From the moment I saw Kari and Nick’s stationery, I found myself unable to stop saying “this is amazing” as I looked through each and every photo from their eclectic wedding day. The pair met and live in Brooklyn; however, they are both from Florida. The Sunshine State quickly became their inspiration while planning, and Kari knew she wanted to return home when the two said, “I do”.

Doe Lake Campground served as K+N’s ceremony and reception venues, and they transformed the space into an eclectic, boho, and modern soiree filled with foliage, bright colors (think: neon pink and green!), and beautiful lighting. Nick’s mom is a florist, and she did an amazing job designing the bouquets and centerpieces. Plus, one of Kari’s friends is an event designer in Los Angeles while another works as a prop stylist in New York City. Talk about an incredibly talented team!

While planning, K+N’s biggest concern was working with a photographer whom they felt made them feel comfortable in front of the camera. As you look through the photos, you will quickly notice they made a wonderful choice by working with By the Robinsons! Y’all, I cannot wait for you to see Kari and Nick’s wedding day!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?  

We are so lucky to be surrounded by creative geniuses and loving friends who were all willing to be a part of this process. Our closest friends and all of our family played a key role in helping to plan and execute the details. One of my closest friends happens to be a wedding designer out of LA (Christy Thiessen of Hello Gem Events), so she was hugely helpful along with my best friend since childhood who is a prop stylist here in New York (Amy Taylor Styling). Between the two of them and my super creative mom, sisters, and my mother-in-law who happens to be an incredibly skilled florist, we had a solid team…and a lot of fun!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding? 

That they had a sense of style and understood our vision. We didn’t want standard stiff-looking wedding photos, so the photographer was our biggest decision. We found a winner in By the Robinsons, who were not only fun to work with, but really knew the narrative, natural look we were going for. 

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?  

My husband and I met and live in Brooklyn, but are both from Florida, so we knew we wanted to get married there. The place itself became my inspiration, both the natural landscape, the foliage and definitely the kitsch.  

What was your favorite thing about your wedding? 

Dancing with friends and family under the big tree dripping with lights. It’s been my vision since I first thought about getting married and it did not disappoint. I also LOVED our ceremony and remember every moment of it, which I did not expect. 

What is your best piece of advice for other brides? 

Rely on the people around you when you can and try not to be too much of a control freak. I may have been guilty of that and caused myself more stress than I needed. Once I let go, I had a lot more fun.
