This shabby chic inspiration shoot from Christi Falls Photography that we have for you this morning takes place on a pretty fabulous tree farm. Not only that, but the shoot also includes some great details like a bold, bright turquoise table, a gorgeous tulle bow headpiece and an absolutely stunning cake! Combined with pops of turquoise and soft pink tones, the details all combine to create a simple and beautiful look full of wedding inspiration!

What I love most about this shoot is the balance of the soft pink and white hues with the bright, bold turquoise. It helps to bring (even more) life to the space! Such a great color combination for a bride wanting some bold, bright colors! What bold colors do you love to see in wedding palettes?

Brit

I am SO. DARN. EXCITED to share this week’s vendor with you… Kallima Photography! Ben and Rebekah Hood make up the husband and wife team of Kallima Photography, and you can take my word for it- they are pretty amazing! Based in South Florida, these fabulous photographers travel all over the world capturing gorgeous weddings- in both film and digital photography, and even in video! Oh and let’s not forget about the breathtaking images they capture each and every time. I’m seriously amazed time and time again when I see the weddings they’ve shot! Enough from me though, I’ll let their images (and their interview) speak for Kallima Photography

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

Our style really depends on the bride and groom, and the feel of their day. We have a way of seeing things, but we can still only tell the story of the day that is unfolding in front of us. We believe that it’s our job to tell that story, so that may change a bit with each wedding-and it should.

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

That is really tough. We’ve had some awesome brides and grooms. I really like the things that have a story behind them. We were blessed to shoot a greek wedding in the bride’s backyard in ft. lauderdale, florida. So each guest was given a bottle of olive oil from the families land in Greece. Gifts like this take planning, and care for event and guests. I love stuff like that.

What is your favorite store or brand?

I love Nordstrom’s because of the philosophy behind it. It’s hard to stand out as a department store…basically your selling the same stuff as everyone else. What Nordstrom’s has done, and is known for, is spectacular customer service. The employees have been empowered to go the extra mile for their clients, and they sell the best stuff! That’s what I would love our business to be known for….not just the photography, but also the care that we have for our clients.

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

Getting to know the Bride and Groom. This above all, is the best part of our job. We are so blessed to be apart of such intimate and important moments. There are times on the wedding day where we are invited into moments where no one else is. We have great respect for the importance of the day and are so thankful that we are allowed to tell these stories. We’ve gone on vacation with clients, crashed on their couches when we’ve traveled, and even named our daughter after a bride. The relationships are the best part of our job.

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

We listen to our clients and try to get to know them. You can’t tell someone’s story if you don’t know them. Also, we just like people. It’s fun to get to know people and their stories. Rebekah used to start off her bio with “i love, love.” and that’s still true. This love for the story and the people puts us in a great place to do our job well.

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

We have a few policies set in place that really make a big difference on the wedding day. We require an engagement shoot. This allows the bride and groom to get comfortable with us, and being behind the camera-and it helps us to get to know them. The last thing a bride needs is to try and learn to get comfortable with her photographer on the wedding day. We also require that the bride and groom fill out a pretty detailed info sheet. This helps us to spot any potential timeline or location problems, and work them out well in advance. Finally, we only offer unlimited coverage on the wedding day. This is huge for the couple because it allows them to just relax and not worry about when their photographer is going to get there or what time they are leaving…we’re there for the duration.

As soon as I saw the first picture from this wedding by Vick Photography and Premier Planning Services, I knew I was in love. I just love all of the sweet details, especially the beautiful calligraphy. And the bride just looks so happy! You can absolutely tell that this couple is 100% in love, and that just makes everything that much sweeter.

From the bride:

Looking back on our wedding, it is so fun to think of all the great moments and fun touches that made for the perfect day. We were so blessed to have all of our closest friends and family in town for the weekend to celebrate with us. Thanks to our fabulous wedding planner, Rita Swanson from Premier Planning, we were able to spend the entire weekend enjoying the events and special moments rather than having to worry about the details.

In an effort to have a wedding that was classic and beautiful without being over the top, we worked on coming up with a few ways to add personal touches that would make the event unique to us but still have the focus be on a celebration of our new lives together, not about the linens, flowers, cake or dresses.

Prior to the big day, one of my favorite details was the opportunity to use my hobby of letterpress to create our wedding invitations and save the dates. I found a local calligrapher who was able to design a custom map with wedding locations, such as the church and reception site, as well as fun little motifs around special places in our lives such as the high school where we met. Her beautiful calligraphy combined with a simple font allowed me to create classic invitations with a playful touch. I printed them in a simple, deep navy in an effort to keep it fun but still elegant.

Although I can’t take credit for the idea, I must say one of the most special parts of the evening was when my dad and I asked all the other fathers and daughters to join us on the dance floor so that nobody would be watching our four left feet for too long! It was so fun to see all the dads’ faces glowing as they danced with their girls. My sister joined my dad and I and we all laughed as we aimlessly swayed back and forth! Then, the mothers and sons did the same thing and it got everyone out on the dance floor to get the party started!

My husband, Graham, was more than willing to let me run the show when it came to planning our big day. He was in the thick of dental school at the time and was simply excited for our big day. Having him totally out of the details made it possible for my mom and I to come up with a fun little surprise for him at the reception. His favorite treat is made by a local company, FunkyChunky, that makes the best chocolate and caramel covered pretzels. We attached one to a toothbrush that said “Don’t forget to brush!” on it as the favor for each guest. We also had chocolate and caramel covered graham crackers with an “M” drizzled on them as part of the late night snack. He was in heaven!

We had our photographer set-up a little photo booth area where guests could get fun pictures taken. For props, we did a hunting theme since some of Graham and I’s favorite memories together have been from hunting trips to South Dakota. It’s true – I’m a hunter! The photo booth also brought about one of the most memorable photos from the evening when all my cousins and grandma piled in and we gave her the target and took aim! Her expression is priceless.

Our day could not have been more perfect or more us. Everything went flawlessly and the weather showed up in the most fabulous way. Sharing our first dinner together with all the people who love us most while the sun set outside the windows of the club left us totally overjoyed.  We look back on the day fondly.

Can you see what I mean about this couple obviously being in love? Their day was absolutely incredible, and definitely a symbol of their relationship, which I absolutely love. And they had a trolley! How amazing is that. It definitely made for some beautiful pictures, don’t you think?!

xoxo,
Joelle

Happy Friday everyone! I don’t know about you, but this week went by ridiculously fast! But fast week or not, the posts must go on! ;) Today I have an elegant orange and blue wedding for you all from  Kimberly Photography! If you’re a Florida person, you may notice that orange and blue are the colors of the Florida Gators. I love that for this wedding, the colors were only used to infuse the Gators into the wedding a little bit, and then the rest was inspired completely by the Florida orange groves! The bride, Amy, has joined us today to share some of her wedding planning insight too, so enjoy!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I would have to say my mom and my matron of honor helped me out the most before and during my wedding. I could also say that my husband made a couple phone calls, when I was started to go a little nutty right before the wedding :)

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I didn’t really have any pre-req when deciding who to work with for the wedding. However, I def needed people who understood and were able to portray my “orange grove” wedding theme.

Elegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.comElegant Orange & Blue Orange Grove Themed Wedding via TheELD.com

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I wanted the old school Florida vibe to stick out, not the usual beach theme.  I truly loved everything about my wedding so it’s difficult to just pick one.  I would have to say when I finally arrived at the church and walked down the aisle, I felt an overwhelming feeling of calm.  I loved when we were both able to finally exchange vows.  I also really loved the old wedding photos of both, David and I’s family members at the reception.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

The best piece of advice I could give is to never forget that, you and your husband are taking vows to share the rest of your lives together and make sure you take in the moment.  All the other stuff us just a big party(which is great) however don’t lose sight of what your wedding day is really about because it goes by so fast!!

Thank you so much for sharing with us Amy, and thank you to Kimberly Photography for capturing this orange grove themed wedding so wonderfully!

I loooove the idea of an orange grove theme for a wedding! The mini orange tree centerpieces are pretty awesome, don’t you think?! What do you think? Are any of you having your wedding theme/style include a “nod” to your state or hometown?
