Elegant, classy, and absolutely stunning, Hanna and Rob’s Sarasota wedding, captured by Liga Photography and planned by NK Productions, is filled with sparkle, glam, and so much love. Taking place at the beautiful Ca’ d’Zan, a timeless color palette of gold and white paired with lush, gorgeous florals make for a wedding that is truly a sight to behold. Hanna is here with us today sharing about her wedding, and she has some excellent insight…

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I was really fortunate to have a wonderful wedding planner, Nicole Kaney from NK Productions. She really understood my vision and made sure that every little last detail was exactly perfect. It really helped to have a wedding planner I could trust because she took care of the things that as a bride I would and did overlook. It also helped a lot to have a great maid of honor, my mother. I chose my mother because there is no one in the entire world that knows me better and that I could depend on. She really went above and beyond to make my day special. I was also really grateful to have a fiancé that was really involved in the process!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

It was really important to me to find vendors that I could trust and that shared my vision. I picked vendors that my wedding planner highly recommended. It was so important to me to find a photographer that shared my vision. This was so important to me because when it is all over your pictures are the memories you are left with. I chose Liga Photography because I absolutely loved and felt completely confident in her ability to capture all the important moments! I am an artist myself and loved the way she captured every last detail. I could not be happier with my choice and highly recommend finding a photographer that matches your own vision!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

At first I wanted to use my favorite colors, which are turquoise and chocolate brown. However, after viewing what this would look like I decided to go in a completely different direction. I wanted a wedding that was elegant and classy with a glamorous feel to it. The most important thing in my vision was to have a wedding that in 30 years wouldn’t feel outdated. I choose the colors gold and white because I loved the way they went together. Anne from the Paper Tree (Sarasota, FL) did an incredible job finding invites and save the dates that fit our wedding absolutely perfectly. She also went above and beyond and found a calligrapher that hand wrote all our seating charts in beautiful calligraphy that we framed with beautiful, large gold frames.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

One of my favorite things about our wedding was walking into our reception before the guests came in and seeing our vision come together. I was completely blown away to say the least!!! Another one of my favorites was our photo booth! We used a company called Fancy Booth. I highly recommend having a photo booth to every bride! Our guests had so much fun using the photo booth and we got so many great pictures afterwords of all of our guests that we normally would not have had. It also helped to have another activity that our guests could take part in to break up the usual wedding routine. Needless to say it was a huge hit! I also would recommend to brides to really take the time to pick out a great DJ or band. We used a band for our ceremony, a steel drum band for our cocktail hour and a DJ for our reception. We were glad that we picked a DJ for our reception because we liked the variety of music we are able to have. I was so nervous the night before the wedding because we had barely had any time to talk with our DJ and he didn’t require a list of songs that we wanted him to play. Basically the only information we had given him was the music that we didn’t want to play, and our first dance selections…etc… Anyway, our DJ (DJ Burdier, from Stereophonic DJ’s) had an incredible ability to read the crowd and kept all our guests dancing till it was over. I have been to a lot of weddings were there were only a few guests left by the last dance, this was not the case without wedding by the last dance I was delighted that all our guests were still there and still dancing!!! I believe that this was entirely because we had a great DJ that kept our guests up and dancing the whole time!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

I would tell other brides to just relax, take a deep breath. After the ceremony I was so stressed out about making sure I got my dress bustled and off the ground that I missed out on my entire cocktail party! I would also tell brides to just enjoy every aspect of planning and the process, I know it may seem incredibly stressful but before you know it, you blink and it’s over!

I really love the gold and white together, don’t you? Classic, and oh-so-gorgeous!

Are any of you having an elegant, classic wedding like this one? What colors will you be using?

Drawing inspiration from the history of the enchanting city of Savannah, Georgia, Morgan Gallo Events created romantic wedding ideas that are dark, dramatic, and absolutely beautiful. Subtle details calling attention to Savannah’s “haunted” reputation add a bit of intrigue, while a rich, bold color palette of purples and reds with black lace accents lends just the right amount of drama without being too “spooky”. Izzy Huggins Photography captured everything gorgeously, and I can’t wait for y’all to see all of the beauty…

Oh. My. Goodness. This is seriously SO gorgeous- I just can’t get enough of it! This would be so perfect for a Fall or Winter wedding, or if you just want a wedding that is chic and romantic, this dark, luxurious color palette would be quite fitting! Plus, I love the details and how they subtly call attention to Savannah’s history and the underlying theme of the wedding. This, my friends, is how you use details to establish a theme for your wedding! :)

So tell me- what do you think of these romantic wedding ideas with a bit of “dark” theme?

This stunning Miami wedding from Captured Photography by Jenny features a chic, modern style that is perfect for Chelsea and Andrew, a hip, young couple from NYC. The stunning bride Chelsea is here to share her planning insight with us:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mother/ wedding planner (Donna Capri of Donna Capri Events).  She helped me come up with innovative ideas – especially the gold bridesmaids dresses (she even picked out most of them!).

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Reputation and pictures/ past performances. As I was planning a Miami wedding from NYC, I couldn’t meet the majority of my vendors in person, and relied heavily on phone calls, emails and of course, my mom!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Hip & Modern elegance. We rented long mirrored tables, which bordered the dance floor adorned with extra long tapers, infinity candle boxes, and blooming hot pink and fuchsia floral arrangements. Instead of an escort card table we had giant boards with our guests names printed on them. Our invitation suite from Bella Figura was the perfect amount of young, modern and chic, which pretty much sums up our style.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The band! They were incredible and really felt the crowd out. It was important to us that everyone danced the night away, so we encouraged that by passing tequila shots around the dance floor as the Heatwave band jammed all night! The party continued as DJ Zak Mann spun old school classics like Biggie’s “Hypnotize” & everyone munched on mini grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza bagels & ice cream cones.

To end the night we gifted mini black and white cookies to all of our guests, which added a little bit of NY to our Miami wedding.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff – Nobody will ever notice that one missed detail. Try to relax and have the best night of your life.

Y’all. Gold sequined bridesmaid dresses? Be still my beating heart! Metallic bridesmaids’ attire is going to be a huge trend and I can’t wait to see all of the pretty maids in their gilded gowns.

How about you? Would you let your ladies shine on your big day? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Happy Planning!
Carlee

You are going to absolutely LOVE this eclectic beach wedding from Marissa Moss Photography! Bright colors, tropical details, and a stunning beach location all played a part in giving this DC couple a fun destination wedding that I’m sure their friends and family will be talking about for years to come. The lovely bride, Mallory, is here with us today sharing some of her wedding insight:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I love Excel so I used it to keep track of just about everything from vendor payments and RSVPs to wedding gift and thank you note tracking. I used it in Google documents so that family members could also update the files, which was helpful.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Reviews. I made sure to use vendors that friends had good experiences with or that had great reviews on WeddingWire.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I grew up in Florida so even though I live in Washington, DC now, I’ll always be a beach girl at heart. I wanted the wedding to celebrate that and also give our non-Floridian friends and family a taste of Tampa and beach living. I hoped to give everyone traveling, especially my husband’s family from Wisconsin, as much sunshine and water exposure as possible since I hoped the trip would be a nice getaway from winter weather for them.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Everyone told me that you won’t have time to eat at the reception but I didn’t pay much attention to it because forgetting to eat is never a problem for me. But honestly, I was so overwhelmed that I really couldn’t sit down to eat and by the end of the night, I was feeling a little bit shaky. I wish I had eaten something before the reception started or had asked the venue to arrange some doggy bags for us because I feel like I totally missed out on the food. Other than that, I recommend just going with the flow. It seems complicated when its your wedding but if you choose good vendors, weddings are everyday things for them and it all comes together.

I just love the coral and aqua together, don’t you? It’s so fun, and it might be my new favorite color palette! Not to mention that it’s perfect for a beach wedding!

So are any of you having a beach wedding? Or maybe just a destination wedding? What color palette will you be going with?
