Nestled among the miles of strawberry fields in Central Florida, Chris and Raina chose to exchange their vows with a romantic rustic Florida barn wedding at Cross Creek Ranch. Florida natives that now reside in NYC, this bride and groom found a sweet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, and it was the perfect place for them to celebrate the start to their marriage among family and friends.
With soft blush and white tones accented with the lush greenery and blooms, this couple chose a simplistic style that highlighted the natural beauty of their surroundings. We love that they chose to utilize the rich barn beams in their reception to hang large greenery wreaths over some of the tables to create high and low elements that soften the space and provide a romantic garden feel.
Kt Crabb Photography captured the utter joy and beauty of the day, and we are thrilled that Raina chose to share some of the details behind the planning that made their day so perfect! We hope you enjoy!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Pinterest was key in terms of finding inspiration for the look and feel I was after. In terms of actual planning though, my mom and my sisters were instrumental in the process. Every time I wanted a second opinion, they were there to help out for which I’m eternally grateful. On the wedding day, I was fortunate to have a day-of coordinator and bridal assistant, provided by my venue, who ensured everything was running on schedule! As a Type A bride, having people I could rely on to make sure it was a smooth day was amazing.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
The most important thing was proven quality of work, followed immediately by cost.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
After years of perusing Pinterest, wedding magazine and blogs, I knew exactly how I wanted my wedding to look. I wanted a rustic, outdoorsy venue that I could elevate with elegant design – Chivari chairs, floral wreaths, romantic lighting, etc.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Besides getting to marry my best friend and having the best day of my life? I’d say the overall look/feel of the wedding. My vendors did a great job bringing my vision to life and creating a true celebratory atmosphere for my family and friends.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Trust yourself! There’s so much stress and pressure that gets put on the bride for weddings, but at the end of the day, it’s YOUR wedding (and your spouse’s) and everyone else should just consider themselves lucky to be invited. So spend money on the things that mean most to you, put effort into the details that you care most about, and know that the decisions you make along the way are right for you. I spent a lot of time in the weeks leading up to the wedding second-guessing everything from the ceremony songs to the signature cocktails to my entire color palette and at the end of the day, everything we had chosen was absolutely perfect for us.
What great insight for future brides! We just love how these two celebrated their special day, and the simple details that made this rustic space just a little more feminine and romantic. From the bride’s style (and her adorable Kate Spade Keds) to the details scattered throughout the day, their simple and classic style was spot on.
