This lavender and yellow wedding by Ashleigh Taylor Photography is just overflowing with beauty! The bride, Cassie, wanted her wedding to reflect the Spanish influences seen throughout historic Santa Barbara, and did so beautifully by pairing a soft, rustic style with lavender and yellow! Cassie is here with us today sharing more about her wedding planning experience:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Surprisingly to many, my now husband helped most in the planning process. He was involved in all of the details from picking the music, linens, invitations, etc…
We also had Sophie Spier of Amazing Days Events to thank for assisting us in the planning process and on our wedding day. I can’t stress enough how much a bride should consider hiring a wedding coordinator. Whatever missing pieces we didn’t think of or forgot Sophie was on top of it, right down to tracking down our cake topper that was discovered missing at the start of the reception and you’ll bet it was there before the cake cutting. All my dearest friends and family knew her by name and valued her overseeing everything as much as we did.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We really sought out people who made us feel like our wedding was just as important to them as it was to us. We picked wonderful people that we connected with and absolutely couldn’t see having a wedding without.
For example, Ashleigh I met before I became her client. I came across her website and began to follow her work. I told her, “ One day when I get married, I want you to shoot my wedding. ”
As for our caterer, Island View Catering, after having experienced their food at company event, there was no question who I wanted to cater my wedding. For our tasting, Avrey and Geoff invited us to their home with friends and family and cooked us a meal that went above and beyond your normal wedding tasting experience.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Our favorite part of the wedding was the ceremony. As emotional as it was, we all enjoyed some really special moments. Ron leaned in to hear something I had said, the pastor comically warned him, “Don’t kiss her yet!”
To symbolize leaping into the for better or for worse, we “jumped the broom” but our favorite thing about the wedding was our vows. Standing before one another and given the opportunity to express what brought us there on that day to spend the rest of our lives together.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I was an exchange student and fell in love with the Spanish culture after spending some time in Granada. My husband and I have yet to make it back to Spain and thought what better way to experience it with our friends and family than bringing some of the flavor and culture of Spain to us in our wedding while being an inter-racial couple incorporating some of our own.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Don’t get so caught up in all of the details and the planning that you don’t take time and enjoy all the special moments. It all happens so fast and it is over before you know it.
The colors are just awesome together, don’t you think? So unique- and paired with a Spanish style, the result is just gorgeous!
