I am IN LOVE with today’s DIY rustic, southern wedding. And the couple, Vickie and Ben. And the photographers who captured it all, Brett and Jessica. You can absolutely feel Vickie and Ben’s love for each other through these images… and on top of that, the film by Heart Stone Films is a total tearjerker! Y’all, get ready for some southern DIY gorgeousness!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Going through different blogs (your blog of course!, ruffled, rustic wedding chic, style me pretty), magazines (unveiled, southern weddings, the knot, brides), and of course Pinterest pages of real weddings and wedding inspiration boards really helped in my planning process.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Personality was really important, but also the level of passion my partners had for learning about me, my future husband and our wedding. We were so lucky to find the most amazing people we could have ever hoped to work with. They all took a very real interest in not only making the wedding Ben and I had envisioned, but making it better.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I created a vision book that was a collection of images (from many years of bridal magazines, blogs etc.) that inspired everything from my invites to my flowers and wedding dress. I took this book everywhere with me -from my first dress appointment to my wedding day. This book allowed me to translate my vision to the partners I was working with.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved having all of my friends and husband’s friends from all over the country in the same place. We will never have that group together again all in the same place and I soaked up every single minute I could with all the people we love.

And now you MUST watch this amazing film by Heart Stone Films

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Add a few of what we like to call “sprinkles” that really speak to who you and your future husband are as a couple. Ben and I did sunglasses we designed, bibs at the rehearsal dinner that we hand-drew and had produced overseas, and a sign that listed our favorite cocktails – which were also the signature cocktails at the wedding. It’s these little additions that speak to who you are as a couple and make the wedding special – not the 12 tiered wedding cake, the horse-drawn carriage, or the designer dress (although those help too :)) – but really, its adding in your personality that is what makes a wedding memorable.

Ben and Vickie are a couple after my own heart! I absolutely love that they clearly worked together in planning their wedding day, making it a celebration of their love and their life together. Not only that, but their wedding details are amazing too! My favorite detail: the table numbers! (Are you surprised?)

So tell me- what are you loving from this DIY rustic wedding? Anything in particular?

Pretty fabulous, right? I love that elements from the sea were incorporated into the decor, but yet the general look and feel of everything didn’t scream “beach-theme”. And the general style overall- eclectic, chic, and bright… love it!

What do you think of the different ways that orange was used in this inspiration shoot? Will any of you be incorporating the color orange into your own wedding decor?

Dressing your groom and groomsmen. At first, you might think it’s a no-brainer. Go to one of the big-box stores and pick out a tux, right? Well, I’m here to tell you that there is an alternative option to your usual tux rental. A fabulously alternative option. And that option my friends, is known as Indochino!

You see, I’ve seen LOTS of grooms and groomsmen over the years. In person AND in photos. The men that always stand out are the ones that look the most comfortable. And coincidentally, those men are always wearing amazing suits. Any guy will tell you- when they put on a tailor made suit, their confidence soars. Rented suits on the other hand- I mean, who wants to wear something that is too long/too short, or too loose/too tight? Or what about when you pickup the suit, and the sizes or wrong- or worse, there’s a hole in a shirt or a pocket (yes, all of these things have happened to me at either my own wedding or weddings that I have planned). As a bride (or bridesmaid even) you wouldn’t want that for yourself, right? So why would you have your groom and the men of your bridal party wear something that could yield those kinds of results?

Not to worry my friends, because there IS another option for dressing your groom and groomsmen. I’m talking about custom made suits by Indochino, the leader in custom online menswear. These suits are high quality, hand tailored, and a great alternative to the boring old rented tuxes that you think are your only option. What’s even better is that Indochino recently re-launched their wedding program, making it streamlined and simple for grooms and groomsmen to coordinate their outfits. No need to go to a store to get measured- with Indochino, men can pick their suit, customize it, and then follow their instructions to measure themselves! Super easy, super fast, and super fashionable!

When you really think about it, it makes total sense for your groom and groomsmen to get custom suits. Suits from Indochino run around $400, which is about 1/2 to 1/3 of the industry average. It makes SO much more sense then spending $200 on renting a suit or tux that will only be worn once, don’t you think? Plus, a suit that is custom made is absolutely something that your groom and groomsmen will wear again- and love (unlike the myth of being able to wear bridesmaid dresses again)! So go on and have your groom take a look at what Indochino offers- I bet he’ll love it!

———————————————————

I know that if I were getting married again, my husband would want to buy a nice custom suit as opposed to renting a suit or tux that he would only wear once. But of course this all depends on your future husband’s style and preference too!

So brides, what are your thoughts? Will your groom take an alternative route to tux rentals and buy a custom suit?
