Wedding Planning Advice: Have Engagement Photos Taken! via TheELD.com

“Take some time to enjoy being engaged! Then certainly capture this moment in your life with some engagement photos! Not only will you love having them years from now as you reminisce about this chapter in your life but it allows you to familiarize yourself with being in front of a camera with your fiance. Additionally, it allows the photographer to familiarize him or herself with you! It’s a win-win situation!”

Continuing on with this week’s “Aqua Wedding Ideas” miniseries from Sarah Bray Photography and Garden Gate Florals, we have a gorgeous rustic look! Combining rustic wood elements and burlap with gold accents (including a glitter gold table number!) is what makes this tablescape really stand out…

The bouquet is gorgeous too, don’t you think? I really love this whole tablescape, and how Garden Gate Florals combined elements to create the rustic look.

Will any of you be utilizing several different elements to create your tablescape? What are you planning on doing?

Insight from the bride, Caitlin:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom and my fiancé (now husband!) helped me most in the planning process.  We were planning our Tampa wedding from New York City, so my busy, physician mama had to take charge of a lot of the details and meetings, which she did with astounding patience.  My fiancé was also very interested and engaged in all aspects of the wedding planning, which did not surprise me, but felt like such a gift since I know all fiances are not so excited about the planning.  He is the ultimate project manager, so he kept me on task and helped me to make decisions when I was waffling.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Reputation was important to us when deciding whom to work with for our wedding – but in addition, we cared about demeanor and personality, especially for our wedding planner and photographer.  These would be the people that were with us all day on our biggest day, so we wanted them to be calm and upbeat, and we wanted to like them!  And we absolutely did :)

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

In planning our wedding, we kept coming back to the themes of being personal, reflective of our relationship, and most of all, FUN.  So we had a photo booth and corn hole toss, live band, and stations instead of sit-down dinner to keep people moving.  We had a mix of seating options – high and low tops and lounge seating, scattered throughout, to promote conversation, mingling, and a feeling of intimacy.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding was having all those wonderful people in one place for a whole weekend.  We started the weekend with a pre-wedding day 5K and ended with a post-wedding day brunch, and from beginning to end, it was absolute joy to celebrate with our families and friends and to unite such special people.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Keep the big picture in mind: you are getting married, and it is going to be wonderful, no matter the location, decor, or vendors, and all the little frustrations with guest lists, logistics, and room blocks are not worth sweating over in the end!

Aw, I love Caitlin’s advice. And how cool is it that their wedding weekend started with a “Wedding 5K”?! That’s such a great idea- especially for couples that are more active!

Are any of you planning on doing some extra events during your wedding weekend? What are you going to do?

So what do you think of the red and copper color palette used in this unique shoot? Will any of you be having a palette that is more rich and lush like the red and copper?
