inspiration for our wedding was a vintage feel. I have always felt I should have been raised in the South Carolina area because I LOVE the plantation style homes! I wanted my wedding to have that vintage/southern feel. I saw Highland Manor a few years back and knew it was the perfect fit! It had the vintage feel outside under the tree as well as in the ballroom! It felt like I was at home at the plantation! I wanted the pearls and soft pinks to enhance the vintage feel. Everything was soft in color to keep along with the vintage feel.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

What is my favorite thing about my wedding? That is a really tough question. I feel like everything was my favorite! My venue (Highland Manor) was in my top 3. It had the feel, look, and ambiance to match my vision. My brooch bouquet also ranks up there! I saw it on a David Tutera wedding and I fell in love! I knew it would complete my look to go along with my dress (which was also in my top 3)! Can I say my top 3 and not 1 favorite thing?

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best piece of advice for other brides is to stick with what you want and your vision. People may tell you that it won’t look right, or come together, but it will! I was told no to a few things I wanted and I stuck to my vision and all the details were perfection! This is your special day that you have been dreaming about and you don’t want to look back and wish you would have done something you decided to change! :)

I absolutely love how Kristie was able to derive so much inspiration from David Tutera’s TV show. So often so may of us watch wedding shows just for the sheer joy of it, yet Kristie looked at it with a different set of eyes. She took elements of high-end designs and was able to make them more relateable to her vision. That’s such a key takeaway for any bride catching this wedding today – use magazines, blogs and TV shows as a source of inspiration, then add your creative spin to it.

What has been your biggest source of inspiration?

xo,
Brit

It’s almost time for the weekend to begin and… holy summer it’s June huh?! My goodness time is flying! Well, nevertheless, it’s time for another Detail To Love! You may have seen this one in a recent shoot that I styled and designed… menu placemats! I’ve been wanting to do these for FOREVER, and it just so turned out that they were the perfect fit for the rustic, chic inspiration shoot that I did. Something like this would be perfect if you’re having a more casual wedding!

Detail To Love: Menu Placemats via TheELD.comPhoto by ELV member, Caroline & Evan Photography; Design by A&P Designs

How amazing are the hand-drawn elements by A&P Designs?! Of course you could have your menu placemat match your own wedding stationery design- I’m sure your stationery designer would be super excited to make something like this for you!

So what do you think? Are any of you having a more casual wedding that these would be perfect for?
